  1. hi

please can you tell me if the balcony or room is noisy or smelly from the vents or engines. Thanks

I have been in this cabin many times (D736-Vista Suite) on many different ships and it is wonderful. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures to share , but I will be spending 29 days in this cabin on the Emerald Princess in April. The only noise is from the thrusters when you leave or come into port. No smells or vent as it is on the outside edge of the ship, port side. Deck above and below are more cabins. The depth of balcony is the largest of any of the decks on the aft. There is one beam that blocks the view from the living room, but once in the cabin, you don't even notice it.. Hope that helps.

  2. So you are the one that booked "my" Window Suite for the transit back to California. (HaHa).

I just wasn't fast enough. Enjoy your trip.

I am a former teacher too....

Yes, guilty as charged. We love the Window Suites. We book them whenever they have them on the ship.. Wish more ships had them..:D

  3. Yes, I embark at Melbourne for Sydney. Have to fly in the day before due to awkward flight scheduling, that's the worst of only 1 airline servicing my home town. Current plans are to stay at the Hotel Grand Chancellor on Lonsdale St (think it's Lonsdale St, not a Melbourneite), as I have stayed at the Adelaide hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be going to the pier by taxi, I have Access Cab vouchers, and direct door-to-door is a lot less hassle for me. Equally, I wasn't missing the chance to test my balance tolerance aboard ship for a reasonable amount of money BEFORE committing to sailing to Tasmania in 2022. I've a bad history of delayed travel sickness, used to be a right little horror as a kid, fortunately I seem to have outgrown it. Do know to get a prescription anti-nausea from the Dr, will use the one I had for chemotherapy as I tolerated that well and it doesn't clash with my current meds.

Should anyone joining in Melbourne be near the hotel, and want to join me going to the ship, let me know and we can arrange to meet up. I'll be asking for a station wagon (think it's an estate car Stateside, but not sure-it's the same shape as a hearse, the only comparison I could think of!) as I'm on a walking frame so luggage shouldn't be a problem, even with 3 adults sharing the ride.

Thanks so much for the info. We are traveling with friends so will work on transfer details for us. Our hope is to stay at a Hilton property in town. We will be arriving 2 days ahead, the 15th.

You will love the window suites. They are our first choice in picking a cabin. Wish more ships offered them.. Lots and lots of room and storage.

30 days on the Golden Princess will be awesome!!:)

  4. Today I made my cruise booking, paid a 20% deposit, and purchased International Travel Insurance. Incidentally, I taught the TA something, she said I didn't need International Travel Insurance and I showed her where Princess recommended it in their own brochure! I'm in F315, the Disabled Accessible Window Suite, and have noted to pack a tape measure to measure just how long, from the wall adjoining F311 to the end wall along the starboard wall is. I have a tape measure with both Imperial (inches) and Metric (centimetres) so will post Inches with CM in brackets.

The TA will help me with my Cruise Personaliser and print the luggage tags for me. She did show me the Carnival ones prepared for another person, didn't handle them but know what they look like now. 12 months to finish paying off the cruise, it's well within my budget.

If anyone wants specific information checked on the Golden Princess, please let me know, and I will add that to the information to photograph/check on board notepad.
