  1. Of course, I do feel that much in here is a friendly discussion, including you post. But, not all are. Edited In: Also, at least one, probably others are just spouting misinformation or misconceptions. But, I'll not rehash them. I've had my say.
  2. Totally agree. I'd hate to see it go. But, having said that, maybe it is time for a change. Maybe old farts like me (for those finding fault in every word typed, I said, "like me") need to let go of the past, the 50s. The decade Rock & Roll was discovered.
  3. I'm happy for you. BTW, when I say that, I'm not being a wise guy. I'm really happy people find things they really like to do.
  4. Just to be clear, I didn't say you were. I only said that I didn't feel the need to justify my opinion. And that is what it seemed you were doing.
  5. We noted that JR's was mostly empty when we were there too on the Independence. I attributed that to the physical appearance of the place. Like I said, it presents the perception of unclean, worn-out and just uninviting. We usually just went in for a Milkshake but did eat there once and, again like I said, the burger was bland, missing something. Not what I expected. Maybe on the older ships, they just aren't being kept up as nicely as they are on the Oasis ships. However, I don't know that for a fact. All I can say for sure, JR's was a bit of a disappointment for us on the Ovation.
  6. I'm wondering if some folks are reading this? This is from post #1 and is the last sentence. I don't understand the pushback.
  7. I don't know why but my post/response got chopped up and much missing. But, I'll leave it at that.
  8. Sorry, most, of my answers above are me trying to be a wise guy. Why? Because I really don't feel the need to justify my opinions, especially when I don't knock others for their opinions. I'm really only interested in responding, critically, to things that I feel are not exactly as described or are and in some cases are B.S. But, I don't criticize other people's well intentioned and personal opinions/desires. This is not to say that you have mischaracterized or B.S.ed anything. If you don't think Coco Cay is overrated, that's great, for you, not for me. In fact, I really really really dislike the Bahamas as a whole but that's a whole other story.
  9. I'm not sure if the deal has been completed yet, or not. But, Tim Horton's and Burger King are co-owned now. I think Burger King has or will be moving it's HQ to Canada, somewhere.
  10. I was born in Catherine Boothe (sp?) hospital. My dad was the head golf pro at Marlborough Golf Club in Cartierville, then after Marlborough was sold to make a subdivision, Hillisdale Golf Club in Ste. Therese (again, sp?) and then another in Ste. Jean, don't remember the name of the club. He started out at the Toronto Hunt Club before I was born. We used to migrate between Canada (Montreal) and south Florida because of my dads profession. We eventually settled full time in Florida. Don't know if it shows but English WAS my second language. I've long since forgotten most of my French, I can still cuss in French though.
  11. Man, I thought you were going to say you found a dead rat or something like that in it. Yuk!
  12. Love "everything" bagels w/a large schmeer of Cream Cheese.
  13. My family is from Toronto and I spent most of my childhood during the summer months visiting my Aunt, Uncle and cousin's that lived in Stouffville, still have some family in Stouffville and Uxbridge. I just lost a cousin that lived in Newmarket. My uncle and his son, the one that recently passed, owned Quality Utilities, a plumbing supply company, that was HQ'ed out of Richmond Hill, with branches in Oshawa (sp?), Barrie, Lindsay and a few other cities/towns in Ontario. They have long since sold, made them millionaires the business and I don't even know if it still exists. I used visit the area. But, not since before the COVID debacle. Looking forward to going back, soon. I still have a lot of cousins that I want to reconnect with. BTW, I was born and raised in Montreal.
  14. There is an absolutely great one in Warren, MI. One of the few with a bar in it. Great draft beer that is very cold and a good variety of beer. If you sit in the bar, you get full service by an actual server, usually the bar tender if it's slow. And the servers have a great sense of humor, give back what they get. Love it. The banter is fun.
  15. You'd probably prefer a Tim Horton's, eh! LOL I love Tim Horton's but not the one in Markham on 48. It was nasty and may not even be there anymore. I do like the one in Stouffville. I wish we had more of them down here in the U.S. I do buy their coffee grounds when available at Sam's.
