  1. Hi

I have just been looking at a cruise on NCL

    Norwegian Sun

Dept Seoul 14th Nov 2025 for 11 nights.   I was drawn to it as it mentioned Hong Kong osaka nagoya Mt fuji.  However when you drill down it doesn't go anywhere near Hong-Kong

Does anyone know where we can point this out to them

The Supreme Court might have a different opinion.

As most of the customers were non US citizens I can't see the US supreme court will give a stuff.  In the UK we have something called ABTA. I plan on talking to them and I hope all the UK custmers do the same through the travel agents.  If enough agents see that customers are dissatisfied then they will think twice about promoting NCL

I think this is the only way to sort this out

Thank you. Some wish to focus only on the negative, as opposed to a proper perspective. Cruising is what it is. If you don't approach it from that perspective, you shouldn't be cruising.

I was also on the cruise and travel over 11000KM to board the ship, and many of the customers had come from Australia and China.  Whilst in general the cruise was great, NCL should have informed us as customer of the change in advance so we had the opportunity to cancel.  If the company was aware that the had to reduce speeds or potentially reduce speeds due to the rules set by IAATO then they should have warned us in advance.  I have spent many hours talking to our travel agent and they are as shocked as we are. I can honestly say that I loved the trip to the Falklands and Puerto Madryn, but the cruise back to Buenos Aires at around 13knts was a joke.  I am glad the weather was fine, as that could have been a horrific journey.  I have logged my complaint, and I have also praised the company where it was required, so I do think I am being fair.  Lets see what they respond with and what the travel agent in the UK and ABTA have to say. 🤞

    My email response from NCL.

Thank you for writing to Ms. Katty Byrd, Senior Vice President of Guest Services for Norwegian Cruise Line.

We deeply regret to learn of your disappointment in your cruise itinerary change. It is always our intention to maintain original itineraries. However, at times, unforeseen circumstances require us to make modifications. We assure you that such decisions are never made lightly, or without regard to the consequential disappointment caused to our much valued guests. We can certainly understand how this can have a diminishing effect on an otherwise enjoyable vacation. While every effort is made to adhere to the published schedule, there are those instances that necessitate change. Regrettably, we are not offering compensation in that regard. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

    Send that to the press

I'm not going to get involved in the discussion of what NCL did, or when they did it, or whether it was right or not, but I have to comment on this statement.

The IAATO (International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators), of which NCL is a member, has adopted, for the 2023-2024 season (so recently), a voluntary 10 knot reduced speed zones around Antarctic areas in order to reduce whale strikes.  So, this statement is not an untruth, but may have been not considered by NCL in time, or not passed to customers in a timely fashion.

So they must have know about this for sometime.

I would suggest that everyone on the impacted cruises open a case with NCL via the form at https://www.ncl.com/case-submission , unless a complaint was already registered with Guest Services. It's unbelievable that the only communication we have received on this matter is the letter on Day 1 that said they were "pleased to share" the revised itinerary with us. Given the amount of bad publicity that this situation has produced, I would have expected an apology email by now along with some kind of incentive to remain an NCL customer.

I have done that. Let's see what happens

All of which will likely yield a standard reply like "thank you very much for your email, it is very important to us." And that's the last you'll hear of it. It's about as useless as emailing a member of Congress.

So what would you recommend?  Should we just accept what's happened.

I have sent an email to them expressing my dissatisfaction ( a nice way of saying I'm pissed off)

I imagine he they will get a lot of emails.

The woman from Australia met with the captain and he said his direction came from head office in Miami. He told her that we could have done the full cruise but was told to do it the revised way. She held a meeting at Gatsby's the day after she met with the captain. There is a Whatsapp group for the last cruise that was used for this communication. Everyone is encouraged to file a complaint and to follow up with NCL corporate

I wish I had known about the Whatsapp group as I would have joined.

  10. Lets hope the Australian contingent that had meetings with senior crew (including the Captain) confirm what was said.  As someone who this affected, I am seriously annoyed.  To travel from the UK to South America and then only to be informed when we get on the boat it is not acceptable.  I can confirm that the front desk had over 4 pages of cabin numbers all complaining about the same issue.  We were all given the complaints number

Heard about this yesterday.  I get it.  I'm afraid the reason for this is an explanation NCL does not want to give....maybe crafting spin.

Personally, unless there were a full refund, I'd protest, too.

Its interesting, but some people on the cruise were told that this was a money saving item $1.2 Million imposed on the crew by head office.  The crew seemed to be in the dark as much as we the passengers were

We aren't there so you're our man on the scene . But you appear to be headed to Elephant Island with the dotted line projection course show you bouncing back to the Falkland Islands . No projection toward the Antarctica peninsula . We hope that it is wrong and that you make it to Paradise Bay .

There is a new thread on the Roll Call section that says that the next cruise on the 18th will miss Antarctica totally . We hate it when cruise lines do that after final payment .

Have seen a couple of these go on line and I would like to try and document my NCL Star cruise in Feb this this year.  I will attempt to post the information that will assist others wanting to consider this cruise.

The cruise starts in Buenos Aires, Argentina on the 4th on Feb 24 calling at Montevideo, Puerto Madryn, Ushsuai, Stanley (Falkland Islands) and back to Buenos Aires.  We will also travel the CHILEAN FJORDS, CHILE, PARADISE BAY, ANTARCTICA and ELEPHANT ISLAND/CAPE LOOKOUT, ANTARCTICA.

I will try to keep you up to date with photos and what is going on on the ship.

    The countdown has begun

Well this is shocking the cruise terminal is bedlam been waiting for over an hour to transfer to the checking area.  At the rate they are calling people for the transport from luggage drop off to the checking, it will be at least another hour
