  1. Trust me when I say It was REALLY noisy. Our Cabin Steward knew all about it ! The cabin is in a great position for getting to everything but I would really advise against booking it. As I said earlier I am in the cabin longer than most people because I have to rest and I had to keep consulting the news letter each day to work out when to rest. A lot goes on in that Lounge ! We have stayed in cabins over bars, restaurants etc several times on other ships but we have never heard any noise like this. We couldn't wait to get off ! I know the bands song list off by heart. Does anyone know why some cabins have been finished off nicely and others not. The dividers on the wall in our cabin were very badly cut and unsightly and yet the ones next door were perfect. You are right. You do have to be in the know when it comes to booking cabins. Are we the only ones who only ever get offered two or three to choose from ?

I did ask advice on here about the Deluxe cabins but you really don't realise quite how low down the windows are until you are inside the cabin.

Perhaps its just me but I hated this arrangement. I don't think the people sunbathing realise they are in full view either ! We saw some funny things !

  2. Hi Kruzseeka and Little Nell

I have just dug out the reply they sent when I sent the review in and it does say it can take a couple of days. It also said something about Publishing five reviews per week ? My husband and I had a long chat about reviews this afternoon and decided that there is no point in writing a review if you can't be honest. I think I have already written a cabin review Little Nell. I did it ther same time as I wrote the main review.

I have a slight disability and probably spend more time than most in the cabin. When we booked we asked for a quiet cabin ! Cabin 9016 was directly above the Medussa Lounge and there was no soundproofing in the cabin. I think we were directly above the set of drums ! As I said in my revieww things could have been worse we might have been doing a fourteen night cruise instead of a seven night cruise! We also found out on the last day that the cabin next door had been completely renovated and it was a shock to see the difference. Everything was finished off nicely and there was a lovely new bathroom. Our sink leaked everytime we turned the tap on and we were sick of wet feet !

All in all we had an enjoyable cruise. It certainly wasn't all bad and I still hope people will get to read my review in time. Maybe not on here but somewhere else for sure ! I can say hand on heart that my main reason for writing the review was to stop someone else having their holiday spoilt by the same problems. Maybe we were naive but we really didn't expect the cabin to be so noisy. We hated the huge windows in the Deluxe cabins that look straight out on to the promenade deck. It was so off-putting that they were so low down. We didn't expect to see people sunbathing outside and it was a constant strain trying to keep lights off all the time. You can most definitely see in when the lights are on. We were told by the future cruises rep that we couldn't expect the entertainment to stop just for us but I am sure something can be done to the cabin to make it less noisy. Of course we wouldn't expect the entertainment to stop but not everyone is well enough to be out and about enjoying it every night !

In the bathroom my husbands whole body was shaking with the noise. We like a party like everyone else, but not in our cabin !

  3. Hello holiday ahoy

No it has still not been published and I can't tell you how upset I feel.

I have NEVER had a review refused before.

Our holiday was not great because of specific problems with our particular cabin and comments made by the Future Cruises representative were quite 'Out or order' We were seeking her help to choose a more suitable cabin next time round. I do think someone should at least tell me why they have chosen not to print my review. I don't see the point of this forum if we can only write complimentary things ! Trust me my review wasn't all bad but I did suggest someone from Thomsons spent a night in the cabin we were in to see for themselves what we experienced. The steward knew what we were up against. First thing she asked us in the morning was 'Could you sleep with all that noise'

  4. Very well said Kruzseeka. I think our posts crossed as we were writing them.

When I write reveiws I am totally honest and never mean to offend anyone. On our recent Cruise we had a problem with one person on the ship and this problem needs sorting out, however my complaint wasn't meant to be personal and by bringing what happened to the attention of othere I hope the same thing wont happen to anyone else. We all like different things and all have different expectations but you are right our main aim should always be to help other people on here. Some people seem to come on the Cruise critic forums just to upset people. I have never read the Facebook comments but I understand they get quite nasty at times.

