  1. Thanks, Rick, that's good to know. I'll try to call this week to see if there are any available, but I do think our current room (a balcony) would probably be manageable. The shower is my one concern there; my last cruise I requested a shower seat, which they provided, but it didn't actually fit in the shower, and that was difficult, so I was looking forward to the larger + no barrier shower in the accessible room. Thanks, but we don't use travel agents. I'll bring as many aids as I can but also have to plan for transporting them in addition to luggage and think about what will actually be helpful for the trip.
  2. Hello, Made a separate thread (below) for a different question, but for background, I have limited mobility and use a cane, walker, or wheelchair, depending on how and what I'm doing on a particular day. My spouse and I are going on a Caribbean cruise in January as a big family reunion trip, and I'm looking for info on how accessible our specific ports are for various mobility aids. Suggestions on where/how to research this online would also be helpful. Specific things it would help to know include what the terrain/paving is like, are there lots of hills, if you have experience using a mobility aid at a specific port and how that went, are there benches/places to sit, and any recommendations you have for places to do or see while we're there that are accessible for folks with mobility disabilities. The ports are: San Juan, Puerto Rico Phillipsburg, St. Maarten St. John's, Antigua Castries, St. Lucia Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis Thanks for your support, Arin
  3. Hello, I was hoping to get some clarity for the process on getting an accessible cabin on Royal. I currently use a cane, walker, or wheelchair for mobility depending on how I'm doing. Whether I bring all three or leave one behind will depend on what my mobility is closer to the cruise (ex. I currently have a should injury and can't use the chair). When we first booked the cruise, my mobility limitations weren't as severe as they are now and we did not think to try for an accessible room. I would now like to change to an accessible room to have the option of bringing the chair, but not sure how. I completed the online accessibility form a couple of weeks ago and haven't received any follow-up. Is there anything else I need to do? Thanks for your help, Arin
  4. Hello, I've recently started using a cane to get around because of severe fatigue and difficulty getting up and down stairs. I'm sailing RCI out of Vancouver in May and not concerned about getting around the ship with just the cane as there are plenty of places to stop and sit as needed (so not planning on wheelchair rental) but am concerned about extended periods of standing during boarding and disembarkation. Any experience with borrowing a wheelchair just for those periods to avoid extended standing, or other accommodations? Thanks in advance, Arin
