Oh good. This gives me hope for our Carnival Spirit cruise in Aug.

🤯🤯 I've never not ran into traffic in LA regardless of the day of the week. I mean there's free stretches on the weekend at night on occasion but generally there's always traffic.

I did read this. Any idea what they mean by "commuter service"? I know there's commuter planes, but is there a chance they'd put me on Amtrak or Greyhound 😱 instead?

When I did a mock booking, NCL was quoting me $138pp so I was just considering if it was even worth the hastle. I like the idea of not driving thru traffic and being able to leave the car parked at home. However, the time commitment and unfavorable flights might outweigh the pros.

Hi y'all! I have a couple questions regarding airfare to the LA port. I guess the first is which airport does NCL fly to and second will they still book a flight even if you're under 100 miles away? Normally I would just drive but I'm curious to know.

The other thing is, do any of you have any experience with using their airfare promos but declining the port transfers. Is this an option?

After going thru these posts I'm now convinced all ships should have a scavenger hunt sheet with their interesting decor. Even better if there was a prize for finding them all, even just a sticker.

The OP has been a member of CC for some time. If she had been following the boards she would have known that the POA has had staffing issues and has been canceling booked cruisers for some time, and may have anticipated this possibility.

I would be sad and disappointed, too, but plain anger doesn't solve anything. I'm with most other posters: take advantage of the FCC to rebook for next year. Then you're only out the difference in fare + taxes and fees. Take the refund of the cruise paid and book another vacation for the same time frame this year. It doesn't have to be a cruise. $4K can go a long way.

I received one a few weeks before paid in full. $166 from inside to Oceanview. Did not take it because I don't like the lower decks. Also, they only offered it for one of the two rooms in my reservation. Never would I move half my party to another section of the ship, ***** Carnival?

Loving this review! Sure puts the Miracle on my must check it out list.

The exchange rates on the ones without the taped over mxn prices are hilarious. I always ask if they take Visa cuz then they'll charge you the MXN price and I'll get the most favorable rate by the bank. 

Frankly I find mac n cheese, hot dogs, and chicken nuggets bland and one dimensional. I encourage my kids whenever possible to try new foods. Of course it's a vacation, and they'll be allowed all that, just not every meal. I imagine most of the kids meal options appear in the buffet too? They've discovered they like all sorts of things like sushi, fried calamari, huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, curry, pho... IMO vacations are about exploring new destinations as much as new foods!! I sincerely hope the adult menus feature some variety. 

I was wondering if the kids menu is the same for all sailings for all dining rooms. It seems so boring to have the kids given the same choices every time!

Ferry_Watcher, Soul Play is what they call the painting studio onboard. They had 2 classes that offered a painted totebag and maybe 4 more that were painted canvases. The leader provided all the supplies and gave step by step directions to paint a northern lights type scene with a moon or whale tail, or mountains.   I thought at one point it said it cost extra, but a charge never appeared on my account so I don't know if that was an oversight or not.  

They said it was an adult level class and that kids needed to be able to keep up with the class. There were a few kids in our class that did great, I think as long as they can attend to the instructions and have some interest in the painting they will be fine. 

 

Movies-I remember Encanto, No Time to Die, Lost City--and I think there were others? 

 

They also had a few Alaskan themed events/games on the Lido deck that would be fun for kids-ax throwing (with foam axes,) a carnival type event after Ketchikan, etc. 

 

The arcade is pretty large, if you are into those type games, and be sure you check out the Jungle area on deck 3 forward and the main theater (It has an egyptian theme that kids would love)

DS shared that the kids and teen club areas on the Spirit were larger and nicer than the ones on the Legend.  There are also 2 pools and the waterslides up top--it was a little cold for us but plenty of kids were swimming.

Thanks for the review!! I'm definitely going to try for the SoulPlay. Is this something kids are welcome to do also? If I signed up myself could I share the craft with one of my kids. I like crafting but definitely don't need extra 😂. 

Can you share what movies were onboard? And a else specific that you can remember being kid friendly from the cruise? 

I'm bummed out that the Dr Seuss activities aren't running right now, so I'm trying to get a sense of what activities I could drag my kids out of kids club to do with me.

Neither. Lanyards are okay but if I'm having to regularly hand someone my card I might opt for a zip zip thingy (i.e. badge reel).

I'm glad they close periodically; otherwise my kids might forget about the rest of what the cruiseline has to offer. They might even come home complaining they never got to go on the water slide if I left them in the club all day. Plus, it's nice to have set times during a vacation to re-connect with my kids (6 and 8).

I love these recommendations but going by name alone, I'd have no idea what I'm drinking. Some basic descriptions would be incredibly helpful!

I can't understand NCL Free at Sea promotion and how this applies to kids! First I did the booking online, but with their glitchy website it didn't initially add the FAS to my booking although at the time of booking it showed as selected. I went through the steps again only to discover that without unchecking and re-checking beverages and dining the gratuities were not added to the package cost. Once the gratuities are added, the system quotes me $554.4 ($138.60 x 4) for the beverage gratuities, however the kids are minors and obviously would not be drinking. Online it says Hawaii beverage package is only applicable to guest 1-2, so why is the system quoting me gratuities for 4? Also, are kids normally included for beverage packages in the free at sea promotion? Wouldn't they automatically get downgraded to a soda package?

If anyone has experience with FAS and cruising with minors, can you answer any of the above?