  5. Thanks Kruzseeka and Geomagot.

Perhaps as you say, it is just taking a bit longer than some of the other forums. I think I wrote a very balanced report. We had a lot of issues with our cabin and were quite upset by the attitude of the Future Cruise Representative on board but I think you have to be honest and some things mentioned in my review do need addressing. We had a good cruise, just had the noisiest cabin on the ship ! As long as people realise the Dream is NOT a new ship they needn't worry about future cruises. We found the people on board and the staff very friendly and helpful.

  6. My recent review of our Caribbean Cruise on the Dream has not been published and I feel my time has been wasted ! We did experience problems with our cabin but I do feel people who are cruising with Thomson in the future should be aware that these problems exist. Surely this forum is not just for 'glowing' reviews. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to let me know how long it takes for a review to be published and if it is not published, does anyone tell you the reasons why ? We cruise frequently and this is the first time a review has not been published.

  7. I am not very sure where the Cruise reviews are actually located on here.

I thought they would all be available for reading on here on the Thomson Forum ?

I have sent in a review of our recent Cruise to the Caribbean on the Dream and I understand that it will take a day or two to get approval.

If it is accepted will it show up on here, or be displayed somewhere else ?

Perhaps its just me having a 'blonde' moment but I can't find some of the reviews that people have mentioned recently. I would quite like to read them.

I also failed to put my cabin details on the list that is available. Perhaps age is catching up with me ! Any help much appreciated.

  8. Hello skioncruises !

I hadn't realised my spelling error. Yes I am a regular Lurker !

This is what happens when you go on the computer late at night to read the comments. I needed a break from the packing for our Cruise and Stay.

Think we might be on the same cruise as Cam's Gran so there will be two Lurkers missing for a while !

  9. Just wanted to say thank you for all the information on this site.

I think I too have turned into a lerker ! I read the comments most days as we have a Cruise on the Dream coming up soon, but its ages since I have answered any questions or written any reviews. I do find it a very friendly forum. I tend to 'dip' in an out of several of the CC forums as we are interested in trying Cruises with different companies. This time last year I spent a lot of time reading comments on the P&O forum as we were cruising with P&O. Perhaps this is why people disappear for a while !Feeling a bit worried about our forthcoming cruise on the Dream as people seem very unhappy with the food on board. Will write a review when we get back. Our very first Cruise was with Thomsons many many years ago. It was great fun but I was very sea-sick on the Emerald !

  10. I ended up with Bronchitis after our cruise on Azura in January and although I do not know how to stop catching coughs I do have a great cure for anyone who spends the night coughing and can't get to sleep.

Get some Vic or other menthol product and rub it on to the undersides of both feet. You might need someone to help you with this !

Cover your feet with socks and go back to bed. You will find that within ten minutes you will stop coughing. Trust me it really works and has been tried by many family members and friends. I think the plane journey is usually the cause of most coughs and colds before and after a cruise. Lots of people were coughing on our return journey from Barbados.

  11. Hello Cristaltips and Princessthebest.

    I am thinking Positive !

I sincerely hope there are not going to be any more cancelled cruises. Like you I hope P&O will keep people in the loop and let us all know what is going on. It is not in their interest to let everyone down. This is our first cruise with P&O and we wouldn't be happy to book another one if it was cancelled. I am sure everyone else would feel the same. They do need to make a statement explaining why the Flight Booker has been out of action for so long.

  12. Hello Patsy

Yes I am getting worried now. I cannot begin to think what a nightmare it will be for us if our cruise is cancelled as living abroad we have booked extra flights, hotel stays etc. etc. The Cruise Flight booker has been out of action a long time now and it is very frustrating having to check it all the time. This is our first Cruise with P&O and I hate feeling all is not well.

I do hope P&O will remind us straight away when the flight booker becomes active again. I am really looking forward to our cruise but do feel I want to get flight seats organised as soon as possible.

Did you fill in a questionnaire about favourite ports ? We did wonder what this was all about ?
