Maybe I misunderstood - where's the rental while you're on the boat?  Parked in the lot or returned?  If returned, why not just take Carnival's connection from airport to port.

Maybe I'm missing the logistics here as to why you can't leave the carseats in the car, if you are parking at port.

And if you're returning the car, how are you getting from rental return to port?  Taxi?  If so, why not just take the taxi to begin with (still need car seats...).

However, to answer your question - if you take it onto the boat, you have to store it in your room.  The five year old can probably get away with a booster (smaller), but your 2 year old will still need a full sized one.  You will need to consume some of your closet space if you want it 'out of the way'.

I've only begun to figure out the logistics for our trip but I do know that we plan to arrive in Orlando a few days before the cruise so we can do 1 day at Magic Kingdom.  Initially my plan is to rent a car and either bring our car seats with us or use car seats that the rental company provides.  If the former, we'll need to store the car seats in our cabin because we'll return the rental before boarding the ship.  If the latter, then no need to store because we won't have them.

As I talk this out... unless there's some crazy fee, we'll probably do the rental company provided car seats and arrange for returning the rental at the Port Canaveral area.  The only thing holding me back is whatever details I can get on the actual car seats - i'm assuming they'll be just as good as what we currently use, but I do want to make sure

  2. I know I can bring a 12 pack of soda per adult ... but I'm curious about the following and if they're allowed?

    - Juice boxes (like Capri Suns)

    - Prepackaged snacks (like individual bags of chips etc.)

    - Fruit/veggie pouches (apple sauce pouches, baby food style pouches, etc.)

Also curious, when we visit islands... what is and what isn't allowed off the ship?  For example, if I fill a Nalgene bottle of water, is that ok? Nalgene bottle of juice? What about the packaged foods mentioned above or even the boxes of cereal you can grab at Lido?  I'm betting you can't bring any of the non-packaged foods, even if you put them in ziplocs right?

We are travelling with 2 young children so I'd like to have some juice boxes for the cabin and it'd be nice to have some snacks I know they like either for the cabin or for packing when we hit the beach.  Thoughts?

  3. We are traveling with a 2 year old and 5 year old and because we are flying in a few days early and renting a car for the pre-cruise part, we’ll have 2 car seats. Aside from keeping them in our  cabins once we board, is there a place Carnival could store them? Or should we just accept the fact that we’ll have to tuck them somewhere in the room?

  4. We are travelling in August on the Elation (5 day cruise).  Not really interested in spending $80 for FTTF to get on early/gain early access to cabins.  We will be flying in a few days early and thus will be able to head to Port Canaveral whenever we want.

What time are cabins usually ready?

How early can you board without FTTF?

edit to add... and if I change my mind and decide to get it.... how early can I get on?

When I sailed on the the Elation last it didn't have a fridge. Unless they have changed things all the Fantasy Class ships are Fridge free. I always bring a cooler and have the Steward keep it filled with ice.

Was that before their recent drydock or after?

  6. We are going to be on the Elation with our 5 year old and 2 year old and we hope to use Camp Ocean (if the kids are into it).  Do they limit the number of participants?  Any idea on how many staff there are?  I'm sure when I see it I'll be more comfortable, but I'm a bit nervous despite hearing great reviews.

Also, do they keep that age (Penguins) in the room at all times or will they leave the room with the kiddos?
