I remember when someone could ask a question and actually get an answer
Perhaps you've stopped actually reading the threads over the last 70k posts. Understandable.
Questions are always answered. But based on experience (which you obviously have), sometimes the motive is just as important as the question.
Questioning the OP's motive is just as important as answering the question. Wouldn't you agree?
It's certainly more fun.

There are only 81M people on this blue marble now? Did I miss the rapture?
Heh, no, just a couple decimal points. 8,100,000,000 x .000001. You did say 99.9999 percent, right?
I think it's getting way too late for this kinda math.

So, 8100 people have it better than you? That's too bad. 😉

This is Cruise Critic. Not the friendliest place on the net. But at least information here usually is pretty reliable. Contrary to what you find on another very popular site whose name should not be mentioned here.
Truth. Reading our cruise page on that site makes my head explode.

I think you made a mistake. It should read, "No one should be racing go karts before drinking".

Talking about status levels has happened on all the cruises I've been on
Wow. I'm just a few points short of you, and I've never.once.ever had a discussion with other passengers on a cruise about status level. Very odd.

i dont believe a server in the us would appreciate a tip in a foreign currency.
I didn't say they'd appreciate it, I said they'd accept it, as opposed to getting nothing. Which was my entire point in my comment that started this.
10 minutes ago, complawyer said:if any one is being "obtuse" it must be you for insisting and belaboring the issue. why are you so insistent on tipping in a foreign currency to an american server.
Good grief. Reading comprehension, please. Maybe it was just an anecdote because you called me an ugly American?
13 minutes ago, complawyer said:if i get home with a lot of foreign currency (usually doesnt happen), i just go to my bank and get it converted.
And couldn't a server in Europe do exactly that with my Ugly American tip in dollars?
14 minutes ago, complawyer said:by the way, this response is in no way intended to insult you or your position
Too late.

I've got no idea why they are being so hostile when I just wanted more data points.
We're not being hostile; we just want more data points.
What it is lately with all the snowflakes? Why are you so rude? Why are you so combative? Why are you so hostile? Why don't you just accept what I say as truth?
Good grief, people. It's the Internet.

i dont believe that any server at any facility, would accept a tip in another currency. even on a $100 meal, if you tip 20% that's $20 in another currency, requiring the server to find a place to exchange it for us dollars.
Let me see if I understand you correctly.
You believe that a server in the US would not accept a 20 Euro note as a tip? What do you think they'd do, throw it in the trash bin?
Are you being serious, or intentionally obtuse?

but i understand that Panama is restricting use of the canal. apparently they dont have enough water flowing through the canal at this time.
Correct facts, wrong conclusion. Panama will always allow whoever pays the most money. In most cases, that's a cruise ship.

I've got a 14 day cruise coming up and have heard that some people have been lucky in having a higher status honored when they are super close
Where did you hear this, exactly?

Call me an ugly American, but if all I have is US Dollars, then you either except them, or get nothing. Tell me who won't take Dollar tips, anywhere. Seriously.

12 hours ago, GLYNAGP said:Yes you could tip in US dollars in Europe but surely it would be more respectful to use the local currency . Would you expect a tip in Euros to be acceptable in your local town ?
Well, at least ONE of you caught that I was only talking about TIPS. Yes, any server in the US would accept Euros as a TIP, as opposed to receiving nothing.
Money is money.

One can dream. We're on a 21-day and will hit Platinum on day 8. Oh well. Maybe I'll get my pin to throw in the drawer with the rest.

With once a day service it’s very hard to catch the cabin steward.
He/she is around. Find them and get your frickin' laundry. I will never be confused with a karen, but if my favorite shirt is gone for 3-days: Houston, we have a problem. 😆

It has been 3 days and I still haven’t received my laundry back yet. Perhaps there’re so many platinum and above on this cruise.
What?! What did your room steward say when you asked about it?

Now I'm not 100% sure, but I thought their contract ended in April and a new show was coming in (Might be SIX?).
We sail in 10-days. What makes you think this? They're just changing casts, as usual.
And thank you for the review. We can't wait.

I thought I responded to this last night, but "poof" it's gone. Go figure.
So, let's try it again.
NCL can't publish something that doesn't exist.

Easy answer, no.
But if you want this thread to go off the rails, ask if you can order a virgin drink on your package and give it to your kid.
Hilarity ensues.
