  1. And I'm just trying to find out... based on the recent situation described by those who booked genuine "non-Haven" suites (NOT the renamed mini-suites/club suites) on the Joy... whether the "breakfast/lunch in a specialty dining venue" has been removed as non-Haven suite perk fleet wide... or just on the Joy.

Has anyone who sailed in recent weeks on ships other than the Joy in a "real" non-Haven suite (like a 2 bedroom or penthouse suite) let us know what they experienced?

Thank you very much!! I really appreciate the information and I will forward it to the rest of our group. This would certainly makes things much easier for everyone considering we all have different preferences.

Could I ask one more question, where do we sign up to add this feature? Can it be done through the app or somewhere on the ship?

    Thanks again,

    Perry

Really great information... that could be very handy.

It is normal for suite guests to be able to eat breakfast and lunch in one of the Specialty restaurants.   I have done it many times both as a suite guest and a VIP

Exactly... that's why I would want to know if that's disappearing.

If I had booked a non-Haven suite on the Joy and was told I would get those breakfast/lunch perks at the time of booking only to see them disappear later, I'd be annoyed too.

Just wondering what people who have sailed recently have experienced in the 2-bed and penthouse non-Haven suites on various ships that in the past had those breakfast/lunch perks.

It's my understanding those amenities never existed on the other ships, only the Joy.

That has not been my experience in the past...

I've stayed in 2-bedroom non-Haven suites on the Jewel class ships and always had breakfast/lunch in Moderno or Cagneys as one of the perks for the cabin.  If they're going to start removing these privileges (as they seem to have done on the Joy),  I'd like to know before ever booking one of them again.

  5. I too have had multiple successful conversations (via e-mail) this month with the pre-cruise concierge desk.  I requested the letter showing pillow options, teas, waters, etc.  We also requested distilled water for a CPAP device plus a sharps container.  I also asked them to switch some dining times... got prompt responses each time.  They actually reached out to me first last month... asking if there was anything I needed before it was even on my radar.

I've been in the Haven a few times now and have yet to have a bad experience like those described.  Granted, those times were all pre-COVID before NCL started filling the Haven with last minute upgrades.  My cruise is a in a few weeks, so It will be interesting to see how it goes.

For us communication has always been key and I have always left notes in our suite (and not waited til I ran into our butler or steward) to make any changes or reasonable requests as the cruise went on.  They were always taken care of very promptly.

Received a 10% coupon back in my account that I had used, but it was returned, as my Sept. Getaway cruise was recently cancelled.  The coupon expires 12/31/22 and I am looking to book a cruise departing 1/2/23. Has anyone had any luck getting a extension?

They automatically extended the expiration date on my returned cruisenext deposits to 2025.

Having some issues getting through to customer service at NCL, thought I'd ask here....

I made pretty much the same exact request and they extended it for a January 2023 cruise I wanted to to take.  You should have no problem... make sure to mention the specific cruise you want to apply it to.

It was 15 years ago so I don't remember the contact info although it was a local rental agency (pre Air B&B!).  It was directly on the beach known as the Pipeline and the distinctive thing about it was that it was decorated in a Christmas motif year round.  It might have been called the Christmas Cottage but not sure on the name.

    Thanks!

This is what we did and would totally recommend it.  We spent a few days before the cruise on Oahu in a little cottage up on the north shore.  Ideally we would have loved to return to Maui for an extra few days following the cruise but that was before retirement so we hadn't the time.  Rent a convertible and do the Road to Hana:)

Your little cottage sounds great... can you share the details?  Am thinking I would love to do the same thing you outlined.

  9. The few we've been to have been fun.  We had the security officer once... he was a hoot and had lots of discreet but fun stories.

And once (on Royal), we had lunch with not one, but two captains... it was an overlap week where one captain was handing over the ship to the next.  That was an intersting meal as a fun older couple at the table were presented with a crystal ship commemorating that voyage as their 50th or 60th (I think).  It was a crazy number of cruises.

Two of the easiest mistakes to make on your first cruise are these:

    - overplanning.

    - overscheduling.

Don't try to do everything to the point where you're running from one venue to another.

Absolutely... creating my cheat sheet helps make sure we aren't oveplanning and overfilling our days... those random unplanned moments are often the ones that make the trip extra great!  The purpose of the sheet is just to have one convenient place for basic and critical info.  Leaving time for the spontaneous is very important.

  11. I create what we call a "cheat sheet" that has important and relevant info for each day including flight times/flight numbers/reservation numbers/tour times/dining reservations/etc.  Putting all the critical info in one place and handing it out to the other members of my party allows ME to relax on vacations so that whenever the others want to know what's going on, they can refer to the sheet without me having to look things up or maintain all the details in my head.  Having the basic tentpole items in one place (with the understanding that some things can and will change) helps us to make sure that we don't miss the things we critically want to do and also helps us to maximize our flexibility on the days when we have nothing specific planned.

    Happy planning!

We ran into a couple of those “snooty people” on the Bliss last December while on a shore excursion, where there were two couples who repeatedly mentioned loudly how glad they were that they were in the Haven in a way that made it clear that they thought they were above the rest of us.  All of us peasants were rolling our eyes & it definitely was a turn-off.

    How obnoxious... definitely eye-roll worthy.

Also disappointed that you had a similar experience with passengers. I was hoping it was just my cruise. Once while talking to some people at the bar, they asked me if I had kids. I said "no, just my two dogs" and then they were like "Oh well are you gonna have kids" and I replied "probably not" and then they went into this huge spiel about why I needed to have kids and how much I was missing out and blah blah blah. I was like "Well I enjoy a fair amount of freedom and it just isn't for me" and they were like "Well you will change your mind." Doubtful HAHA! I just couldn't believe the audacity, although I do experience this TOO MUCH. They also asked if I was "Only going to sail in the Haven from now on" and I was like "No, I'd have to get a second job haha" and then went on and on about "how poor people and how that if people just set their mind to it, they too could afford to go in the Haven every single time" And after that I didn't attempt any more cordial conversations in the Haven. I am sure there was some nice people but was pretty soured by that.

What a shame you encountered such rude and obnoxious boors.  We've been lucky enough to have never personally encountered that level of appalling behavior whether in or outside of the Haven.  And I agree that there are entirely TOO many people out there willing to give relative strangers advice (whether thoughtless or well-intentioned) regarding their choices about having or not having children.  The nerve of some people is pretty incredible.

Yup - don't want to lose my extra specialty nights and WIFI and airfare and such.

Unless the price difference more than makes up for it.

The new wifi perk was actually better than the my old perk and the loss of a couple of specialty dinners still netted me a major gain in terms of the upgraded cabin.

You have to do the math for yourself and see how it nets out for your specific reservation and wants.  For me, it was well worth it.

If you've pre-purchased add-ons to your cruise, such as the Premium Plus Beverage package, the additional Specialty Dining Night Offer (59.99 for an extra two nights - talked about in another thread), and the Unlimited Internet Package, can you carry these over if you upgrade after your PIF date?

Mine did as they are separate from the cabin reservation.

That said, it couldn't hurt to make sure that they're unaffacted before you commit as inexperienced NCL staff can accidentally mess up things.

Just did a quick online chat and I cannot contact NCL directly since I booked via a TA.

My TA called and did it for me with no cancellation penalties or other nonsense from either them or NCL... upgraded for an small additional cost after final payment as they had dropped the prices.  Just watch our for the perks to change to what they're currently offering as they may differ from what you already have.
