Well I came home from the hospital tired and feeling awful, and DH called me back and said he was ready to come home. I told him that I wasn't ready for him to come home, that I can't take care of him 24/7, and he changed the wording to won't care for him. He said he was coming home tomorrow, so I moved all the furniture in the den and living room, which gives him an option of walking up two small steps instead of a very high one step to get in the house, and in the den I moved the love seat and the chair. The chair is comfy but a bit higher than the love seat or sofa, which means he can get in and out of it better. and still watch TV. It is the 43 steps down to the bathroom, that may be a challenge. I called him back and told him it was done, He said he asked the nurse if she thought it would be OK if he stayed one more night (they must think he's nuts) and she said yes. He still has no expected departure date on his board. He still has not done one session of physical therapy. I told the doc early on this journey, that DH will tell anyone he is fine, to get out of the hospital come home, sit on his butt, and smoke. And I was right. So after a brief argumentative discussion, I told him, we would do what the doctor said. For the sake of his own health. I will now wallow in my somewhat depressed and over worked body by having ice cream for dinner.

I had a busy morning, paid some bills, and the kittens wanted to help, took a shower, then walk the dog, she was miffed because I was late, mailed the mail, went to the bank, went to a store that didnt have what I needed, so headed up to another store, and figured since it was near my favorite bbq place I would stop for lunch before going to the hospital. The whole wait staff came over and asked where hubby was, how he was doing, when is he coming home. They truly care about us. Feels like Cheers, where everyone knows our names. Got to the store, bought DH his requested chocolate, and ice cream. And then on to the hospital. DH is still a bit confused, starts looking at what is on his tray and when I ask what he is looking for, he says something to the effect of "nothing". He kept calling his nurse to help him get up and walk, and she finally came down after I asked for a water refill for him, and when I asked about the walk, she said, we dont do that. He met with his terri today and she can take him for a walk. I asked her, what is a terri, she said "you know, terapy. " So apparently he can only go for walks with his physical therapist. What she didnt know is that for 45 minutes of his hour of therapy, he was in the bathroom, and the other 15 minutes was the getting him to the bathroom. Not to give TMI, but the poor man cant poop. And he wont tell his nurse. Well I wont have a problem telling her, but to actual locate her again, was not in the cards. The nurses station looks more like Lenda's cartoon drawing of the Caution, Men leaning on Shovels. Far too many nurses chatting than checking on patients And when I showed up looking for water and ice for him, I got a "What do you want" not a How can I help you. So hopefully he will get a new nurse tomorrow. BUT right now, she is actually applying true nursing skills. I had left DH's phone charging. It was on the bed, I called him when I got home, because I left with an upset stomach (Meat too rare at bbq place, had sirloin burger) and he reached over to get his phone, and tore the needles out of his arm. He called back and the nurse was fussing over him, and he said he would call back when she was done, but have not heard back.

Donna told me about a program that asks for you to collect non magnetic pull tabs from coke product, pepsi, etc. She also found out that cat food can pull tabs can be used. So she started a collection in an instant coffee jar while she was caring for the fur babies when we were gone. She said that you turn them in to I guess the fire department and they send them off to be melted down into needles for St, Judes. At least that is what her friend Judy in Louisiana told her. So she has me collecting cat food can tabs for her, so that she can mail them to Judy. Have you heard about this program? I called DH this morning, he was trying to escape from bed without assistance again, and the alarms were blasting away. I will call back and see if he has solved his situation. And then go to the post office, the bank, and grab some food, and head to the hospital. I did cook last night, since no one except me eats the curry anymore, I made shrimp curry with avocado. It was yummy!

