Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Just an update, the last representative I spoke to in the “Resolution Department” insisted I needed this 0-18 yo old form completed and notarized by the parents of the 20 year olds because according to RC policy 20 year olds are “minors.” I asked her what to do about the form saying 0-18 years old and she couldn’t say. So she said she was going to get an answer and call me back the next day. I knew I would never get a call back when she said this. All of the customer representatives are talking from a script and they will not put you in contact with someone who can answer your question, probably because it will count against them or something. Disappointing when you pay several thousand dollars for three cabins and I can’t even get this figured out. I went ahead and had the parents do the form and crossed out 0-18 and put “20” as hopefully a safeguard measure.
  2. Wow, how did you accomplish that? I asked to speak with a supervisor, got the "Resolution Department" down the hall, they were supposed to research the issue and call me back. I knew when I hung up the phone I wasn't getting a call back, lol.
  3. The issue is that Royal Carribean's policy says under 21 is considered a minor, and they cannot sail unaccompanied, and that any minor that isn't your child needs that form. Additionally, a call to their customer service and another call to their "Resolution Department" also indicated it would be necessary for a 20 year old. However, I was not confident in their understanding of the policy. Honestly I think they are just as confused as I am now . There is an adult (over 21) booked in each room.
  4. I booked a cruise for my husband and I, my 22 year old son and my 20 year old son, and we allowed them to bring a friend each who happen to both be 20 years old. RCCL considers the 20 year old friends as minors, and it appears I have to get a letter notarized from their parents (the sample form attached) allowing them to travel with us and assigning someone to make medical decisions on their behalf??? This is so bizarre. Am I reading this policy right? I tried calling guest services twice but I just get people who seem just as confused as I am... In the end, they say it is necessary to have. However, the form that they supposedly need clearly states it is for minors 0-17 years old. I feel silly asking their parents for this. Has anyone been through this and how did you handle it? Should I just cross out the "0-17" and put "20?" I really don't want to show up to port and have them turn us away. minor-traveling-without-parent-or-guardian-form.pdf
  5. I’m unsure what to book. It’s 6 of us (2 parents and 4 kids early 20’s). We’re looking at the resort pass for RUI - the place looks a little small though. But we like the idea of being able to choose pool or beach. We will be there in December and the ocean water is a lot cooler than we are used to. Blue Lagoon looks overall nicer and there is the tiniest bit of snorkeling… but then you have to go back via ferry which sounds more of a pain than going back by cab. I’m really stumped. I wish the excursion offerings were better.
