  1. I'm sailing on Odyssey on March 30, 2024.  I booked day passes at the Rui Hotel in Aruba & the Curacao Dreams Resort in Curacao.  The prices are kind of high, but all inclusive.  I've been to the Aruba resort a year ago & it was great!

  2. When I was on a cruise a while back after the midnight buffet & chocolate buffet were cancelled, I asked why they didn't have them anymore.  The person that I asked said that there wasn't as much demand for them anymore because there was so much more to do, especially on the bigger ships.

  3. I had the same experience for my upcoming Aug. 6 cruise.  I needed 5 spots, but there were only 2 left.  I emailed the shore excursion department (Shorex@RCCL.com) & got a very quick response.  The person who responded was Lisseth  Steiger.  She said that she would check with the tour operator to see if they could add 3 more spots.  Before she heard back, though, I decided to book something else instead, and  I just cancelled my RCCL booking today.

We are on Adventure August 14th. Totally checked in on my laptop and now see it in the app.  Cannot do the health thing yet, but everything else is done

I'm booked on Allure on August 15th.  I'm still not able to check in.

Just thought I'd share my experience so others keep an eye out too.  Yesterday I noticed that I had a price drop on one of our cruises.  When doing the mock booking, I did notice that it was odd as we had 2 rooms and although the total cost or each room was the same, the "view pricing by guest" had different items and costs between the two rooms (and room 2 numbers didn't add up correctly).  No problem...I thought....as the total of each room made sense.

I called in for the price drop and explicitly mentioned a couple times that our booking was refundable and I wanted to keep it that way.  The agent acknowledged, but when she sent me the invoice, I noticed that the cruise fare items were marked as NRD (non-refundable).  The agent selected refundable but there was some glitch that changed it to non-refundable.  (I do believe her on this as I saw the odd thing mentioned above on the mock booking).

So what should have been a 5 minute call turned into a 1hr call.  She escalated and they were going to cancel the booking and rebook (which I didn't want as taxes and fees had gone up from my booking), but then they came back and said that they are modifying it to be the refundable rate, but the invoice still looks like it is non-refundable with a comment about a penalty of cancelling.  They said all they can do is mark on the booking itself with a supervisor's note of the override that it is in fact refundable.  This cruise is 50/50 for us that we will be on it (and that's even if cruises are sailing).  I just hope there are no issues if in fact we do end up cancelling this cruise, or if there is a subsequent price drop and the system still thinks our booking is non-refundable.

Just mentioning to those that book to double check your invoice after any changes.  The agent said this happens sometimes.  Another great Royal IT scenario.  Not sure if anyone else has experienced a similar issue.

Must have been a Dominion computer that they used!

  6. Seeing these pictures makes me feel bad.  I had 1854 booked on Freedom sailing out of Puerto Rico for this March.  The cruise was, of course, cancelled.  I couldn't rebook it for next March because Freedom is being replaced by Explorer.  I couldn't book it on Explorer because there are only 2 rooms like that & they were both booked.  I ended up booking Freedom for March 2022 in the same cabin, but I couldn't do a lift & shift because the itinerary is different.  So I ended up paying over $1500 more for a cruise out of Galveston.  I got the cabin, but with a lesser itinerary &  higher price!

Don't you just love the "cruise merry-go-round"?????

Our next "hope-to-cruise" will be on Allure 8/15 & 22...............I know - good luck with that!!!! Our B3B on Brilliance out of Boston in September looks to be a washout - RCCL hasn't cancelled them YET, so it is a "wait and see". We did a L&S on our Serenade Alaska B2B for this June to 2022 - almost the exact same dates and have our same cabin (maybe some good news)!!!!!!

I'm booked on Allure on 8/15 as well, but I'm not holding my breath.  I've have 2 cruises cancelled so far & I'm "sure" my March 2022 will be a go unless RCCL is out of business by then.

  8. I have a question not related to your original post.  I booked a cruise for August 15, 2021, on Allure.  When I called a Cocoa Beach hotel to book a room for a night before the cruise, the person that I spoke to told me not to bother because the cruise will be cancelled.  She said they got some kind of pre-information from RCCL because they are in the hospitality industry and that the information would be released to the general public soon.  Have you heard anything to that effect?

Are you meaning the suite or the regular Panoramic OV.  I had my great TA check on the price for the suite but it was a little rich for me. I've got to save my shekels for March 2023 30th anniversary.

I had the VP suite booked for March on Freedom for a southern Caribbean cruise, but it was just cancelled.  When I booked it, it was still considered an outside room but with suite perks, so it was a GREAT price.  When I tried to lift & shift the other day, I couldn't do that because Freedom is being replaced in San Juan with Explorer and will have a little different itinerary & the only 2 VP suites are already booked.  I ended up booking a VP on Liberty in March 2022 for $1500 more than I originally paid!

We're in the same boat 🙂 except ours is in March.  I love cruising out of SJU, but, I have little faith this one will happen.  I have not even bought air yet and normally I would have done it long ago.

I'm booked on Freedom out of SJU on March 28th.  I was really looking forward to that.  I'm booked in a panoramic ocean view suite, 400 sq feet facing the front of the ship, and I was looking forward to spending a couple of extra days in San Juan.  But I'm sure that ship isn't going to sail.  I just booked an Allure cruise for August 2 days ago, and the RCCL rep assured me that the March cruise should be fine.  She didn't say anything about RCCL cancelling the January & Feburary cruises!