Good Thursday Morning Dailyites. It's cloudy and drizzly, and while last night when I checked NOAA it stated we would have flooding starting at noon, our local weather people say that there is only a 20% chance of rain. I know the political ads are over, and the phone calls are done, but I am still getting over 20 calls a day to sell me Medicare Supplemental or change my medicare plan. And now they are coming in starting at 7 am. This is too much! I need a phone service on the phone that blasts a bull horn into their ears. But now, the minute I hear the robo call click, I hang up. I know I do this for a job, but I am not a robocaller, I dont click, I introduce myself, and who I am representing. The minute I ask these dweebs who they are calling for? They hang up. Or I answer in French, and they hang up. Sorry, venting, but I cant be the only one. @StLouisCruisersI am sorry you got stabbed and jabbed in the middle of the night. I'm sorry the machine doesnt work properly, can you hit the "nurse" button and have someone come help you re situate your machine and you to make you more comfortable? And you may want to ask your nurse today why they came and took blood last night. @RMLincolnI'm sorry to read that your DH has been unwell. I used to call for the NJ Symphony, and they are one of the best symphonies for getting seniors to the show. And when folks live in a center with bus? They are great! You don't have the stress of driving and get to enjoy the view from the window. @smitty34877I could never be mad at anyone here, especially you. I appreciate all the advice, because I am in a place right now that I have never been. Momma Norma is actually in charge of the money, and she did call and offer to pay for some help to come in. But DBIL is the one who has to do her banking for her, and he has gotten very curious about what the money he has been sending has been going to. And because DH doesnt keep track of where his money goes, the last large payment that came from Momma I have no idea where it went, or how it was applied. DBIL did send some money this week, but it was made out to me, not DH, and right now, I know I have to pay some of DH's bills. And the check that was mailed on Saturday, has not been seen yet. @ger_77Safe travels today. I hope it is a joyful trip. @grapau27Looks like you are off on another adventure, I hope you are enjoying yourself. @Cruzin TerriI am glad that you made it to Miami, and the hotel, Enjoy a couple of days before you embark. And I hope that you both enjoy the cruise. @cat shepardI love your daily memes/cartoons, they always make me laugh. Todays chore is to clean the house, pay bills, and get to the hospital. I have not heard from DH yet, so hopefully he is happy with the tv, and the breakfast, and I will call before I leave to see if he wants me to bring food to him. Hugs to all!

@ottahand7 They have had DH on a Heparin drip since the surgery started. He did call later this evening and was much more "here". But again he said the food was horrible tonight. He is on a cardio diet, and perhaps having no salt added at all is what is making him think the food is awful, he was aware enough to admit he was bored. He wants to go outside. I told him maybe they will get him up and walking tomorrow, I have no idea how they think a person who's PT consists of moving from bed to chair (right next to it) is going to be able to get from chair to bed when it's 50 feet away. -

DBIL called DH and then texted me that he thought DH was REALLY confused, so I headed back to the hospital. Brought him some left over Halloween Candy, which he shared with his nurse. Lucky for them I dont like Twix. Was he confused? Yes he was, I asked him what he was up to when I got there, and he said researching Beluga whales dental problems. Ummmmm. He had no tv and his phone was off, so I dont know what kind of research he was doing. They had him up in his chair, got his face washed, teeth brushed, and a new piece of tape for the fistula (open hole) on his face. Easier to understand him when he spoke,, but the nurse didnt understand how he was researching whales, when she asked what he wanted to do next he said have a smoke, turned out that the hospital staff had not put a patch on him last night when he was transferred. So she took care of that, chair or bed? He said chair, and then within 5 minutes, he said bed, so we called her back in. Me moving the table, and her moving the IV, and Chuck creeping around with a walker. She found a remote that worked, and instead of leaving him listening or watching politics, we ended up leaving him with a show about reticulated pythons in Bangkok. He found it interesting enough to doze off to. So I wanted to get home before the next batch of rain, got gas for the car, was looking forward to watching Britbox, but it needs to be renewed, so I am out of luck watching. F1 still works, but i am caught up, so I have it on Peacock, and am debating whether I really need to see the latest installment of Jurassic World. Going to try for the Potato Peel Society instead on Netflix. I hope that still works. Oh and I got a notice that my cell phone needs to be renewed, another thing that DH handles. Guess I have to figure that one out tonight. Wish me luck, I am not savvy on the "puter".- 75 replies

