Hi PerfectlyPerth. I think we all know the single supplement has existed for ions. I’m used to paying up to double for a cruise ship cabin. And that’s fair. What we find unacceptable is paying way more than 2 people for the same space, and paying more than double for drinks and WiFi. I’m sorry, but this isn’t something that should be accepted as standard business practice.

I just looked at a celebrity transatlantic cruise from Tampa to Barcelona in March and the solo cruiser is being screwed even further. Not only is the cabin way more than double the price, but the drink and WiFi package is 50.00 per person per day for double occupancy. While the solo cruiser is being charged more than 140.00 per day for the same thing. I know most people would just say to not get the drink package which of course I wouldn’t. But this is so extreme, I feel it just has to be illegal or at least unethical! I’ve never been charged extra for drinks or WiFi because I’m traveling by myself. Can you imagine going into a bar or restaurant and paying 2 1/2 times the regular price because you are eating and drinking by yourself? That would never be allowed!

Unbelievable!! I really enjoyed my 2 solo cruises on Celebrity! But they will obviously be my last!!

I’ve been trying to get back on a Celebrity cruise for many months as a solo traveler, but this crazy pricing is insulting and absurd!! I understand paying 200 percent for the cabin itself although in the past I’ve usually paid less. But I refuse to pay more for a cabin than 2 people will. And the worst thing is the all included price for drink package and WiFi. It’s also more than double. I’ve never ever seen a cruise line charge double for a drink package and internet because you are traveling by yourself. Can you imagine walking into a bar and being charged more than double the price for your drink than the people next to you because they are 2 people drinking, but you are by yourself. I’m truly angry at Celebrity!

This is absolutely insane!! I’m facing the exact same issue. I often travel solo so I’m used to paying up to 200 percent of the per person double occupancy rate for the cabin itself. And often less. But never ever more. And what’s worse Celebrity is charging an exorbitant amount for solo travelers to add in the all included rate. I’ve honestly seen no other cruise line do that. Note my attached screenshots. This is for the Celebrity Silhouette Sat Nov 16 Transatlantic Cruise Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale. 13 nights. First screenshot is for an inside cabin with 2 people. 2nd is for a solo traveler. Same cabin category. How much do they think a solo passenger is going to drink. It’s insulting, especially when they say the all included rate saves money. And they’ve been doing this for many months no matter the destination. I kept on thinking it was a mistake and would be corrected, but no!!
