Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Oh dear I’m sorry to hear this! I didn’t book anything through RC because I was already late in the game and I think we are both on the same cruise! I ended up booking a tour thru Tripadvisor, went with one that had decent reviews and keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll all work out. We’re also doing Rome and Florence on our own taking trains but will make sure to leave in ample amount of time and not leave it too close to ship’s departure time. So hopefully it works out. Honestly the RC excursions are waaaaay too expensive and I haven’t heard amazing things about them either from other passengers. I did book some “skip the line” tickets for Vatican and Accademia thru tour operators just cuz everything is sold out thru the official websites, but that’s my mistake for not getting ahead of the game. So we’ll try to make the best of it. I’m a nervous traveller like you but just trying to go with the flow at this point.
  2. We have 12 hours at Civitavecchia port in July. Our original plan was to do Rome on our own and pick either Colloseum or Vatican. My husband is interested in doing both and suggested we do a tour. My only area of confusion is how accurate those “skip the line” descriptions are? I read on some platforms that even with skip the line tickets that tour operators promise there is still a line u have to wait in, whereas if you buy a timed ticket directly from the vatican’s site or Colloseum site you won’t have to wait in any lines. How true is this?
  3. I actually ended finding a bunch of tours on viator/trip advisor. I went with one that had a decent amount of good reveiws and hoping for the best at this point.
  4. Unfortunately he was booked for our day
  5. Yes I read stuff about that. Are “mini buses” allowed in? I saw several tours that are smaller and some include a mini bus if it’s more than 8 people but less than 20.
  6. Yes it’s this one thanks for sharing! July 7 is the day we’re in that port.
  7. Sorry i forgot to mention Symphony of the seas July 7th.
  8. I found 2 or 3 tours on different sites that do Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. The more the cheaper it gets. Just trying to get an idea if more people are willing to join before I create a group and give the company a credit card.
  9. I found a tour of the Amalfi coast that we're interested in for July 7. How do I get to find others interested in joining to reduce the price per person? Right now it's just me and my husband and we'd love to have more on board. I did not find any other groups with open spots for this specific tour so I'll have to create a new group. I tried posting on a facebook group for our tour and no one responded.
  10. I need a bit of help with the Amalfi coast tours. We will be in Naples on July 7, 7 am to 7 pm. I had to choose between Amalfi coast or Capri since it was impossible to find a tour that does both. We decided that we'd like to do Amalfi coast (not including Pompeii). I'm looking for tours that are not through RC due to budget and also hearing that some of those RC excursions are not that great. My main concerns though is trusting that private tour companies will get us back on time. I understand that July is peak season and that traffic is already chaotic there. Any recommendations for any reputable tour companies that perhaps will be able to manage their time to get us back? I already contacted Italytours.eu and they don't have availability for that day. Any help is appreciated!
  11. We're there on July 7 from 7 am to 7 pm.
  12. This is my first Mediterrenean cruise and I'm very overwhelmed when it comes to shore excursions. We are cruising on RC Symphony of the seas. We have a port in Naples and I'm in search for a shore excursion recommendation that does both Capri and Amalfi coast (either sorrento or positano). I checked the one on RC titled (Gulf of Naples & Amalfi Coast: Capri & Positano) but looking for smaller group option. We're NOT interested in Pompei. I would appreciate any recommendations as there is a ton of websites and I can't tell which one is better and provide safe arrival time back to the port. Hours are 7 am to 7 pm on July 7.
