  1. My wife and I have always gone to Tea Time on Carnival on sea days. (It used to be called Afternoon Tea.) A seagoing tradition! Not as many tea selections offered as there used to be, but it is still very enjoyable. Our recent Valor cruise had Tea Time on two days. Both times cucumber sandwiches and salmon sandwiches were offered along with macaroons, scones, and other pastries. One seating had chocolate cake. Attaching a view.

  2. My wife and I enjoyed reading outside on Deck 3, accessed off the Atrium, and inside on Deck 5 (Promenade Deck). The chairs and sofas between the Java Cafe and the Lindy Hop are very comfortable. The Illiad Library is a possibility, but it is a small space and card and board games may be going on.

  3. Just on the Valor 3/5-3/12. The Social Media package price was $25 for the seven days. You could connect to Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Pintrest, LinkedIn, Twitter and other social media with that. However, after the first day, I found it too limited and switched to the $35 Internet package. That gave me access to Google, Flickr and Yelp and the ability to synch my Fitbit with my iPhone.

  4. The Sun Viking 7-day itinerary from San Juan (above) was advertised as in effect from August 1989 to April 1990. Royal Caribbean also advertised 10-day Sun Viking cruises in 1989 with a Miami-Labadee-San Juan-St. Thomas-Ocho Rios-Grand Cayman-Playa del Carmen-Cozumel itinerary.

In 1994, Sovereign of the Seas itinerary was listed as Miami-St. Thomas-San Juan-Nassau or Coco Cay.

Also, in March 1994, Song of America had 11 night cruises from San Juan to St. Thomas-St. Martin-Martinique-Trinidad-Dominica-St. Kitts.-St. Croix-Coco Cay. A 10 night cruise omitted St. Croix.

  5. Royal Caribbean’s ports-of-call were advertised in 1984 as follows. (Not certain of order.)

    7- Day Western Caribbean: Miami-Grand Cayman-Montego Bay-Cozumel-Playa del Carmen

    7-Day Eastern Caribbean: Miami-Nassau-San Juan-St. Thomas

In 1989, Royal Caribbean’s advertised the following ports of call for the new 7-day Sun Viking cruise.

    San Juan-Barbados-St. Lucia-Guadeloupe-St. Barts-St. Thomas

Hope this helps with your itneraries!

  6. I enjoyed reading Matsonbrat's postings and other's reminiscences of Matson Lines in this thread. I'll mention that I remember very well sailing on Matson Mariposa on a South Pacific cruise in 1961. (I was 10 at the time.) We went on board either Lurline or Matsonia when Mariposa docked in Honolulu. The ship was larger than Mariposa and very elegant, with wooden decks and 1930's appointments.
