  2. Will be going on the northern lights trip in Tromso. Hopefully meet up. Will be driving down on Saturday.
  3. Hi Educator69 I downloaded a booklet on Northern Lights Photography...capturetheatlas.com
  4. Pete it is raining here today Monday and snow forecast for for Tuesday
  5. Hi Selbourne and Presto2 seeing the Northern Lights is hit and miss all dependent on the weather and solar activity. This year has so far been good - hence views in the UK, and the eleven cycle of sun activity I believe is due up to end 2025. Will be off on Aurora soon for Christmas to Norway so planning to get to see them. Last saw them in March 2019.
  6. Play there with our senior section really nice course
  7. Hi Pete at the moment I am a member at porthmadog as we have a caravan there. I may look to join Trentham Park when we decide to get rid of the caravan.
  8. Hi Pete yes I always check who makes the tableware. First cruise on Ventura we went in the Epicurean and was disappointed to see it was Villeroy and Boch. Having worked in the industry for 45 years - a company who supplied materials etc, it was interesting and very changeable. Glad to be retired now to enjoy the golf and cruising.
  9. Adult only ship so wondering if Santa will be there 😂
  10. Just looking forward to Christmas Dinner on Aurora as we sail out of Alta on Dec 25th.
  11. Hi Mercury 7289 we had same situation on Arcadia when we went to Canada and USA last September. Same on QM2 in June this year to Italy. Will be interesting to see when we gon Aurora on Dec 16, to Norway.
  12. Hi Pete I noticed how close the airport is to where the ship is docked. Amazing how with all that snow they keep the airport open - unlike in the UK.
  13. Great photos Pete, can't wait for our trip in December. The drive down to Southampton on the previous day is the start of the holiday. Stay in a great b&b, across to the pub for a drink and and meal, then good night sleep. Then a hearty breakfast before they take us to the port, knowing the car is there safe a secure while away.
  14. No problem Educator69 ensure you use a tripod. Depending on type of lens determines the iso, can go as high as 1600 - 3200 but need to reduce shutter time.
  15. Hi Pete good to see you saw them, DSLR camera would be better - f8, 5 - 8 secs iso 100 - 200. I use Pentax with 50 mm manual focus lens. Hoping to see if I can video this time rather than just stills, when we are there from 15th to 29tb Dec cruise.
  16. I agree Sindhu restaurant is brilliant, on Ventura great selection of food and carafe of wine enjoyable with friends we made on there, each of the three cruises to the Caribbean.
  17. Hi Pete and Co glad you getting see the Northern Lights. Save some for us who are going out on Aurora for the Christmas cruise next month.
  18. Got thermals and thermal socks kept warm when out photographing.
  19. Aurora is a lovely ship, we were on it in March 2019 to Norway. Never done a Christmas cruise so first experience there. Booked the Tromso Northern Lights trip so depending on the conditions may look to the Alta trip too. Also there may be opportunities on ship / up on deck at night to see the lights. As this year's solar activity is strong - as parts of UK have experienced the lights I'm hoping the opportunity in Norway will be greater. We travel down the day before and stay in a b&b which we found and leave the car there and they take us to the port and collect on return.
  20. Off on Aurora for Christmas, to Norway so hoping see the Northern lights again (saw them at Alta in March 2019). Solar activity is good this year so fingers crossed. Keep us all posted Pete if you see them.
