Does the NCL Encore have a Syds? How are the lines on this ship? ? Leaving in two weeks!

What would you do if you had just one day in Progresso?

Taxis are not recommended here as they are unregulated. Get a tour guide at port or they will pick you up and return you.
I just emailed this company and registered for the day you do not have to pay until you get there and you can lower your package from full day to basic which is now 55 dollars Pp. and they will pick you up from port and return you!!
Apologize If this question has been answered often in the past.. I searched a little and did not find an answer.Do you have to pre-book Little French Key?
Cruising to Roatan on the NCL Pearl (Nov 26, 2017) and not sure what we will feel like doing that day. Was curious to see if we can wing it and just decide that day to go there? And if we can are we able to just take a taxi there and pay at the door?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Sand fleas
in Roatan
Thanks Everyone! I did read about the cactus juice and I paid an extra 20 to have one rushed here as we are leaving Friday!! But I’m also bringing deet! I sure wish I didn’t have to worry about these but I have had some severe reactions. At the time I never saw anything until days later!! No see uns!!!
They are seasonal... so one day can be flea-free, another day can be horrible. They live in wet areas, like around docks, in wooden structures, etc.
We don't think DEET works well for them, plus it kills the coral and fish if you swim after applying it...so we prefer Cactus Juice, a natural product that you can buy online. It smells great, and doesn't burn the skin like DEET does to me. Plus it isn't harmful to the ocean life.
Check it out.... available from their website and also now on Amazon I think.

Sand fleas
in Roatan
Well apparently Roatan has sand fleas.
My Deet is on the way!
I am allergic to them. My question is are they worse at Little French Key or in front of infinity bay? If anyone has experience with this.

Thank you all for the suggestions! We leave Friday! I am researching every suggestion! I think the reason for Sunday visit is that it’s a nine day cruise!

Thank you for your response to this question!! Is there any way to rent chairs and an umbrella at the beach by Callico Jacks?!!!
quote=bookbabe;52847264]My recommendation would be to take a taxi to the Calico Jacks/Public Beach area of Seven Mile Beach. (The Seagrape Beach section is now a hotel that does not allow day visitors to use any of the facilities, even for a fee.)
Seven Mile Beach is the main tourist section of the island. It's pretty well-developed. The quietest sections you're going to find there will be places like Cemetary Beach (farthest section from the port area) where there are no facilities. (Facilities = people) All of the sections of SMB are easily accessible by taxi or public bus from the port area.
Outside of George Town there are numerous nice beaches that may (or may not) have fewer people. The quietest ones will again be those that have no facilities such as restrooms, food, drink, etc. Those beaches will all require either a rental car, or in the case of some of the closer ones, a taxi with a prearranged return time.
Cayman doesn't have the type of private and/or all-inclusive beach resorts that some other islands do.
In general, along Seven Mile Beach, there's three types of beach access spots.
Hotels:
- very, very rarely sell day passes or allow cruise ship visitors to use their facilities, as they are often fully booked with stayover visitors and it's just not worth the hassle for them
Beach Clubs (for lack of a better term):
- these are really just bars/restaurants along the beach, with nice facilities they allow people (cruise ship visitors, locals, stayover visitors, whoever) to use in hopes that those people will spend money on food and drinks...and they don't allow outside food/drinks to be brought in, so they've got a pretty good chance
- popular spots include Royal Palms, Calico Jacks and Tiki Beach
Public Beaches:
- these are sections of beach that may or may not have any facilities, and are generally reached by a path from the road marked "beach access"
- popular spots include Public Beach (next to Calico Jacks), Governor's Beach and Cemetery Beach (both named after the landmark beside it)
Technically, all beaches are public (and therefore free) up to the high water mark. Nothing is fenced in, and you can walk the length of the beach along the water without being charged any admission fees.
In order to put your towel down on the sand above that high water mark, you either need to be at one of the public beach sections or at one of the beach clubs that has specifically encouraged people to visit.
You can't (legally, anyway) put your towel down in front of a condo building or hotel complex, or use their facilities, without permission of the owners/management.
There's really not that much difference between the various 7MB locations when it comes down to it. It's really personal preference. Most spots are free/cheap. All have restrooms and outdoor showers, and will have lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent. Most have a watersports operator there or nearby for rentals. None are the type of huge AI beach clubs you'll find in other ports like Cozumel. The biggest differences I've noticed are distance from the port area and the restaurant menu, plus the couple of notes below.
In order of distance (closest first) from the port area:
Royal Palms - http://royalpalmscayman.com/
- has an adults-only pool and rental beach cabanas
- doesn't do cruise ship excursions, has a $2pp entry fee
Public Beach/Calico Jacks - https://www.facebook.com/CalicoJacksGrandCayman
- not really a commercial beach club like the others, it's the actual public beach area with a restaurant next door
- has a playground nearby, and has public picnic shelters (free, first come first served)
- sometimes has excursions, no entry fee
Tiki Beach - http://www.tikibeachcayman.net/
- beach is a little narrow compared to the other spots (at least the last time I was there)
- most popular location for cruise excursions
- some have reported a high entry fee (incl chair & drink) but that isn't consistent

