As I said on another thread they knew this weather was coming. We left Saturday and magically this forecast appeared. ?? I don’t think so. The letter from the Captain putting us in Juneau was dated the 29th ..one day after we departed. Hmmm. Sticking us in Juneau cost them nothing compared to cancelling the cruise..which is what they should have done.

This storm was not a surprise. Our sophisticated weather information is very good. I think they knew this situation was coming, but if they cancelled the cruise , they would have to refund our money..so now we sit here in Juneau and all Holland America has to do is refund port taxes.

This weather is cold and rainy and the people I have seen coming back to the ship do not look like they were enjoying themselves.
‘’Juneau is a beautiful place under normal circumstances.

Have never cruised Carnival, Royal Caribbean once about 20 years ago, and NCL a couple a times. We ate at the Pinnacle Grill..enjoyed it. Quiet, excellent service , the filet wasn’t prime, but it was good…it was a pleasant dinner. We would go back.

Had the omelette this morning -- thought it was lovely. 🙂
Well we all have different standards about what is good food. Their food in our opinion is average cruise ship food.

The made to order omelet station in Lido has fresh mushrooms.

So much for the documentary on all the fresh produce. 🤢

We are going tonight. .so far we have not been impressed with the food at all. The mushrooms for the omelette were canned.

Well I know it is not their fault, however we did pay for these stops. Will see what happens. So far not impressed

Is HAL supposed to refund port fees etc for all this missed itinerary…I ask and was told no. Curious. 60 cruises, and never had this situation before.

We have stayed twice at The Ritz Carlton and wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Don’t book through the cruise line…you are paying double. Lovely hotel.

We thought the food on Princess was awful…

I would pass on Discovery Princess. Once and only once were we on Princess..it was that ship..too big..too many people.

If that was 2023 I know that person and yes he had insurance and rejoined the cruise. He was quite pleased with how everything went
No that was probably 8 years ago. This was a woman.

We booked a cruise for Christmas and added CO. Then our adult granddaughter was going to join us. Our TA could only waitlist her. I called ships inventory and explained the situation, and that we would be at the same table..and please could she be added. He was very receptive and did.

We were on a SA cruise and had a passenger that had to be evacuated in Ushuaia, Argentina. All I thought was I hoped they had insurance. That is truly “El Fin Del Mundo”

We do not “decorate” our cabin.

This came up in a search. We just snagged 6052 and it came up in this thread. Like the extra space

Depending on which terminal, the Residence Inn Bayfront, SpringHill Suites Bayfront or InterContinental San Diego might be closer. All three are directly across from the cruise port and 2 miles from the airport. See the map below.

Hopefully it is the Residence Inn Bayfront, DTSD has three Residence Inns.
Which is why I'd choose the newish Residence Inn Bayfront, SpringHill Suites Bayfront or InterContinental San Diego.
Anthony's had gotten very sad and dated in everything I was sad initially too, but Miguel's did an amazing job with the Portside Pier.
Yes it is the Residence Inn Bayfront.

When evaluating cruise dates/ports, head to cruisetimetables.com. Find your cruise, and at the very end of the itinerary detail is a "port loads" link, which will display all the ships and max capacity for each port day. Currently showing dates through Oct '26.
very interesting site. Thanks for the post.

For them it was about money. For the customer the best places are cancelled. If you are happy that’s great. Glad you like the food…we think it is average cruise food…
