Did the suit really prove "the propulsion system is neither safe nor reliable"?  Or is it possible the suit decided that the propulsion system isn't as safe nor as reliable as ABB promoted it to be?

The link to the judgment summary is what we all now know.   If there’s something in it you want clarification on, that would require conjecture, and I’m fresh out of it at this time.

I was just hoping someone may have come across other news about revamping of any of the ships’ propulsion systems and so far it doesn’t look like it.

We're doing Los Lobos on our first at sea day.  Funny you should mention this.  Until I saw Pati Jinich demonstrate how Mole is made on her PBS show, Pati's Mexican Table, I'd never heard of Mole.  I was a little freaked out when I saw how it basically begins with incinerated peppers.  And evere since then I've been fascinated by it and can't wait to try it.  This was going to be time to do it.

How was it?  I mean, how was the sauce specifically?

  3. Last month, Norwegian Cruise Line's lawsuit partners, Holland & Knight won a $159M judgment against ABB for misrepresenting the safety and reliability of their Azipod propulsion system.

Great.   So now what?   Is NCL still using these systems, if they now have such little faith in them that they have successfully charged ABB with being fraudulant about their misrepresentations?

If they're not safe, have they swapped them out already?

    Anyone know?

  4. What NCL is most pressing about is that your identification match what is listed on your PASSPORT.  It's the State Department who will make a big whoopteedoo over a missing middle name.  If your middle name doesn't appear on your passport, or you're on a cruise that will not require one you're probably smooth sailing.

On this topic - I bid for an upgrade on 1/21-1/28/23 cruise on the Escape.  When I log into NCL app & website I don't see anywhere where I can see my bid or status.  Any advise please?

Go back through the Room Upgrades link just as though you were going to bid on another room.  You will have to re-insert your last name and booking confirmation number.  The next page should show you your most recent bid.  (You can also click or swipe right to see the other available items for bid in case you want to bid on two staterooms at once.)  There won't be any status updates until just under a week before embarkation when they start to award the bids.

I just got off the phone AGAIN with NCL and they are now saying that they can link all of the reservations but since we included the air promo they would need to charge us an extra $100 per guest to do so....... I asked for an explanation but the rep really did not have one. I think I will have my wife call......lol. She has sharper teeth than I do.

Perhaps "sharp teeth" isn't what's called for here.   Perhaps a gentle, neighborly:

"Awesome, thanks for getting this done for me.   One last thing, is there anything I can do to get that hundred dollars waved?"

    ...might be more in order?

  7. I would draw your attention to the caveat (mentioned twice, in the first sentence and the last sentence of the opening paragraph) that "...destination specific travel requirements supersede any NCL embarkation protocols".

It also cautions you to read the entire document carefully so that you are aware of the requirements specific to the country you are visiting.

So, you decided to book this cruise entirely because they served coke?  That's just nuts.

Honestly, I think this thread was started by someone who just wanted to play comment hall monitor.

I called NCL Latitudes IT today, and was told to log out of NCL.com, chose a new password and log back in.  It worked!  Who knows what gremlins messed up my account before?!?

I’m in communications and entertainment.  I have to deal with IT support almost every day.

They have this little trick when they’re not particularly ready to help you with whatever problem you’re having.

They give you 5 or 6 meaningless little busy-tasks to go off and do before they will let you in to see the Wizard.   Like bring back a broomstick.  Or change your password.

Hmmm.... The Prima was christened on August 27, 2022 with the first paying cruise commencing afterward.

We sailed on the Breakaway on August 14, 2022 and we had Coke products already (the Breakaway switched from Pepsi to Coke during the week of August 8, 2022).

So,,, Your "incorrect" is incorrect. Ships were serving Coke products before the Prima.

    @YVRteacher is correct.

Ah now we have TWO wrongs.  But that doesn’t make you right.

@kasimir already addressed your bad Bliss info.  As to how you got your hands on some Coke on the Breakaway?   Well, we only have your word for that.

just to be clear, if you cancel the drink package you only save on the 20% gratuities.  You don't save anything on the cruise fare.  To actually save on the cruise fare, you'd have to pick a sailaway cabin, which would mean not picking your own cabin and you'd lose all the free at sea promos, except you'd still get the shore excursion credit

True.  For two people the Premium Drink pack is $136 pd pp.  For our trip that would have been $828 total if we didn’t get it as a promtional addon and just paid for it.   After I canceled ours we received two refunds:   $390 and $108.
