  1. I believe one of the pools on the Sunshine is adults only. Since you have a 13 year old that gives you one less pool to enjoy with him/her. The sunshine is the old Destiny refurbished. The Breeze is newer. I have not been on the Sunshine but I’ve sailed the Breeze twice with my 3rd sailing leaving this Sunday. I’d choose the Breeze allll day!

  2. On the Breeze, the Mongolian Wok is upstairs above Lido Marketplace. It is part of Ji Ji’s and is free at lunch. You place your order and they bring it to your table.

    The Breeze doesn’t have JiJi’s.

  3. JiJi menu is available on line. And if you alert the maitre’d , you will have the gracious services of carnival staff at each MDR dinner to confer with, menu in hand. The last thing carnival wants is loudly complaining sick passengers.

Thank you. I’m aware of how everything works in the MDR. We’ve been gluten free for several years. I’m specifically asking about JiJi’s because most Asian food is laden with soy sauce which is not gluten free. I have not been on a ship with JiJi’s yet. We will be on the vista and I have a reservation at JiJi’s. If the offering of gluten free options is quite limited it may not be worth our time or money. That is why I’m asking for other experience’s eating gluten free at JiJi’s as well as the sushi restaurant. I don’t think looking at the menu alone will tell me enough about the ingredients used in sauces, etc.

  4. Sushi is gluten free, by nature of ingredients--neither fish nor rice contain gluten. If you have celiac disease, you should know this. If you have celiac disease, do stay away from any dumpling dishes and do inquire about the sauces, especially thickening agents. Best to ask special needs desk to help you navigate menus on the ship.

If you're trying to eat gluten free for diet purposes, what ever gluten is in any of the dishes you'll eat on board during your cruise is so minimal--exception being the obvious breads, pastas, pizzas and pastries.

BTW gluten is NOT harmful to any non-celiac person and does not in and of itself cause weight gain, cancer, poor energy, etc. regardless of the false information being spread by naturopaths and others.

Actually you are wrong. My kids are on a gluten and dairy free diet to reduce inflammation due to an autoimmune disorder. They have been told to remove those foods, by a registered dietitian, their MD, and also their immunologist. But I’m sure you know MUCH more than those Doctors and practitioners. So therefore, thank you for the unsolicited medical advice.

What I asked is if anyone had any experience eating gluten free at JiJi’s. Since you are such an expert please enlighten me on your personal experience.

  5. if you transfer to travel agent, everything you do will have to be through that travel agent. that includes changes in pricing ( lets hope she is opened on weekends or late evenings should you need to get in that price drop form) eetc.

i NEVER use a travel agent, though i only ever did once.. carnival wont look at your booking at all, and i learned my lesson... a room i wanted came available and i called carnival to change ( it was one of the huge OV rooms with two windows, basically two rooms in one but they cut out for the stairway) needless to say... carnival could do nothing, and travel agent wasnt available till Monday.. i never got the room

had i booked with carnival directly, wouldnt had been an issue

She is a close friend that I can contact anytime. It would just be me doing her a favor. But not sure I feel like giving up control. Thank you.

  6. The Breeze [emoji7]

I love all the bells and whistles! So much to do and many places to eat. Love the cove balconies, great service. Even though it’s a larger ship it never felt too crowded. I also love the decor. I’ve not been on the Vista yet and I don’t love the Farcus designed ships. I don’t like that many of the older ships have an adults only pool. We travel as a family with our kids so to be limited to only using the one pool is not great for us. I feel like the Breeze is very family friendly. If it were just my husband and I traveling alone we would love to enjoy an adults only pool, so I think it’s great that carnival offers both. I feel like the breeze may be the perfect blend between vista and Farcus designs. We’ve had two great cruises on the Breeze and it holds some fun memories for us. We will be in her in May and then the vista in October! Can’t wait to see how they compare!

  7. For us, on the Disney ship, it was about a 5 minute walk to and from the catamaran. Once on the island walking is minimal.

I will also add that we did hit some waves on the catamaran just before we reached the island. There was a little bit of a storm coming through. Nothing much, just some rain and wind. They asked us to remain seated during that time. It only lasted about 3-5 minutes. On the way back to the ship it was smooth the entire time.

  8. Thanks You! The smooth ride is a must. How about walking. Is there a lot of walking to the catamaran? She can walk she just can go fast.
