  1. Joining in with jigger_b (Jeanie) to follow in your adventure. We too are cruising on the SOS doing b2b starting April 12 and then again on the 19th. We are a group of 12 on the first cruise, 10 on the second part.. My DH and I will become Diamond with RCL on this cruise. Mainly sailed on the Mariner when it was in Los Angeles.. Miss her..

Looking forward to more of your "Live" blog and learning more about sailing on SOS, our first Radiance class ship..:) Thank you.. Great pictures!

  2. Thank you so much for such an in depth review. Have enjoyed every part of it. Our cruise starts next Friday, August 16th we leave home on Wed. night. We will be staying in London for 2 days post cruise as you did so what you tried to cram in in such a short amount of time was really relevant to us.. Thanks for the ideas.

    Congrats on the baby news!!:)

  3. We have been in a Window Suite several times on the Golden and will be again next week on the Caribbean Princess. I had no idea that the WS 301 was so much smaller than the rest of them. (They do not charge any less for it, do they?) We just love the cabin (have had 311) and book it whenever we can..:D

  4. Hi teachergal...you have probably already booked by now...but we were midship on Baja Deck for Alaska in 2010 and the balconies were completely covered...the Lido deck looks at least partly covered.

As for motion on a cruise ship the lower decks have less motion as does mid ship...forward and aft get the most movement.

Hope this helps and isn't too late. Enjoy your cruise with your son and daughter-in-law.

Thank you for your reply. I did end up booking a cabin on the Caribe deck. I was told that they are half covered and half open. We didn't get lucky enough to get midship, but did get a cabin toward the aft.

    Thanks though..

  5. I have tried to find the answer to my question by using the search without success. I am trying to figure out if all Lido balconies at the front of the ship are covered or uncovered. Specifically L248. Trying to book a cabin for my son and wife and this will be their first cruise ever. I would want it to be covered, but need to look elsewhere if it is not..

Thanks for any information you can give me..

  6. I am trying to compare SS 7080 to this aft facing SB class cabin. I guess I am wondering if the $1500 extra for going to SB is worth it. This is only my second cruise and it is our 30th anniversary. I like th idea of the Concierge, Neptune Lounge and all the other amenities but the price for 7 days is a bit daunting. I guess I just need advice.

    Thanks:confused:

If this is the cabin I think it is, it has a wraparound deck (along the port side) as well as a large deck out the back looking out at the gorgeous wake.. As you can tell I am partial to aft facing cabins. This is a full suite with all the wonderful amenities that go with that like the Neptune lounge with concierge service as well as free laundry and dry cleaning throughout the cruise, champagne upon embarkation just to name a few. We are in this same cabin on the Oosterdam next month on a cruise to Alaska. We have been in this cabin before. It is a bit smaller in square feet than the SA but the aft and larger balcony than the sides makes up for it. Great choice for celebrating an anniversary..:)

  7. Oops! :o

Didn't mention that I booked a Caribe A753 on the CB.

LuvTheGoodLife' date=' guess loungers are out of the question :(

    Wish I had a VS ;) unfortunately can't afford the extra $$$.

(Pics look great, teachergal29! Thanks for sharing)[/quote']

We have that same cabin booked on the opposite side on the Sapphire (C748) and on the Golden (C752) for our Christmas/ New Year's getaway(b2b). I have heard wonderful things about them and I'm really looking forward to it. I saw pictures of the the type of cabin on Webshots. You could probably find some there by doing a search. I've seen 2 regular chairs with small table and the 2 high backed charis that recline, just no loungers. The balcony does look nice especially since it curves slightly to see a bit of the side to.. We're looking forward to it

We've been lucky enough to cruise in VS on the Golden and the Ruby, but you are right--- a lot of $$$$. I enjoyed them and the perks that went with them, but we like to cruise a lot so we are just as happy with balcony cabins as long as I can see the wake..:)

  8. For FeelinNauti, not sure what cabin you booked but only the suites have the teak furniture, including the loungers as pictured in the post above. The category BB cabins of C752 and C753 have only 'regular' balcony furniture that does not include a lounger.

As for sun, depends on the angle of the sun in the sky - can get some sun sitting right at the railing but the depth of the balcony prevents sun on the full balcony for most of the day.

Sorry, I may have assumed that she was talking about the VS in the post above hers. That is correct, only the full suites have the teak furniture.

  9. First time booking Caribe let alone an Aft cabin.

    Kinda excited about it.

    :p

I'm hoping it gets sun part of the day. What's your take on this?

Also' date=' is it too difficult to get a lounger?

Most pictures I have seen are with 4 chairs and a small table.[/quote']

All VS have a regular size table and 4 chairs around it. Then 2 loungers with small, low in between them.

Here are some pictures from the VS 736 we had on the Ruby Princess.

  10. The inside of the cabin would be the same as any other balcony cabin; it's the balcony that makes the difference and it's a really sweet one! The other difference is the location of the cabin makes it really private. You go to the end of the ship and then turn left and it's like there's no one else there. You have your own little

"hallway" that leads to your door. You're on the end so only one neighbour (a suite) next to you.

Here's a picture from our balcony.

Thank you so much.. We are really looking forward to staying in this cabin.:D

  11. We have C753 booked on the Ruby for March 2011. We've had this cabin before on the Crown so know exactly what to expect, which is why we're booking this cabin again!

I think we have the flip version on the port side, C752 on the Golden for 12/22/10 and also the sme cabin on the Sapphire, C748 for 12/18/10. Would happpen to have any pictures from your previous cruises? We've heard that this is a coveted cabin but have never actually seen it.. Thanks so much..
