  1. I would be very interested in your analysis of the wine offerings. We sail to Antarctica on Venture at the end of November (our first Seabourn cruise). We certainly are not ‘wine snobs’, but he idea of drinking £5 plonk each night does concern me. I guess that’s what the OBC is for.
  2. We are travelling in November to Antarctica. When I log into my cruise on the Seabourn website and click on the ‘Docs’ tab, it says that my documents will be accessible 45 days before the cruise begins. I don’t think I was ever given an option to choose postal delivery. I hope this helps.
  3. I was able to see the BA seating diagram for my flight by attempting to purchase a ticket. About half the seats in Premium Economy were booked, even though the flight is not until late November. I hope two of the already-assigned seats (window and aisle) are for my wife and me!
  4. Thanks for your reply. In your previous trip(s), did you manage to get decent seats despite not being able to pre-book?
  5. We booked, through Seabourn, a 16-hour British Airways flight in Premium Economy from London to Buenos Aries (including a stop in Rio) on our way to a November Antarctic cruise. The BA website will not let me reserve seats (even at an extra charge), saying that they will be assigned at check-in. I contacted my TA, but she says there is nothing she or Seabourn can do. Is there any way I can book seats in advance? Should I call Seabourn?
  6. Please help someone who is planning only my second cruise. I booked an Antarctic cruise with Seabourn for this winter more than a month ago. The cruise included one night in a Buenos Aries hotel (Alvear Icon) before heading to Ushuaia. I wanted to leave a day early and spend an extra night in Buenos Aries. The travel agent then confirmed everything was booked, including our plane journey, but that Seabourn still had to add the extra night's stay at the hotel in Buenos Aries. A month later, the hotel still has not been confirmed by Seabourn. The travel agent said not to worry; that Seabourn was notoriously slow when booking extra evening in hotels. Should I be worried? Will the price go up if the hotel hasn't been booked? On another topic, we are flying from London to Buenos Aries in British Airways Premium Economy, booked by Seabourn. However, I am unable to reserve seats (even at extra cost), either via the BA website (says seats will be allocated at check-in) or through the Seabourn website (says seat selection is not available at this time). Will I ever be able to choose seats (once I have paid the balance of the cost) or will I have to live with whatever British Airways gives me?
  7. I would be interested to hear if anyone who have been on Venture, either last winter in the Antarctic or currently in the Arctic/Iceland, can report on the dress code and how people are dressing for dinner in general.
