  1. Husband and I went through Manhattan Cruise Terminal last month. He got sent to immigration after doing the facial recognition, on the way home. He doesn't look much different than the photo on his passport, which he got in 2016, just a bit older. So not sure why.
  2. Sounds like we were on the same cruise! The Getaway? NCL did give a $50 per person shipboard credit though, due to the itinerary change.
  3. No, unfortunately we didn't get the notification until the evening before the cruise, when we were already in NYC. 🤷‍♀️
  4. I must admit that I am jealous! My husband and I were supposed to sail to Bermuda last month, from NYC, on the Getaway. We ended up in Rhode Island, Maine and Canada instead, because of Hurricane Fiona. Sigh...
  5. My husband and I used the NCL bogo airfare promotion for our cruise on the Getaway out of NYC last month. We did not get to choose the airline, arrival airport or flight times. NCL booked us on United. We did a one day deviation, so we could fly in a day early. They picked an early morning flight to Newark, leaving at 8:30am. That one got canceled by United a few days before our trip, so we ended up being switched by NCL to a 6:30am flight. That was exhausting, having to be at the airport by 4:30am. Fortunately the hotel let us check in about 11am, instead of making us wait until the 3pm check-in time. We had to pay $125 extra, to United, for a checked bag a piece, on the two round-trip flights. Our flight home from Newark was scheduled for 5pm, so we had 6 1/2 hours of sitting at the airport waiting for our flight. There were several earlier flights to Cleveland, so it was irritating not getting to take one of those. We did not get to sit together on either flight. United wanted a fee to choose our own seats, which I didn't want to pay. Not sitting together wasn't a big deal though. We did not do NCL ground transportation to the cruise port, but we did do it for the cruise port to the airport on disembarkation day. The good thing was the flight even with baggage was significantly cheaper than booking a flight on our own. If you aren't on a budget, I'd say book flights on your own.
  6. My husband and I were on the 9/22 cruise as well. We were also very disappointed about missing Bermuda, although it was understandable. I just wish NCL had notified passengers of the itinerary change earlier. We were in NJ/NYC the day before the cruise, and had packed for warm weather. We had to buy sweatshirts in Newport. We liked Newport and Portland. We live in Ohio, so we'd like not have made it to either place otherwise. I agree that St. John was a dud. We didn't stay off the ship long there. St. John, Newfoundland looks like it's a lot more scenic, with more to do, so it's too bad we didn't make it there instead. We did get the $80 for our Bermuda travel authorizations refunded to our shipboard account.
  7. I'm on the Getaway tomorrow. That itinerary change seems illogical to me. Why head towards the hurricane?? We were supposed to get to Bermuda on Saturday. The storm will be past Bermuda by then, so why not just go to Bermuda??
  8. So NCL is or was doing a second test on board before arrival in Bermuda? Are they still doing this? Husband and I are heading out on NCL on Thursday to Bermuda. Got tested at CVS today.
  9. I'm leaving on the Getaway for Bermuda this Thursday. I applied for the travel authorization for my husband and I on 8/21. Got an email with the approvals 9/12. So it appears to be taking about three weeks for processing.
  10. My husband and I are also set to sail on the Getaway this Thursday. Following for updates about the hurricane. I'm very worried about it.
