  1. Wow, you guys are a judgey piece of work.

I am very intelligent and I really enjoy smoking. The two are not mutually exclusive. I am aware of the health risks, but am not bothered enough to quit right now as I REALLY ENJOY IT.

I also love cruising and smoking at the same time, so HAL it is. I prefer cruising to land vacations. so I will continue smoking, a legal activity, on the line that allows it.

Would you rather I sneak smoke where it is not allowed?

    .

  2. HAL is my last choice cruiseline.

But, now that they are the only line that allows balcony smoking, that's where I go. I enjoy having a smoke on my own private balcony, rather than running all over the ship to find a smoking area.

Seabourn also allows smoking, but the solo cost is prohibitive. So, HAL it is.

I am forced to cruise a line I actively dislike, why is is so hard for you nonsmoking HAL fans to choose from dozens of other lines available to you?

  3. I have 42 on NCL since 2006, all but two in suites. Mixed in along the line were 9 sailings with HAL and Princess.

Unfortunately, over the years, the service and food quality on NCL are slipping. The most recent two on Dawn and Getaway, were "the worst cruises ever". I may book NCL again, but only for an incredible deal or unique itinerary.

Right now my preference is Princess, but will be trying Seabourn soon. For close to the solo suite price of NCL, I can get true all inclusive luxury on S.

I really did love NCL. but.......

  4. i don't stand in lines, I'd rather just wait until the crowd clears or go somewhere else.

    I don't understand the brouhaha.

What is the difference if the extra people in a group wait in the line or join later? There are still the same amount of people ahead of you.

If Passenger Bob holds space and 6 join, there are 7 people in front of you. If all 7 stand in line, there are still 7 people in front of you.

  5. MyTime is a "perks" package offered by Gogo Worldwide Vacations, a subsidiary of Liberty Travel.

Gogo is a vacation wholesaler to the travel agent trade.

These "perks" are offered for reservations on many cruiselines and hotels, not just NCL.

For the most part, you have to buy something toget a discount or 'free" goodies. Really no big deal.

  6. When we sailed in 10000 last year, there was a Lavazza. I took a look at pictures of 12500 and other similar level suites and it looks like there is one in there, too (look to the sides of the pictures) . . .

    Hope this helps!

I was about to jump in and say 12500 is my favorite room on POA, and what do I see? A photo I took of my husband in the cabin on our very first cruise......pretty nervy of Cruisedeckplans to post their copyright notice!

Anyway, amazing room, huge balcony, exceptional location. This was taken in 2005 and the coffee machine was an espresso type thing. I'm sure it's been replaced.

  7. All this talk of "stiffing" the crew brings to my mind a couple of questions....

Is the crew actually not paid or receiving lowered wages if a few pax here and there remove the discretionary service charge?

Is it just that the cruiseline pays the crew and it's own coffers aren't replenished as much as they'd like?

If the crew is actually paid their contracted rate and people don't pay, isn't it the cruiseline getting "stiffed"?

    Hmmmm?

  8. This question could have been answered simply, without the vitriol. I just don't understand why people just don't go to the source.

I just spoke with NCL - the $250.00 cleaning fee, if it is to be charged, is assessed ONCE, at the end of the cruise. That is ONE time for the duration of your occupancy of the cabin, whether your cruise is 3 or 30 days. At no time did she say that smoking wasn't allowed inside, just that there would be a fee to do it.

Isn't that just like NCL, an additional fee for everything, but that's another argument.

So, it might make economic sense to do an inside plus 250.00 instead of a balcony.

Think of it as an option, rather than a fee/penalty.
