  1. Where did that come from? Very unlikely metric for comparing performance between lines since cruise links very widely. Profit per passenger day possibly, but little meaning in profit per passenger. Even at profit per passenger day the value of that metric would be very little, without combing a bunch of other metrics into it. Not a metric CCL has talked about in the past, unlike ROCI which they have mentioned as being a key metric in previous quarters.
  2. Considering that this is an internal metric comparing performance between different brands according to the same criteria rather unlikely to be be gamed or spun. Doing so when corporate has access to all of the same numbers likely to result in loss of confidence/job of the one trying to game the results.
  3. Apparently you so not know that occupancy is measured using the ships occupancy at 2 per cabin, lower bunk capacity. Since have 3/4 capacity cabins occupancy is usually over 100%
  4. Sure, but they are not selling and leasing back. They are running the same methodology across all of their brands. 8 million is not a drop in the bucket. It is in the ball park for a normal drydock including some refurb work. Funny how you mention the amount of the dry dock, but do not accept that they might do some work between dry docks with some rooms taken out servic3 if scheduling requires it. It is not the major full remodel that celebrity and NCL did on their ships which is what some what to compare to. The only major complete remodels of in CCL lines that i can find is the 3 ships in Carnival that were sister ships. Those remodels started with the Triumph after the infamous Poop cruise and resulted in a complete redo of the class including renaming in an attempt to get away from the bad press related to that cruise.
  5. I expect the major improvement between the two most recent quarters is due to occupancy and more efficiency in inventory management. Overall it appears that CCL lines averaged 112% occupancy during the last quarter. Pretty much back to pre covid numbers. Overall CCL showed very nice profitability.
  6. Not in revenue, not enough fleet capacity compared to other lines. Most likely in return on capital invested that CCL seems to be focusing on these days.
  7. That fits with what is happinimg with other CCL lines. Expect 30 is the new 24. Where as CCL lines used to get rid of ships at 24, expect them to keep them to 30 for the next several years.
  8. I would suspect that the measure for HAL is ROCI. The same measure that CCL had focused on last quarter. Might move them up the priority list, but still based upon age of fleet capacity still would expect new orders to be placed in 2026.
  9. Getting purchased by a hedge fund is not quite the same as just going out on their own. The hedge fund got a bargain price on a very small line that RCL wanted to offload. If HAL has hit revenue targets very unlikely CCL would want to offload.
  10. Will be interesting when the next analyst meeting takes place.
  11. Probably not any more than normal during that period. Rules or no rules some people tend to try sneaking vapes even when the rules say no. Saw one fellow sneaking a vape in an elevator on the Solstice. He had it down to an art form. Raised his hand to his mouth, coughed, then inhaled from his vape, then lowered his hand. I suspect there are many that vape that do not believe the rules apply to them on pretty much all lines.
  12. Currently on Regal Princess and there is no such display. There also was not one on last previous Princess cruise in November of last year. Have been on other lines during the brief time that the error existed in the cruise contract. Would be helpful if you could link to that post. Just chatted with the Hotel Manager on Regal Princess. He said that he has never seen such a statement on any Princess ship he has been on. He was curious and asked if i could show him the picture.
  13. One minor correction ONE (Open Network Exchange) was never a timeshare company. The owners that started ONE, did so after selling a previous company that did exhange time share weeks for cruises. Which pretty much spanned the major US focused lines. That prior business gave them contacts That said ONE has put together a travel package of dubious value that i would stay far far away from.
  14. Actually vaping is not allowed in cabins on Princess. There was an error in one of the cruise contract updates, but that has since been corrected.
  15. It depends upon what work they are doing. Something like a complete failure in a room they might have to do immediately. But other things they might handle such as Celebrity did by doing a few cabins that needed door seals and carpet repla ed by taking a few rooms out of service and having the work crews on board. All depends upon the work they need to do, when the next drydock is and what is scheduled then. In some cases it is also what could not get done in the previous dry dock due to lack of time or in some instances because needed materials did not arrive in time. Costs much less to take a few cabins out of service for a cruise including maybe a few different cabins on each of a few cruises then to have to extend the next drydock or to not have time to get the work done at all.
  16. One would consider a 6 month lead time to be scheduling well inadvance. Plenty of work goes on between dry docks. Usually does not require rooms to be taken out of service, but sometimes they do have projects that do require it.
  17. You can sometimes find out when on ship, but usually not befote hand. In the case with celebrity i noticed some workmen out the room after i boarded and started talking with them. In that case they were doing major work on doors and door seals and were redoing 14 rooms on a 7 day cruise. They were also replacing carpet due to water damage from bad seals in those rooms, but that was being done by a different team. In the Princess case there were no names on the room, but my steward, who covered that room as well said his list first had us in that room, then it got changed empty for the first 3 days, then to a visiting entertainer. In both cases could not get any answer before the cruise, only that they were removed from inventory for operational reasons.
  18. Except in this case they got another similar steak, because the one purchased was not available. Not like they purchased a balconey and got an inside which is what you example implied. They also got notified early enough that they could change they mind for full refund. If a cabin is removed from inventory it is no longer available to customer service or inventory management. Not unlike if a airline changes equipment for a given flight and you selected seat is not available
  19. yep. They used to be in the same group, but not they each report directly.
  20. It might just be that they are scheduling work to be done in advance for that cruise. Have not heard any reports of the cabin being unavailable for 6 months. Only 1 cruise. Since people seem to be upset at the notice before the cancellation date if work is being scheduled what are the other options. 1. give no notice until start of cruise 2. let them stay in room and do work while room is occupied 3. Do no work, even if it is necessary. Will be interesting for someone to check on that cruise if the cabin is occupied or not during the actual cruise. Would also be interesting to note if any other cabins are taken out of inventory for that cruise.
  21. I believe that the cruise contract overrides that in case of violations. Mostly paragraph 4 since it would be a violation of law. It also indicates a full refund of monies paid for the disallowed cruise would occur. It also states in a more general clause that the Cruiselines are only liable for monies paid to them if you booked travel and hotels independently it is the responsibility of the passenger. Your cruise is legal, boston quebec fll is not. If it slips past customer service, or your ta, then the booking might be accepted, but then will get caught when compliance does its checks.
  22. I believe compliance checks about 4 to 8 weeks before a cruise for b2b pvsa violations
  23. Pretty much the same as other Royal class layout with the exception of an indoor pool where the retreat pool is on other Royal class ships and the indoor Hollywood Conservatory replacing where the Sanctuary would normally be. No Sanctuary on Majestic. Some minor differences in casino and dining venues.
  24. You basically did a closed loop cruise that started and ended in Boston which is allowed. Totally different than Boston to Fll.
  25. Its called Hollywood pool and Conservatory. The pool used to be adult only, but that changed to all ages a couple of years ago (making it far less attractive). The pool is heated, but only about 3 feet deep
