@Haljo1935 and @JazzyV After I had my hip repair the dentist told me they didn't do the antibiotic thing any more.   Then, after I had my knees done I was told I had to take an antibiotic before dental work for two years or the rest of my life.  Quite a choice there!

Yes, that is quite a choice, geez.🤷‍♀️

With the potential consequences, I'd choose life, how are we to know which is really the right answer?

    I wasn't told I had a choice so I do follow the pre-med routine.

    Hoping BFF gets clear guidance.

I forgot about this; I have my own day:

    May 23, 2024

May 23 is National Lucky Penny Day. Because metals like copper have intrinsic value, finding a penny has long been considered lucky. Nowadays, even though a penny doesn’t have a lot of buying power — to the extent countries including Canada and Australia have ceased minting them — it’s still fun to talk about and think about lucky pennies. It’s so much fun, in fact, that there are a lot of songs that mention pennies, lucky pennies … even a bad penny now and then.

Given that it’s Lucky Penny Day, it’s only fitting we ask a penny for your thoughts, and you can share your two cents’ worth.

Congrats on being special enough to have your own day! I'll gladly celebrate 🍾

  3. Once again an interesting collection of days. DH likes it when I go to the east coast as he knows I'll return w/saltwater taffy for him. I support turtles 🐢 picked this up on a cruise - proceeds ($4) went to the turtle fund (actual name was long - I just know it works on nesting  safety, release and rehab of turtles).

I would enjoy @dfish recipe #3 since it's w/o mushrooms, pass on the drink, yes to the wine, was in Quebec Oct 2022, but no pictures (they're on my computer and I'm on my phone).

Hope everyone stays safe from/all the bad weather.

This morning is PT eval and this afternoon is OT eval. The surgeon will not sign the papers until there is a date for the procedure and we're not there yet - still working on the frozen shoulder although he is very pleased w/the progress. He read the MRI report to confirm a couple tears in left knee & scheduled an appt in 2 weeks to discuss a treatment plan. So I'm sure PT is in my future for that.🤷‍♀️

Was 73° headed to 84° when I checked a few hours ago. Forecast says rain will roll in around 5; we have a flood watch again.

Prayers 🙏 and positive thoughts for all.

Nope, not the case.  The representative said, he is showing that we are eating in the Main Dining Room.We can order anything off the Pinnacle Grill menu.  This is not good!  And not what I imagined my anniversary dinner to look like.  Husband keeps telling me it's not the worst thing to happen.  But there are only a few days in the year that I'm a hopeless romantic.   And eating dinner in the main dinning does not qualify for romantic.

I'm hoping that maybe one you're onboard you can make a stop by the dining kiosk to confirm your reservations ARE actually IN the PG. You should find the kiosk near the spa has a shorter line so you can get it sorted quickly.

...DH's surgery went well; after a rather sleepless night (always wondering if the alarm would really go off!) we arrived at 6:30 to admitting and he was taken to the OR at 9.  He was back in the room by 11:30 and spent the rest of the day attended to by the most amazing nurses.  The doctor came by around 6:45 and said the surgery went "wonderfully" and after checking his echo-cardiogram (which he said looked really nice), said DH could go home...

This morning we have to back to the hospital for a follow-up blood test and ECG, and hopefully that will be it.  Something I didn't know, is that DH can't have any dental work done for the next 6 months, and when he does, he has to take antibiotics for 7 days - even for a cleaning!  Interesting...

So happy to hear DH surgery went well. What a long day you had - I'm surprised by what I think of as major surgeries ending w/patient discharged same day🤷‍♀️ But so relieved to hear all is well.

I am now pre-med for all dental procedures, including cleanings, after getting hardware for a broken ankle, but luckily only 4 pills 1 hour prior.

    Prayers 🙏 for continued recovery.

Agree, there is no pull down tab to select delivery to dining room or cabin at all when making a Pinnacle Grill reservation.

I wonder if it's just a system note, kind of like with the Beverage Package purchase. The location for the Beverage Package is "Delivered to Stateroom" but obviously the beverages aren't delivered to the stateroom.

I didn't even think of that - fingers crossed 🤞 I think that's what it is.

Interesting: I checked my Pinnacle Grill dinner reservations for my July 2024 Alaska Inside Passage cruise on the Zaandam and it also says "Location: Delivered to Dining Room."

Does anyone have a Pinnacle Grill reservation that says "Location: Pinnacle Grill"?

This is concerning - we book PG dinners (and lunch) to eat IN the PG. Curious to know if this is also happening w/lunch reservations 🤷‍♀️

Perhaps it's another recent change intended to increase revenue and was not "announced." This would possibly allow incremental PG sales by allowing dining companions to order separately; currently everyone who goes together in the PG is charged. Hmmm?

The really bad storm with high winds went south of us, but that didn’t mean we didn't get rain.  We also got another hail storm a while ago.  The hail was smaller than yesterday, but a lot more of it.  The hail and pounding rain were extremely loud on the metal roof.  It is thundering again, so I guess we'll get more rain.  According to the forecast, the rain will taper off after midnight, and then pick up about noon tomorrow until about 8pm.

We had a couple short-lived rain storms but thankfully no hail. It does sound worse under a metal roof - really freaks my dogs out.

I hope you don't get much more bad weather - stay safe.

Does anyone know if the split pea soup is served everyday?  I've  seen other groups say in Alaska they run out on sea days.  Anyone experience this.  Hopefully, they just run out of sea days and not all the time.  Thanks, we are so excited for our first Alaska cruise.

It is served every day in GDC.

This was my lunch one random day on K'dam

This is from the Crow's Nest in Glacier Bay - no shortage that day (the people next to me each had 3 cups).

Actually, at 84 I am hopelessly outdated also, but it doesn't bother me.  I have a small Panasonic CD player on my desk and a large number of cds that I converted from LPs a few years ago and they are all I need when I need to have some background music.

Today was a good day.  A little over a week ago I decided to get an eye exam and new glasses as it has been about three years.  Went to the Costco eye clinic and made an appointment for 11 June to have the eyes examined.  The next day I received an email from VA stating that they would cover both the exam and glasses for disabled vets.  Finally contacted them and got an appointment for sometime in September at a local eye clinic.  Went to see them this morning and got it changed to 10 June.  Then went to Costco to cancel the existing one.  Talked to the lady there and she said that the clinic I am using is a very good one.  Of course I can't leave Costco without buying something, and tried a sample of their spiral ham.  It was $15. off the marked price.  So I bought a $21. one and paid $6. for it.  Talked to the checkout person and she said some people were buying 5 or 6 of them.  Got home, thought about it, and went back and bought three more for about $12, or $4. each.  As I said, it was a good day.

    Ray

Congrats on the ham score and eye exam 👏

Even if the freezer is bulging, I find a way to fit really good meat deals - which that ham was. I hope it's tasty!!

Has anyone been able to transfer a booking made onboard to a travel agent AFTER the 60 days is up? My PCC is ignoring the transfer request and I'm wondering if this is why. In fact, they are ignoring me altogether which is one reason I want to go elsewhere.  Thanks.

I have found them to be pretty firm on the time requirement.

However, if you forward your emails to guest relations showing you had submitted the request on time, you may get them to do it.

Typically, transfer requests are not handled by PCC, so maybe that's why they haven't prioritized it. Absolutely no excuse for lack of action, but may be a contributing factor.

Also, be sure your original request was outside of final payment as they hold pretty firm on that too.
