I asked for that after they said they can't give the credit, and was told the same thing (it has to be before final payment).

Exactly, the cruise is in a few weeks.

You might also try to cancel and rebook if you aren't in penalty phase.

 

That being said, in general, always wait until the last moment to make final payment.

I can try again.  Prices went up enough that I wouldn't rebook it.  I didn't make payments on this cruise, so the first payment was the last.  

When I called to ask if they'd apply the discount I was told they can (or will) only do it if you haven't made your final payment yet.  Since my first payment was also my final payment, no discount!
