  1. Ridiculous in what way? Saver fares are: (Cunard full fare is even more)

    Inside £2,799 = £140 pp per night

    Balcony £3,499 = £175 pp per night.

You are looking at the wrong T Agent. The 20 day crossing is still available for £1099 inside cabin on certain sites

  2. Its going to be an amazing week-end. Even though we only live 30 miles away, we have booked hotel rooms so we don't miss out on anything :)

I was on QM2 when she made her first visit in October 2009 and it is an amazing feeling when she is sailing up the Mersey. When she turns around near the Pier Head, you feel as though she takes up the whole river and you could jump off the front of her onto the shores of Liverpool or jump off the back onto the Wirral

Looking forward to being on board QM2 when she arrives in Liverpool on 4th July for the 175th anniversary. That is going to be a special day too

  3. Somewhere in the VP there is an 'Important Notice' which essentially says there will be no pre voyage shore excursions available to book for NY. These can be booked onboard depending on demand. It also says that there is a shuttle available (free if you paid the Cunard Fare), if the ship docks in Brooklyn. No shuttle if the ship docks in Manhattan as it's not needed.

I don't think this is correct. I have been on a B2B (and will be again in July) and there was definitely no free shuttle service from Brooklyn. I've looked at the port guide in my VP and it does appear a little confusing. In one box it says there will be a shuttle bus if we dock in Brooklyn, but in the next box, it says there is no shuttle service and I believe the latter box is correct.

There are plenty of taxis waiting when you get off the ship and last time we were given the tip of making sure that the concierge at Macy's orders your taxi back for you, as he knows where the QM2 docks and he will be able to explain it to the taxi driver. Worked perfectly for us last time.

  4.

Are there shuttles that run into Hamburg. Only two tours on offer as far as I can see. Not sure my mum up to either. One a concentration camp which I think would severely dampen the mood and another which involves walking. My mum ok with walking but not great distances so wouldn't want to slow others down. Therefore thinking of just having a wander around.

We have done the Hamburg trip 4 times now and have never done an organised trip. We prefer to go into the town and mooch around. There are shuttles which run from the port to the centre of the city. If you are on Cunard fare , then these are free. If you have paid the getaway or saver fare, then there is a charge and it is added to your account. I think it was about $8 pp for the round trip. They scan your card as you get on the bus. There is usually quite a queue to get on the buses going into Hamburg, but less so on the way back.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I too like trying speciality restaurants as can be seen in my other reviews. In this regard Cunard really only has one truly suitable venue. It was Todd English on QM2 and The Verandah on Queen Elizabeth. We dined there on the last night and weren't disappointed. Full review and photos to come.

    Kind regards

    Sent from the train...

Looking forward to your review of Verandah as we are dining there next Sunday to celebrate my DH 64th birthday

  6. We booked on Tuesday evening - Club Balcony Saver fare on the QE leaving Athens on the 17th; received notification of our cabin at around 2pm the next day ......and we had been upgraded to a Princess Grill suite :)

    Lucky you!!

We are on the 7th November cruise from Athens and booked it in May and still haven't had our allocation. :(

  7. Hi fantasy51,

It has amazed me that, almost every time I've been on board QM2, I run into people who didn't know about/hadn't found the two outside "scenic" lifts that run from Deck 7 to Deck 11. I find them very useful. The two glass lifts in the Grand Lobby are obvious of course, the outside pair less so, it would seem. Of course, on several decks the doors to the outside lifts are rather tucked away, and you'd have to know where they are. But the lifts themselves are easy to see whilst walking the promenade.

    All good wishes,

Whenever we have sailed and have had cabins on deck 11, we have always treated them as our own private lifts from the Commodore Club back to our cabin ;)

  8. Thanks for all your replies.

Our cousins have decided that it was too tight to risk and so are overnighting in Rome. To be honest, they didn't take too much persuading. Who could turn down an extra days holiday...and in Rome to boot :)

  9. We are travelling with our American cousins on the QE in November. They have an option of a direct flight back to Dallas from Rome at 11.30am on the final day. Do you think that is cutting it too fine? They should be able to get off at 7.30am and if we book them a taxi will be at the airport by 9am, so that gives them time for check in.

    Anyone done this before?

    Thanks

  10. There will be porters somewhere. Definitely do not use your wrong cabin number luggage tags. You want the bags to go to the right place.

Have a great cruise! And enjoy your upgrade.

Thank you. I have spoken to customer service, who have assured us that the porters will have new tags waiting for us. Time now to relax and enjoy the cruise.

  11. I've thought of another question pertaining to the Royal Ascot ball, it says on the FAQ a top-hat and morning coat + waistcoat for gentlemen, is the norm, and do most men wear all the above?

We were on the QV a couple of years ago and the young gentleman that my daughter met whilst on the trip was the son of a lord. On the night of the Ascot Ball he joined us at the Captains Cocktail party. He was dressed in full top hat and tails and looked totally OTT. Mind you, it did mean that we had our photograph taken many times that evening :)

  12. I enjoyed Qsine on Infinity. try to get a table that is at the back of the restruant from the entrance by the elevators as the tables are near a floor to ceiling window similar to the one in the Trellis. This window does not get covered up by a decorative curtain on a formal night like the one in the trellis does. I had Excellent views of the beagle channel when i ate there when i passed through beagle channel.

    Thanks for the tip :)

  13. I guess we shall just have to try it for ourselves :)

It does sound appealing but maybe more suitable for DH and I together with our daughter and her boyfriend, whilst leaving our teenage son and his friend to go to the buffet or Bistro. If we can get it on a discount night, that would be even better!!

Thanks for the tip about Bistro BTW. I think that maybe a favourite haunt for the kids and we will definitely try it on embarkation day.

  14. This will be our first Celebrity cruise. Our cruise line of choice is Cunard and we have found that the MDR has been perfect each evening as the food is of good quality. however on our last Cunard cruise we did Verandah one evening and were blown away by the quality of both the food and the service.

We are on Infinity in July with our adult children and thought that Qisine maybe worth looking at, as we are on board for 11 nights and so will have plenty of opportunity.

Please, what are your thoughts and recommendations?

  15. I think it depends on whether or not your cruise includes flights. We booked a UK to UK cruise a few months ago and did not know who was going to travel with my son. Celebrity told us we could add the name up,to a week before we travelled as it was just admin.