  16. Like I said, it depends on where the location is and what burger you purchase. When I cruise, I have the Deluxe Beverage Package or the Refreshment Package which both include sodas, water, and/or shakes at JR's. So, other than the drinks if you don't have a drink package, everything else is included in the $11.99. Full disclosure, I'm not sure about the desserts, if they are included in the $11.99 or not, haven't gotten to them yet. Look, I'm not trying, as stated many times, to change anybody's minds about Guy's, Johnny Rocket's, Florida State Penitentiary, or any other venue. This is my preference, my opinions and why, nothing more, nothing less other than to be factual, I have no opinion of your opinions. I state things as I see them. Again, nothing more, nothing less. If you think JR's is a rip off or an unnecessary upcharge, so be it. I don't, so be it. But, I do think that the discussion is good to have. Apparently, I'm in the minority here. And that's fine. But, I think the discussion is good and some good information is coming out of it. Isn't that what these forms are all about, to discuss our experiences and opinions of those experiences. To be honest, if I had my way, I'd prefer Fuddrucker's or Culver's over Johnny Rockets, any day, all day. Full service or not!
  17. I just checked the price of a Johnny Rocket's burgers at stand along venues. Depending on the location and the burger you order, the price for a burger alone can be as much as ~$11.99 and that doesn't include any sides. Just say'in.
  18. The only way I can answer that and it really pertains to what my/our taste and preference is, we enjoy "FULL SERVICE" where/when possible. We also enjoy the 50's theme and the occasional entertainment by the staff. I believe the cost is minimal when we have to pay for it (if you cruise Star Class, it's included, which is not something we do every cruise, it's like 50/50 for us). I enjoy the WJ, too. But, usually only for breakfast and very early before the multitude of hands get involved. Funny thing, we haven't had breakfast in JR's yet.
  19. Just to be clear, as stated in my OP, I'm not comparing burger to burger. I'm dissatisfied with Guy's lack of full service, having to go to the BlueIguana for a drink and my experience is that it is almost always very busy and a long line to get a drink as Guy's is only open for Lunch and that's the busiest time of the day for that area. And waiting on servers to get a drink is/can be a long wait, too. My wife or I had to go to the bar or elsewhere to get a drink, or bring one with us, and the fix'ins island is an issue for us. I'm happy to pay an upcharge for full service. BTW, I've had to wait in line at Guy's for up to a half hour to get a burger as it is a very popular venue and is only open for lunch/limited hours. And yes, to be honest, JRs can be busy and a wait for a seat is possible. But, it isn't a wait in a long line. I respect your and other's opinions. You like what you like and I like what I like. I'm not trying to turn you or anybody else away from anything, as someone is trying to say I am. I'm just stating what my observations are and explain why.
  20. Don't know, I've never had desert at JR's, other than the milkshakes. I'm usually too full to get to that point.
  21. Quote where I told people they were wrong! Yes, I will always take a shot at a business that treats their customers like I've been treated by Rustbucket Cruise Lines (a whole different story). BTW, this forum and others are filled with people expressing their negative opinions about lots of other cruise lines, including Rustbucket Cruise lines, and just about everything else. I never told anybody not to patronize Carnival, did I! I only expressed my dislike of the venue called Guy's and why. Did I ever say that people were "taking pot shots" at anybody/thing. If so, quote me. As you stated above, "The other post you were talking about was just people listing their feelings", which is exactly what I was doing here. If anything, I was acknowledging that I MAY have to reevaluate my position of Johnny Rocket's after trying it on other ships again and I also stated that RCCL needs to give JR's a little more attention on Independence. Yes, you probably went back and read the words in the post. But, you obviously inserted some kind of bias, not fact. I'd be willing to bet that if I didn't mention that I am 71 years old, nothing would have been said. Hence the reference to "GET OFF MY LAWN!", which was not my intent or even alluded to. I swear, if someone stated that they didn't like the color of the blue sky today there'd be someone waiting in the wings to criticize it.
  22. Totally agree about the fries. We overcome that by asking them to cook them until crispy/brownish/well done, seems to help. In fact, we ask that of every restaurant that we get fries from, not just on RCCL/Johnny Rocket's.
