  1. Be sure to check out CSA travel ins. The coverage is much greater then what Carnival offers and cheaper as well. It is rated AAA so I am comfortable buying their policy for each cruise. Travel Ins. is a must when ever you leave the country in MHO.

  2. ;p We were on the Vista in January and did the brewery tour. $25. each had a great time and very interesting.

As for the Horizon I don't think they are going to have the brewery on that ship.In fact I tried to find the Pub on its deck plans and did not see it listed. They will have the pub just don't know why it's not on the deck plan.

  3. ;p We have been on both cruise lines and prefer Carnival for it's upbeat atmosphere. We love the Sunshine and will be sailing on her come this Friday. Same port as your cruise will go to, great ports really like Old San Juan.

One note on the Sunshine it has some of the best food of any ship we have been on and the crew was really great onour last cruise. I'm sure you will enjoy your cruise.

  4. :cool:Last Oct on the Magic we bought 3 bottles the first night and got to take them back to our room with us. If it was a corked bottle they had to uncork it but the screw off tops were no big deal.

Thatoneguy you must be one man that is hard to please. WE always enjoy the food and always leave over full.Rnjoy all.

  5. We were on the Vista the first week of Jan. and the 8 day price was $90. I thought that a bit high so we only paid for 2 days at $16 a day. I thought Carnival was going to compete with land based resorts with their high speed internet. Did I say high speed LMAO bring you patients when using their internet.

  6. I always register my card with Carnival for the on board account. I never never use a card in a foreign port. Its cash or nothing. Now we don't buy that much so cash always works. We do prepay the gratuities to save that bill after the vacation. Don't tip extra unless the person give exceptional service, it's not necessary. Contrary to the opinion that the staff are not making money the staff are making out just fine. Talk them while on board and you will be surprised and what they do with what they earn on the ship. We always book tours through Carnival because they will wait for their tours to return before they leave port. Yes it coast a little extra but I think it's well worth it. During your cruise be sure to try at least once all the food venues offered. No cruise line feeds you like Carnival. Been on RC,NCL and Princess and the food on all 3 were second to Carnival. I'm sure others will give some very good advice and enjoy your cruise. Your about to be hooked like the rest of us.;p

  7. We have cruised on Carnival 42 times, RCCL Princess and NCL and have never had a temp. issue in our cabin. Now on Carnival we always get an Ocean View on level 1 or 2. That could be a cooler location on the ship. We had Balconies and never used them so we don't book them any more. If any thing we lower the temp in the cabin. I carry a room thermometer with us and try to keep the cabin about 72F to 74F. Never had a problem. The thermometer is a good idea in case you do have an issue you can show the service person firs hand.

Just an added note, we were told that the cooling system on the ships is done with cold water not refrigeration. Don't know if

that's true but it came from a ship officer.

  8. On the Magic last Oct. 15 and the New Years Eve cruise on the Vista, Both Roll Calls had more then the 25 sign ups but no M&M on either ship. Asked at the Service desk and the girl had no information and could find none. So much for Carnival working with CC guests. I'm signed up for the 3/17/17/ cruise on the Sunshine.only 22 sign ups so far. I don't hold to much hope for this M&M getting off the ground. They sound like a fun time, I wish they would turn out better. Just one note to add. If Carnival is told that there are 40 CC guests signed up and they prepare for 40 people and only 6 show up can't really blame them for not taking CC M&M seriously.

  9. Always a good evening and a great meal with outstanding service. I always tip 20% even knowing the $35 PP includes the tip. The gratuity goes to so many workers in the Steak House and it's such a good time I don't think the added 20% is excessive. One added point on the first night of the cruise you get a free bottle of the house wine or 50% off any bottle on their wine list. WE always get 3 bottles and they last us for the cruise.

  10. The last 2 cruises we were on, the Magic in Oct. 2016 and the Vista Jan. 2017 our M&M numbers were far above the 25 needed for Carnival to arrange a time and place for the M&M. On both cruises Carnival did nothing. We inquired at the Service desk and all they would say is that we would get a notice in our cabin if there was to be one. They could not or would not tell us if there was to be one. Kind of strange I thought but then we were busy having

a good time on our cruise and never checked again. Good luck on your M&M gang we gave up on them.

  11. I have used TAs in the past but fail to see an advantage. I have for years now booked directly with Carnival. Any ? you have will be answered by Carnival and adjustments are made while you are on the phone. How can you beat that?

  12. Used it on the Sunshine and the Vista. As mentioned the vista has the machines at about 5 tables in the pub. I tried it once and it worked great. They only offered 2 beers on them they were the IPA and the dark. Both good beers. Cheapest beer on the ship unless you get a freebie.

  13. Good advice on SJ for 10$ can't beat it we have done it many times. As for the balcony we always get an ocean view. I found that we never used the balcony and I think you get more room in the ocean view and you also get 2 bath rooms. Only one toilet but 2 showers and vanities. I love the ocean view cabins so close to the water. Which ever you chose have a great cruise.

  14. I think we can forget about gifts from Carnival. This new CEO watches the bottom line and that's all she wrote. We used to get stuff we could take home and use. No more sorry to say. Goes to show how much Carnival values the Diamond and Platinum guests (:.
