Hi grandgeezer, mom says, we dock on day 11 of our cruise, we stay onboard in port overnight and then disembark the ship the following day to make our journey home

Please can someone tell me what is the typical time that customs clearance starts on disembarkation day. I understand that it may differ from port to port, I'm particularly interested in the port of Mumbai. Thanks in advance

Thank you for all of your comments. We dock at 6:30am in Mumbai on day 11 of our cruise, stay overnight and we disembark on day 12. If clearance was to take place on day 12 what is the typical time that this process starts and has anyone experienced clearance in Mumbai and typically when does it start and how long before it is completed?

Hi TheOldBear, thank you, what you say about clearing everyone with the luggage makes sense.

If possible please can someone clarify the following. We are booked on our first ever cruise and we are going with Celebrity and we arrive at our last port at 6:30am. On this day we do not disembark the ship and there are various options to leave the ship and go on excursions. We sleep on the ship this day for our last night and then disembark the ship the following day. Is the ship cleared by customs on its first day in port or the 2nd day when the passengers disembark. I’m asking because I want to book flights to return home and an indication of when customs clearance happens would be helpful.

We’re first time cruisers, and we’re trying to plan our flight home. We arrive in Mumbai on day 12 of our cruise on Celebrity Millennium for an overnight stay on the ship and disembark the ship on day 13. There is a flight back to the UK at 13:15. Will we have disembarked the ship and cleared customs in time to catch the 13:15 flight? I believe the transport time from port to the airport is 1 hour 15 minute’s. Options and views welcomed. Sorry in advance as I’m sure this will have been asked before although I can’t find a definitive answer on the boards. Me and my better half are taking our first ever cruise on the Millennium on the Spice Route next year. Please can someone clear up for me if the $21 per person per day gratuity is included in the cost of the fare as part of the “always included” or will we have a bill to settle when we leave the ship.
