  1. Thats ridiculous.

    I know right

Repositioning cruises are normally cheaper, there are not a lot of port days, so I can't see the justification of these massive prices. I would love to do this cruise but not at those prices.

Especially for us Aussies, all our onboard spend is in US dollars and with our falling dollar at the moment we will need to add 25 to 30% just to cover the exchange.

    :(:(

  2. Glad that I have crossed that cruise off my list then. Though, I'm curious to see how high they were. Care to share them?

Sure, I am hoping they will come down in price, this is what I have got:

    Inside $7249

    Outside $11019

    Balcony $11479

    Mini suite $14339

    Suite $27649

This is 46 days to Melbourne

  3. Yeap. Its for departing 1 October 2016. Its got me interested too.

I was considering the Emerald Princess relocation to Oz. But I was dissapointed by the lack of interesting stops.

    And the prices :eek::eek::eek:

  4. As big old bird said there will be a special market day out on for the cruisers. Mornington is a beautiful town to visit and they have plenty of shore tours on offer. I have seen the proposed shore tours and they looked great but I cannot remember what they were. I think one was Arthur's seat, wineries.

I am looking forward to coming down to see the ship as I only live 15 minutes away.

Add. I found the article, here is an snippet

The whole peninsula is set to benefit from a splurge in tourist dollars with Carnival Cruise lines arranging assorted tours, such as Mornington Explorer bus trips, relaxing at Peninsula Hot Springs, enjoying a tipple at Red Hill Estate and Green Olive, a Horseback Winery Adventure, drink at T’Gallant Winemakers, visiting Enchanted Adventure Garden, stand up paddle boarding, Sorrento dolphin swim, snorkelling with sea dragons, dolphin sanctuary kayaking, Mornington fishing experience, and sand sculpting at Frankston.

  5. I spilt coffee on mine whilst in Europe. Travelled all over Europe, in cluding Russia, no problems. Returned home no problems. When I wanted to go to Asia last year I was told my Passport was not up to standard and that I was travelling at my own risk. Two weeks in Asia including CHina no problems. I still have five years on it. Mmmm Cruising again Jan 2016. I suppose I will have to fork out, as my passport is now flagged as 'having been told'. K

Ouch. Yes, you would hate them to deny you entry/ boarding. How annoying.

Better to be safe than sorry.

  6. Renewing for the first time and it's more expensive than when I got the original one! I certainly wasn't expecting $110 to renew! :(

I wish, renewals here (Australia) are about $230 for 10 years and we MUST have a passport for any travel outside Australia.

  7. Hi all,

I'm new to the forum. Not one to cruise, at least not yet, but I do need some help with some Aussie slang. One of the characters I'm writing in my book speaks in a broken Canadian/Aussie language. I'm wondering if there is a colorful word for "murder" or "suspicious circumstances that lead to murder", the same way we might say "there's been foul play". Any help is greatly appreciated and I apoligize if I'm hijacking the thread :o

Hi, what about 'it all looks a bit sus" meaning it all looks a bit suspicious.

  8. From the 1st August 2014 we changed to pin only. You can still swipe you card but you do require a pin.

I just looked up an article and it says this does not apply to foreign visitors. So it looks like you are good to go.

    Copy from article

Similarly, foreign visitors to Australia will still be able to sign for purchases as the chip and PIN requirement only applies to Australian cards.

  9. My cruise of a lifetime doesn't exist, but a girl can dream.

I would love to cruise around the world for as long as it takes, with port stops for 2-3 days to really explore.

I would love an even mix of port and sea days

I would love to sail Princess but not on the smaller ships. Grand class would be perfect.

I would love to travel in a suite.

if you are listening Princess, call me, we can discuss the detail.

  10. Could you imagine a land based hotel giving you free room service meals?

Could you imagine a land based hotel giving you free breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Could you imagine a land based hotel giving you free evening entertainment?

Could you imagine a land based hotel giving you free transport from city to city?

Could you ever imagine an Australian hotel guest not complaining about everything?

I don't recall getting my cruise for free, to cruise in a suite I can assure you I have paid for every item you have listed. And I certainly have no complaints.:p

  11. Hi Linda, We are on her in February. Can you please tell me what movies were showing at the time you were cruising. Thanks

We didn't watch many of the movies and I really can't remember all of them,

Man of steel, The way way back, and I think Iron man.

We had a 11 day cruise followed by a 10 day cruise and they played the same movies on both cruises.

  12. I have recently been sailing on the Diamond Princess. We had the best room steward ever, could you please do me a favour, could you go to cabins around e731, e733 aft and speak to Marlon (room steward) and tell him I haven't forgotten about the 5th. He will understand.

    Thanks

    Linda

Forgot to add.. Have a wonderful trip, the Diamond is my favourite ship.
