Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Call me Mr. Suspicious but I wondering what are the advantages, financial or otherwise, for the Carnival corporation to force this on their cruise passengers. Could there be a financial incentive provided by StockPerks to Carnival for this lead generation arrangement?.
  2. Right on. I first went to work with an IBM 360 and learned Fortran IV with data fed in with punched cards. Now I have to ask my 8 year old grandson to help me with all this techie stuff.
  3. I sure don't like the idea of letting them have brokerage account information. That's personal information same as banking accounts. .
  4. Thanks for the warnings. I refused to do this for some upcoming Princess and Holland America cruises and fortunately my Princess Vacation Planner was able to get the OBC for me on the Princess cruise and for the Holland America one I just followed the old process of emailing my cruise details and a redacted brokerage statement for the Carnival share ownership and the OBC credits were added the following day.
  5. I emailed my OBC request along with proof of Carnival share ownership to HAL two days ago and received a reply the following day that the OBC credits had been posted to my next cruise.
  6. Thanks for this info. I will try again tomorrow
  7. That's what I was told today when I followed the previous process to get share OBC on an upcoming Princess cruise. Despite what the Princess Carnival Corporation shareholder benefit request from says that you can use email, fax or regular mail, that's no longer valid. Instead I was told to use a new Stock Pick app which apparently doesn't work for Canadians like us as it requires a ZIP code when you try and enroll. My vacation planner couldn't help me. All she said was I have to use the new process or I won't get my usual OBC. Frustrated Long Time Cruiser
  8. We we're recently on the Crown Princess and were amazed and disappointed at the changes since our last Princess cruise pre pandemic. Food quality and selections were worse and drinks more expensive but not surprising really as Carnival which owns Princess are struggling to return to profitability so are cutting expenses where they can and trying to increase revenue at the same time, in all areas they can impact. One of the big costs for them is the price of fuel that they can't do anything about, so they have to look at other areas for cost reductions. The balancing act for them is not to seriously impact the cruise experience that they lose passengers while they make these changes. On our Crown Princess cruise we had so many issues that I sent a letter to their customer relations department including the many issues but also noting some of the areas which were great including the wonderful staff. After 5 weeks they finally called to apologize and offered me a package of future cruise discounts and extra on-board spending credits, which I accepted. While it took a while to get their response (my Princess vacation planner said they get so many complaints it can take 2 to 3 months on average to get a response), it was a generous offer which I appreciated. We've used the discounts to book two back-to-back cruises on Discovery this coming Spring. The Crown was an older ship which caused some of the issues, engine problems, 3 separate fires, and a broker water pipe which flooded several cabins, so I'm hoping that our experience on Discovery as it's a newer ship which will be much better.
