  1. When we disembarked from our Divina cruise on May 24 there were taxis there in addition to the cruise port shuttles. Taxis will take you to the train station for the same 6 Euro fare PP as the shuttle buses. Definitely a more convenient experience. FYI, the same holds true when arriving at the train stations. Taxis drivers there will take you to the cruise port for 6 Euro PP. We did not use that service as we were spending the night in Civitavecchia.
  2. After much research for our May 17 cruise on Divina we stayed at La Casa Sul Mer. We had a wonderful experience and if I were to ever cruise from Civitavecchia again the first thing I would do would be to book an accommodation there. Check out the Tripadvisor reviews for this B&B. I noticed several were written in May. There were three other couples, as equally pleased as we were, in this five room B&B the night we were there, all of whom were also joining cruises. I'd bet at least one or two of those reviews were from them. BTW, this is the only business I've ever seen on Tripadvisor with a 5.0 rating. As far as location, it was a less than 10 minute walk from the train station and about five minutes to the pickup location for the free port shuttle.
  3. We were just on the Divina from May17-24 that included a Santorini port call. We booked a ship excursion that originated and terminated at the new port as I was determined to avoid the cable car/donkey path situation. The excursion visited Akrotiri,Oia,and Fira. Davina was one of five ships in that day. Only other one I remember is Epic but I know the capacity of all five ships was at least 12-13K One thing I learned from going through the new port is that in addition to the cruise ships there is a constant parade of very large ferries bringing in additional people and cargo, all adding to the congestion. My overall assessment based on my experience is I am one and done with Santorini and I would have been quite pleased if that port were dropped in favor of another, or even just a sea day. We enjoyed Akrotiri but the towns are ridiculously overcrowded and congested. In many places it was similar to exiting an NFL stadium at the final gun. And given the sweat inducing temperature we experienced I couldn't possibly imagine how miserable it would be at the peak of Summer.
  4. We were in 16014 in January, 2019 and had no issues whatsoever with noise or disruptions of any kind. Great location very close to the entrance to the courtyard as well as the outdoor dining/bar area of the restaurant. I loved the location and would gladly book the same cabin again.
  5. We will be on the Divina for a Med cruise starting May 17 in YC. I had previously commented on the very small number of excursions available at the various port calls, generally just three to five at each stop. I am considering the Delos excursion in Mykonos and the Best of Santorini excursion in Santorini. I was a little surprised that the Delos tour says, "you will return to the port on your own by shuttle boat". I had assumed we would be returned to the ship as a group. My concern with the Santorini excursion is the eight hour length. For context, we will be in Mykonos from 1PM to 11PM and Santorini from 8AM to 6PM. I greatly appreciate any thoughts you may have if you've taken either of these tours. Previous comments had said it was unlikely that additional excursion options would be available once we've boarded the ship so I'm going on the assumption the limited choices provided beforehand are all that I can choose from. Thanks in advance.

  7. I recently booked a Mediterranean cruise on MSC/YC, (Divina), which will be my first MSC cruise as well as first non-Caribbean cruise. Previous cruises were on RC/Carnival/NCL. Cruise is from May 17-24 and the port calls are Mykonos, Santorini (Greece), Izmir Turkey, and Naples. I checked the MSC site for available excursions and only saw three to five for each port. All of my prior cruises had a fairly large number of excursion options. Can I expect that more options will become available or is this something to expect with either MSC or those ports? Thanks for your help.
