Really? They seemed pretty specific and adamant about not arriving before your boarding time. Our boarding time is 3:00. I don't know who we could talk to unless we are actually on the ship. I don't think the porters that take your luggage would be much help. LOL.

I'll see what we can do about getting a note from DH's doctor. Thanks.

This happened to us a few years back on Celebrity, we specifically booked a large OV in the front of the ship corner close to our friends, the room was heaps bigger and we were so excited, it was an 11 day trip and the extra room and floor to ceiling window looked amazing. When we got to the terminal they had upgraded us to an aft balcony.  We were not happy, it was noisy and loud and 1/2 the size of the room we had booked.  They didn't care, apparently the people in the next cabin needed our cabin for a family trip because it had a connecting door.  So my point is, it's NOT just MSC.  I hope you still enjoy your cruise

  2. You could try calling and asking.  Honestly it's kind of "hit and miss" with their representatives that "know" what is actually really able to be done, but I just read that someone went to guest services once onboard and got an upgrade from inside on deck 5 to a balcony.....really nice......I do know that closer to the sail date you will start getting upgrade offers......for bidding....I haven't tried it but the I did notice the offers were higher than the original price for the room....good luck and let us know how it goes...

  3. My husband and I were on Meraviglia in November.  My husband ordered beer in the main dining room and had no problem getting it.  We never had a problem getting a drink when we ordered one.  We also always give extra $$ when we order a drink because of the issue with tips already included.  I honestly did not know about getting an upgrade at guest services and I will definitely try it on our upcoming cruise on Seascape...I also found the buffet food to be repetitive but it was always good.  We also had late dining and had no problem switching to early.  The island is absolutely "NOT FINISHED" but what they have accomplished is amazing and I'm not sure all that they have planned, but it is a work in progress.

We really enjoy MSC and the hospitality of everyone we have encountered has always been pleasurable.  We even had issues at embarkation due to my passport being expired and using my resident alien card, but they solved it very quickly.  I'm sorry that you had a less than stellar experience.....

  4. We are booked on an Alaskan cruise....a dream vacation...in June.....now thwarted for the time being.....but I wonder surely they can't leave the ships to just "sit there idle"....so I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on if they would re-route them and if we, the people, already booked would get to just go on the new itinerary, keeping our same rooms etc.

That cruise still has to stop at a foreign port.  Where would you suggest they go?  When we cruised to Alaska out of Seattle, we stopped in Victoria.  That isn't an option now.  I would expect all Alaska cruises to be canceled until Canada reopens their ports.

How do Hawaiian cruises get away without stopping in a foreign port?

  6. So my hubby and I were booked on Millie for Alaska forward oceanview cabin 6001....we were happy with that choice but then oceanview cabin 7002 became available not above the theatre and looks way bigger but the specs onboard say same size.....so has anyone sailed on Millennium cabin 7002 and can give me some pics..

  7. So every time you board a cruise ship you are prone to "norovirus"....so many tales of people and ships that had problems.....why is this different to everyone....the American flu has killed many thousands of people this year alone.....I'm unsure why "cornonavirus " is more scary to people than the flu...it's a chance we take going out every day...and I work in health care......taking precautions as we should...but cancelling a cruise....sounds a little over the top

When you are making your Amtrak reservations, please beware that there is a Vancouver WA (south of Seattle), and a Vancouver BC, Canada that is served by Amtrak.  The two cities are about 300 miles apart, but folks who don't live in the PNW may not realize that there are two Vancouver cities.  It does happen that folks will book the wrong train.

So when you book, please make sure that you are booking Vancouver, BC Canada.

I seriously did that....but thankfully my friend realized it and we were able to change with no worries.....yep had no idea....

  9. Last year on our 11 night cruise, we went around 8 pm and were extremely happy with the wait staff and table location we were given and the next night we returned around the same time and asked for the same wait staff....after that, each night we turned up we were automatically given the same area, I asked the young lady at the podium how that was working out and she said, well you were arriving between 8 and 8:15 each night and you liked the location so I just penciled you in each night, if for some reason you didn't come, like the couple of nights we did specialty she just gave it away to someone else...to me she went above and beyond...just amazing....

  10. I guess I just need to call NCL and ask them.....what I'm going to get for their price of

$299...I will say I was most intrigued that this ship is "open bar" but bottled water isn't included....they want you to get smashed I guess.....I would think they would want to hydrate you.....my friends are paying almost $40 for a 12 pack of water in their room......ridiculous..

  11. A few years ago we went to GSC with MSC cruises and booked a cabana....it was quite nice....and not terribly expensive, however, now the pics show sectional seating and while the NCL site shows $299 for a small, ppl are stating $500 why the picture and price differences....we are heading there on a 3 day on Sky in a few weeks and just want to know the scoop.....

  12. Loving your review....and it is making me even more ready for our cruise coming up 5/15......don't want to really mention that much, as it is the day you get off.....:(sorry.....

Have they done the Chef's challenge where there is audience participation?....and if so what day and time was it....I have a hard time reading the dailies you are posting....I'm computer challenged.....