I did not last long at the hospital. They had fed him, but he didn't like it. Cheese grits with scrambled eggs and sausage. What is there not to like? It was not a croissant. Again he is in a room with no working tv "clicker". I took a book in to read with me, told him about it, and he said he wanted to read it, he also wanted to go home today, he was in the wrong room, he pulled off everything except the needles because the cleaning girl told him that is where they put in the drugs. His bed is set up to deny him escape. If he swings his feet over the edge, and tries to stand up he sets off an alarm. When the nurse re set the alarm, he watched and figured out how to do it. He wanted chocolate, so I went and got him a chocolate bar, and while I was gone he tore off all the EKG apparatus. A technical nurse sits in the hall, so I went and told her what he was up to. She also said, "you are leaving aren't you?" I said yes, I seem to aggravate him. Yes they had put on a nicotine patch, yes they had fed him, yes he has the same nurse that he had in ICU. But I checked the lower incision, the top of it is red, hot to the touch, and hard, and I told her that too, she was off to get his nurse. I left him a book, I fed his phone so that he can use it today, on his board, he no longer has an Expected Leave Date. He gets his meds every 6 hours, with an additional pain shot between the 6 hours. I am expecting that by the end of the day, he will have ripped off his bandages. He was trying to get out of his blue gown, and asked me where his clothes are. They need to put a camera on him. I just talked to my DBIL who will call him and tell him to do what the nurses and docs say. CC has a message that posting will be slow. Is this because we talked about Sloe Gin Fizz? My boss called and told me that our campaign was cancelled for today too. That we are not allowed to discuss the election results, and we all get a personal discussion on how to handle it tomorrow before we get on the phones.- 75 replies

OK, now this is getting silly. DH keeps dialing my number thinking he is hitting the nurse's button, but then when I answer he wont speak because he thinks he is just hitting a button. Tonight for my own sanity, I will turn off the cell phone. I feel selfish doing so, and trying to get some sleep, but if he is this mentally rattled by the time I get him home, I will never be able to sleep. The trash guys just picked up the trash, so now I can walk the dog, pick up breakfast, go to the hospital and get this day started. Today is the day I need my Canadian Emotional Support Person.- 75 replies

I finally reached DH. He is hungry and he wants a smoke. Bad nurses, and bad staffing, to have moved him, but not to have gotten him breakfast, or put a new nicorette patch on him. They will learn that he is not a patient, patient. He wants food! And the clocks on the wall in the hospital were not changed to show the correct hour, so he thought it was 7:45. But it took me 5 times to reach him because he cant figure out how to answer his phone. I will head over to chic fil a in a bit and get there earlier than I had planned, but he cant go hungry. This is the same area that he spend a night after his overdose, and they wouldnt feed him then either, so he went two days without food. And apparently the tape is off the hole in is face, and he is very hard to understand. I think there is tape in the car. So I will see if I can patch him up a bit.- 75 replies

Good Wednesday Morning Dailyties! DH called on the cell phone this morning at 6:45. I did not get to the phone in time, so I called back and got no answer. They moved him out of ICU last night after they said they wouldnt, but he called at 10:45 to tell me he had been moved, and to give me his room number, and then proceeded to explain where his room was....but he was talking about another hospital. I told him I would find him, and not to worry, but I am worried now that he called, but when I called back a minute later, he didnt answer. @StLouisCruisersI hope you are feeling better this morning, and I glad to read that you got a much better night's sleep. Got a good laugh on the quote today. My DBIL told me the other day that he smokes weed everyday, has for the last 50 years. And now i think I understand his desire to not leave his state, or home, if he can help it. NOAA says it is going to rain starting today and rain into the weekend. We need the rain. Even with the little drizzle we have received this week, the lantana started blooming again, but my butterflies seem to have gone. I have seen a couple of pretty moths out there, but that is it. To keep the stray cats from fighting, I started feeding Chumley by the front door, but last night when I turned on the outside light, there was Collard sleeping on the front mat, and I realized that I have not seen Chumley for several days, and that there were 3 plates of untouched food out there. Either Collard is waiting for Chumley to show up for a fight, or something is really wrong with Chumley to have missed 3 meals.- 75 replies

@StLouisCruisers can the hospital provide a bed for Dennis, so that he can stay with you? He may not sleep better, but you might. The nurse last night told me I could sleep in the recliner chair. I cant sleep in a recliner chair. I can be drugged and sleep in a chair, but that wouldnt work, plus with all the fur babies, and a recent "robbery" in the hood, I wont leave the house empty at night. Please take care of yourself. You need to be feeling good and pain free.- 75 replies