Thank Yall I called and got the email to the activities person and sent two emails and one of my first dissapointments in booking excursions, they are full on april 17. dang it I just wanted a pool day while my husband snorkeled that great reef out front. Any other suggestions? The last time we tried to see Roatan Carnival sailed right by in June of 2011, just decided not to stop that day. lol go figure I had infinity booked for that day.
-
Does anyone have the e-mail address to book a day at Infinity Bay. I cant get them to answer my e-mail but I just started trying. We will be there on the 17 of April. I would really like to stay there for the day. So if you know how to contact them, Let me know.
Also if anyone has been there do tell about your day!

Our Condolences to all people involved
What parts of Roatan are not safe. Is there any particular places to avoid or transportation means to avoid. I don't know the details of this case but I live near New Orleans which is not really safe either. No where safe anymore. But I am asking if taxis are safe? We are going next week unless Carnival decides to ride right by Roatan like they did last time we went to see this island, two years ago. That day they said it was windy but it definitely was not windy. No wind at all. very frustrating.

How much are you allowed to bring on board?

Thanks, for your positive review, I feel a little better. We will be doing the land and sea tour with Spencer Ambrose, We would like to make a stop to snorkel Anse Chastanet, I'm going to try and talk him into changing up his tour a bit because their are so many complaints about the Piton beach being churned up and crowded. I wont care either way I can go with the flow. I got really concerned when I read some negative reviews .I I don't know what is going on with him but I am very happy to hear you had a positive experience!! I'm done with the planning and ready to pack!!
-
Does any one have any more input for this thread since 2012. Would love to hear your experiences.

Anybody use serenity tours? Im nervous about spencer now!! Why was there an argument about the boat?
-
Thank you for responding. I knew the reviews were a tad mixed but I myself had not read a bad one. I'm confused now. What worries me is if it is a rainy day and you are in a boat that cannot be pleasant. Plus we have my sister in law and brother in law with us and they do not enjoy snorkeling. Hmm I just don't know how to play this day!!
-
This was my least favorite part of St. Lucia as well. We are going again on Nov. 10 and I made them promise not to go there bc of the smell!! Bring me to the Pitons! Great Review and Very Kind of you to answer everyone! Cant wait to read the rest!
-
Thanks for the information! That is very interesting to us:)) I can't wait to look into it!
-
I cant pull up the St. Thomas Marriott with that link, did you have a different one?
-
-
Can you tell me about the Marriots beach? Is it hard to get to? How much are the day passes and if you have an e-mail cd you let me know what it is or how to book this resort for the day. Love the infinity pool, on trip advisor that looks like fun!

Awesome review of San Juan, I haven't even thought of it yet, just started planning 2 weeks ago for Nov. 10, cannot put computer down. I am obsessed!! Now I know there are waterfalls in San Juan, and a rain forest!!! Maybe I'll stop being stressed and get excited.:o I cant wait to read the rest!

Hello Don, I got a quick answer from my e-mail, Illl copy and paste, Im very disappointed we cannot use the pools tho, we used an infinity pool in Mykeenos Greece summer before last and it was the best day of my life!
Good Morning from the Crane Guest Services
Thank you for your email
In regards to the use of our facilities we have a day pass for the cost of $25.00which allows you access to use the beach. The day pass can be redeemed at any of our restaurants on the resort, however this does not include the use of the pool.
Unfortunately we do not have any area that you can shower and change, only our bathrooms are available. Beach chairs will be available on the beach by one of the independent business owners and should cost no more than about $15 USD per chair.
It is recommended that you contact the hotel on the day you prefer to use the day pass to inquire about our occupancy, this usually determine if day passes will be sod on the given day.
Kind Regards

Did you find out? I just sent an e-mail but I was wondering if you found out and I wonder why more people don't pursue this, its so beautiful:cool:
