  1. I'm on a 15 night TA next April in a regular inside wasn't really interested in a verandah for that cruise as not sure if seas will be rocking or not this years TA was smooth but not always the case. I spend most of my sea days in or reading at the pool so an IV would be a waste of money, however, the 11 Med cruise immediately after it was considering it due to all the scenery I could view from the verandah but certainly not at current pricing. Its fairly port intensive so would be out a lot. If it drops in price then I'd definitely book. I got the TA at an excellent price so I can afford the upcharge for the next sailing but I'm not one to waste money.
  2. Yes its CAD. A lot for one person and its following a 15 night TA.
  3. I'm so torn about getting the IV for my Mediterranean cruise next year I have an inside and although an upgrade would cost a fair bit more I read when you're sitting outside all you see is a tinted window as they are quite high. Anyone have any issues with them. Worth the $1450 to upgrade? Cruise is 11 nights.
  4. Thats a great idea make use of the day and you will be well rested for flight home
  5. That may be your best bet unless you want to stay in Orlando or surrounding area an extra night and take an early morning flight direct to YYZ. Landing at 8 is not so bad but a long drive home.
  6. It's the lack of drawer space that would bother me; I don't care about the sofa as I just use it to throw stuff on. I'm doing an inside on a 15 night TA which has ample space followed by an 11 night Med so didn't want to downgrade to a smaller cabin.
  7. They don't have a supplement but they are also not a bargain. On E class ships they are located on deck 6 most of them are obstructed. The cabins are smaller in comparison to insides at 142 square feet without a sofa and chest of drawers. I feel you are basically paying for the fact you have an IV.
  8. Since its a 3 hour change can you cancel and rebook? For international flights they are asking to check in 3 hours ahead. You would have to be at airport at 8:30 am. Not sure if doable.
  9. Transatlantics generally don't have kids I saw one baby on my April TA. Its a long time for parents to take them out of school. It was great nice and relaxing or if you want busy you have that too. Always something to do. The ocean was nice and calm during the crossing so a lot of people at the pool and no problem getting loungers.
  10. I've just booked a regular inside usually I get a deluxe inside for either the same price or 50 bucks more but on this sailing they want an extra $150 which is robbery, what for? An extra 10 feet of space? Big deal. The solo IV is priced even worse. An extra $842 for less space and living out of my suitcase due to no chest of drawers. I'll eventually get an IV at the right price just have to be patient.
  11. Its a cabin for one person queen bed as opposed to king less storage space in bathroom less storage for clothes. No sofa and cabin is a bit smaller than regular IV. The veranda area same size at 42 square feet. Personally I didn't feel it was well priced for my Mediterranean cruise next year
  12. I didn't post a review of my recent TA but they have 2 shows every evening. During the day there is often movies in the Theatre. I did not go to any of them most likely having lunch or out by pool the crossing this past April was so smooth with nice sunny days I was able to go to the pool every day. There's lots to do on the TA's that one is never bored. They also have Beyond the Podium guest speakers but I can't say for sure it was on my recent one but last year on the Apex crossing there was one who was excellent she spoke every day about all the Women of the Whitehouse as she was there during Clinton's presidency. I used the Spa once had a great 75 minute massage at a discount but next time will get a package. I've booked another TA for next year on the Ascent just an inside price was very good but I see it has now increased.
  13. Pearson (YYZ) is pretty good for flights and many of the airlines fly several times a day. I see West Jet and Porter is charging the same but WJ is too early and as I fly out a day in advance chances are my room won't be ready. I also prefer Porter's service and the 2 and 2 seat configuration. I'm going to call FBC and see if they will match Air Transat price on the return from Rome in May. That way I can pay for the flight next February. Doesn't hurt to ask
  14. Air Transat back from Rome next May one way flight to Toronto is $598 CAD. Flights by Celebrity is charging $769 but refundable with fees. Big deal I'd rather book on my own. Air Canada is over $2K one way. For my trip to FLL I can fly Porter for $200, Celebrity doesn't offer Porter airlines
  15. I usually bring 3 swimsuits as I'm in the pool a lot sometimes I have to change couple times a day if I've got something planned also being on a previous TA have to pack pants long sleeve shirt and a sweater as unsure what the crossing will be like. I've canceled the hold on solo cabin and in all honesty the price of the upgrade wasn't worth it better to wait and see if regular verandas drop in price.
  16. Appreciate your input and no I do not find you weird at all. On my April TA I was in a deluxe inside with a King bed also two singles pushed together must have been pretty tightly pushed together as I didn't notice but then I sleep on my side at edge of bed and rarely move. Lots of time till this cruise happens and perhaps the IVs will drop in price or may bite the bullet and book; can always reprice. Thanks again for the info. 😀
  17. I'm not that concerned about the lack of a sofa but I would need at least a couple of decent size drawers as I'll be doing this as the second leg of a 15 night transatlantic and was surprised there wasn't a chest of drawers. Several years ago I was on the Silhouette also solo inside cabin at 102 Square feet and drawer space was great. I just felt the upcharge from inside to solo IV was unwarranted.
  18. I had a single IV on a courtesy hold for my Mediterranean cruise next May but after looking at some utubes am going to release hold. Smaller cabin queen bed with no sofa or drawers for clothing. Just a few small shelves. I'd have to live out of my suitcase. The extra charge is just not worth it IMO. Don't know what Kelly Hoppen was thinking when she designed these solo cabins; maybe she thinks we travel with backpacks.
  19. That's why I want to book my return from Rome next May ASAP as I know the flight will sell out at the current price.
  20. No it won't allow a multi city ticket but I don't book on their site I book with Expedia for TD as get a lot of points which I redeem for future travel. I book a hotel and flight to FLL then one way return. The price is the same but basically its 2 separate tickets. If there is a change in flight times or a cancelation I'm notified immediately. Most of the time it's very minor.
  21. Probably not worth it then as it will cost to spend a night in Orlando. Coming back from Rome next May will use Air Transat they are no better or worse than Air Canada and a fraction of AC's cost.
  22. Recently I've been using Porter to fly to FLL. They don't have a middle seat and service is always great. For my TA next year using Porter again as we sail out of Florida to Rome.
  23. I always check booking on my own vs FBC and find I can save more on my own plus FBC doesn't even offer the airline I usually book with its Toronto to FLL.
