Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thanks. I was leaning toward your thinking and you stated everything really clearly. Reading it out like that makes it obvious especially thinking of the teen girls. . I'm actually more heavily leaning toward 2026, which isn't out for a few weeks yet I think? If I'm wrong then I'm just a dumb newbie to this. But yeah you're right about 2025. I can clearly see it's already heavily booked when I'm looking at the sailings. Maybe the connecting rooms are actually gone; honestly, I need to take notes while trying to attempt bookings bc it's confusing. The idea to call Royal is helpful. I dunno. If we're really gonna become semi-frequent cruisers it's probably sensible to get a Travel Agent but I don't know how likely that is.
  2. Just did our first ever cruise over New Years on Harmony. I am looking to book an Eastern Mediterranean cruise in summer 2025 or 2026. Have been looking at options for 2025 (esp on Voyager) but am waiting to see 2026 options first which I understand will be in February. I am considering allowing our teen to invite a friend along. If we did that it would be me, my husband, our younger (8 or 9 years old depending on sailing) and our oldest and her friend (both 16 or 17 depending on sailing). This would make 1 regular room unworkable. If we allowed the older to bring a friend, I think we'd either need a suite or 2 connecting rooms. After experimenting online with 2025 Voyager bookings, it seems pretty clear I can't book connecting rooms online myself at the RC website after multiple attempts, so I'd need to get a travel agent. My question - traveling with 3 minors where 2 of whom are on the verge of adulthood/pretty self sufficient -- what is the cheapest & best way to book a room to accommodate everyone's needs? I do tend to feel the teens would appreciate having their own room to themselves but not sure what comes out cheapest. Also not sure that all suite categories can even hold 5 (??) So leaning toward connecting rooms but curious what others have experienced with pricing & the enjoyment of the teens especially. If we go with connecting rooms that really puts the onus on me to find a travel agent rapidly though.
  3. This exactly! We just finished our very first cruise, ever, on Harmony. We have a 15 year old and a 6 year old. Having better options for the 6 year old after she got out of late night kids club (we usually picked her up around 9:15/9:30pm) and late night food in general for the teen would have been better. The teen has pretty basic taste in stuff, and really liked going to late night Sorrento's, but having a few more options with her late would have been nice. We had early dining, which is SO early on some ships now (5pm) and teen cannot always be relied on to eat enough there not to get hungry later. And going for a late night dessert as a family is fun too. Lack of late night options is actually one of my very few complaints about this first cruise.
  4. I have a kid who will be 15 on the cruise and I don't think she realizes there won't be wifi unless we pay... I can make do without internet but not sure she can. Was thinking of buying for one device and trying the wifi hub technique mentioned here... Kid can use the 1 device when we're not in the room I'd say. One device is $140 and to add the second (same user) takes it up to $230...
  5. I'm on the December 31 sailing of Harmony out of Galveston. I'm getting $19.99/day internet offer. That's not likely to go down I guess? Thinking of booking today...
  6. Yep, I was looking for the code but can't find it on my invoice. Good tip to call.
  7. I think I found the answer myself already, and that answer is yes. So, I may have screwed up a bit, but I think I'm also comfortable with my choice in the end. We're cruising for the first time on the December 31 sailing of Harmony of the Seas from Galveston. I book a guaranteed balcony and did a lot of thinking and felt comfortable about it, but forgot about the possibility of not getting ocean view since they have "interior view" balconies. Mixed feelings but I think I'm OK with it. (No going back anyway LOL.) First time cruiser with my family. From what I looked I should find the room category code, which will give the answer, but I can't seem to find it... Honestly, I think most of the family would be OK with a boardwalk or park overlook, the teen would probably the one who disliked it the most...
