Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I will clarify up front that my cruising experience amounts to one cruise. A year ago we cruised on Oceania in the Mediterranean. I use a wheelchair full time, 100%. I was told up front that the wheelchair couldn't be wider then 22 inches, though many phone calls and emails through my TA and Oceania couldn't give me a reason for that. To be safe, I made a series of modifications to my 27" wide wheelchair to get it down to 22.5". We figured out the first day of our cruise that 22" is how much clearance is left in the corridor when a housekeeping or room service cart is parked there, which they usually are. I could just squeeze by. I don't know if Regent corridors and carts are the same dimensions but if they are, relying on a wheelchair that doesn't fit by them would be a huge hassle. The staff using the carts may not be nearby.
  2. I hope you got your answers in time for your trip. I asked the same question about Oceania Riviera last spring and never got an answer. Turns out on that ship, 23 inches is the gap left in the hallway when passing a service cart, housekeeping or room service.
  3. Kitty, we are in the Riviera Owners Suite and the thresholds to all three deck access doors are about 5 inches high and five inches wide. No steps to enter either bathroom but the showers both have steps. They are approx 3 inches high and 3 inches wide. Both thresholds are curved, so in the master bath the threshold is (concave) narrower near the center and wider near the ends. Since it's a curved wall, your ramp will have a gap nearer the center. The other shower is the opposite, convex on the outer wall, so your ramp would have gaps nearer each end.
