Ship making good progress nearing the Canary  Islands. There is a published ship arrival schedule on the Mumbai port site that lists the Silver Moon docking  on the 14th February. Confident cruise will go ahead albeit with a later start and route amended to arrive at Singapore as per original programme. Question is what will be dropped. Still no word from Silversea.   File809.pdf (mumbaiport.gov.in)

Thankyou for finding this, looking like arriving at 7am and departing at 2pm ...

Now can start planning around this ..... thanks again

Moon at 16kts last I checked so certainly not in a hurry.  Colombo embarkation is now gone so I suspect she may be headed directly to Singapore after Cape Town...

Not sure I agree with these thoughts.

The Moon is currently off Rabat with around 5129nm to go to Cape Town, that still likely gets them to Cape Town on the 2nd Feb.

Then Cape Town to Mumbai is around 4,724nm, which at 17kt is around 11.5 days, likely to get the Moon in Mumbai on 13th/14th.

They could make up 12 hours on the first day at sea (cruise day 3/4)

All is not yet lost in my opinion, just could be a day + late out of Mumbai

    Forever the optimist

Of course the wild card in all of this, is what kind of weather and seas will the Moon encounter. Top speed would be based on perfect sea and weather conditions I’d assume.

Interesting thought ....of course all the ocean currents seem to be flowing against the Moon's travels, but as far as I can work out it is probably only about 0.5KT .... but would still have been better flowing the other way !

They are going to have to compensate people for the lost days anyway, not to mention hotel accommodation/food in Mumbai starting on the 11th.

Wouldn't like to be a SS logistics planner at the moment .... they would be stressed to the max

  5. If they arrive in Cape Town Feb 2nd at 10am, give them a 5 hour turnaround

    Based on

    image.thumb.png.d1af301771f5d4350c0c96fe7fa9a9db.png

That would have arrival in Mumbai around 9pm on the 13th ... a bit more than a day later than original sailing time.... travelling at the 17kts....

Cruise ships with guests are currently prohibited from transiting through the Bab al-Mandab Strait at end of Red Sea.  Now that Silver Moon has offloaded all of her passengers, she can sail back through Suez Canal and the Red Sea and on to Mumbai.

Interesting ..... would like to be a 'fly on the wall' during the discussion with their insurance company on that idea

  7. On the Muse last year, they insisted on a tie to get into Atlantide ....

I hate ties at the best of times, so the next day decided that any ugly tie would do ..... so cut up the cover of evening magazine, used the wrapper from the nightly chocolate, and a disposable napkin and made one ....

Used it for the rest of the cruise with no argument at an venue..... other than my dearest wife who thought it looked ridiculous !

Actually the distance is 889nm and 2 days 4 hours sailing at 17knots so a significant time savings to start from Colombo.  Of course I am just speculating based on this new cruise option.

Yes, if you are including the Mumbai to Columbo leg. ... I was looking at the difference in distance from the bottom of Africa.

The last conversation with SS was that the Moon would be arriving in Mumbai  14 Feb, however could arrive 12, or 13.

Advised to book accommodation from 11Feb to be on the safe side.  Can anyone add additional information to this.

    Charli001

Well they are only due to leave Mumbai on the 12th at 2pm

They also have a few hours spare (maybe 15) on Wed 14th Feb which is a day at sea they could make up by cruising at the 17kts

Agree a booking for the 11th maybe a good contingency

I believe that Silver Moon may head straight to Colombo and the cruise will start there.  Colombo-Singapore starting on the 17th of Feb is now listed for sale-not sure it was before.  Also Colombo would be a much shorter distance for the Moon to sail to.

This gets more interesting .... must only be selling that new option in limited markets and it not coming up on the website in Aust.

So then Silverseas would either have to refund all the passengers joining in Mumbai or teleport some 596 pax from Mumbai to Columbo ?

The difference in distance is probably around 300nm or 18 hours sailing.

  11. Nothing definitive yet  ....Just spoke to Silversea's and based on an internal email they had received last evening, the planners are still working on the issue, with the possibility the cruise could be shortened or changed.

Suggested we contact our agent on Friday for any update.

  12. Thought it would be worth starting a new thread for the next exciting installment for the Silver Moon.

It will be interesting to see any movements in the next 24 hours, could give some direction.

The post by Charli001 suggesting that he was told the Moon could arrive in Mumbai around 14th Feb ....give some hope ....... The 14th could make sense based on calcs from a past post.

While the Mumbai - Singapore has a nominated departure of 11th Feb, it is actually planned to depart Mumbai at 14:00 on the 12th, so arrival on the 14th might only have minimal overall impact with a little bit of trimming along the way.

Spoke with SS this afternoon and told Silvermoon will not be arriving in Mumbai on 11 Feb, possibly 14 Feb but nothing confirmed.  Would like to hear from anyone who has any updates.

January 26.  Were you in this cruise and got the cancellation offer?

No, unfortunate for you guy's but must say I would not have been keen going past Yemen or around the ME at the moment.

We are on the 11th Feb sailing out of Mumbai, all but one cabin class is showing Waitlisted, and the whole of the Feb 29 Sing to HK is Waitlisted .....just getting a little uneasy feeling.

Will be interesting to see what the Moon does in the next couple of days

Would hate to be a SS logistics guy at the moment.

My TA has just informed me that the offer from Silversea for refund and 20% off 2024 cruise if either/or.  The way I read it is that both are applicable.  Has anyone been given other information that you can get both a refund and 20% off.

    Thanks

    For which sailing ?
