  1. Thanks, Kaisatsu for validating what I was assuming/hoping! - that since I will not be on a ship like Hurtigruten or Havela, (I am cruising on Oceania) it will not really matter what side of the ship my cabin is on. By the way, I do hope to take a port-to-port Hurtigruten cruise from Bergen to Trondheim at some point. The Oceania cruise I am taking zips from Bergen to the Lofoten Islands on its way to the North Cape, skipping Alesund, Trondheim, etc.
  2. That is exactly what I was hoping - that the ship would not hug the coast when it was sailing and so it would not matter what side my cabin is on. Thanks for validating that!
  3. Hi All Are there tips and tricks for booking preferred rooms on Oceania before they disappear? A bit of context: I have not cruised since 2006 and the last time was on a huge ship where it was very easy to get a great cabin in a nice location, even a few months prior to sailing. I now have two cruises scheduled with Oceania - one in 2024 and another in 2025. It was a miracle that between me and my TA, we managed to grab my favorite cabin type in my favorite area of the ship for both cruises. I have found that it is very competitive when it comes to booking certain types of cabins in nice locations. I assume this is because the Oceania ships are relatively small and so with fewer rooms, and maybe also due to the fact that everyone is travel crazy right now. My short-term concern is that there is an Oceania cruise I would like to take in 2026. The 2026 cruises are not yet released/advertised, and I am already concerned about "will I find out about the cruises that go to this country before my preferred types of cabin/location disappear?" Are there any tips and tricks for knowing when a cruise is released and advertised? Also, do past cruisers get notified first? For example, is there some kind of "Oceania Preferred Cruisers" group that gets first dibs on the best rooms? Thanks in advance, Leslie
  4. Hi All - Hubs and I are cruising up the coast of Norway next year (from the very bottom to the tippy top) and are super excited! Since the ship is going in only one direction - South to North - I would assume that it is best if the cabin we book is on the left so that our balcony faces the coast. However, we have only been able to grab a (lovely) cabin on the right. But I am wondering... for those of you who have cruised up the coast of Norway, does the ship even sail close enough to the coast so you can enjoy the views or does it go so far out that the coast all but disappears? Thanks in advance! Leslie
  5. Hello All - My husband is vegan and so I am looking for ocean-based cruises that serve vegan dishes. Oceania appears to have an amazing array of vegan offerings so we are considering cruising with them. However, we are also very interested in Viking. Unfortunately, they do not have a vegan based menu though I have heard they will do their best to accommodate vegan customers. That being said, "accommodate" can mean many different things - are there any vegans out there who have cruised with Viking relatively recently? If so, can you share your experience? I wish Viking had a vegan menu or at least standard vegan dishes, like so many other cruise lines these days. Thanks!
