  1. I booked with Dora the Explorer for Cartagena and was very happy with the pre-cruise experience AND ESPECIALLY the day of tour itself - she handled all logistics to get us to the spots and avoid the crowds of the ship tours where possible. She is a fantastic guide - and we thoroughly enjoyed our day with her. And she made certain we were back to the ship on time - loved it!

  2. Queen Mary tour for the cruise history buffs... (Several of options)

Aquarium of the Pacific for the nature/animal lover... (All day)

Sunseeker Tours does a great day tour of LA from Long Beach which touches on lots of TV, movie, and famous places for the tourist... (All day)

    Have a wonderful time!

  3. We ate breakfast on the Queen Mary the morning before our Carnival Cruise at Promenade Cafe on board. The coffee was fine, the service was fine, the restaurant was not crowded. We had the English Eggs Benedict, but most people had the buffet which was the same price per person. We sat by the window and watched flocks of seabirds playing/fishing in the morning light and lots of "dolphins" frolicking in the bay. We had a gorgeous view of Long Beach. A lovely way to end our stay on the Queen Mary.

We also ate at the Omelette Inn on our return to Long Beach (when we stayed at the Hyatt). Their chocolate chip muffin was probably the best we've ever had - highly recommend the baked goods there. No views or interesting atmosphere, but good food.

  4. Gaslamp Quarter or Marina area is best. You can take a city bus to Balboa Park or the Zoo, or even Sea World (which I avoid). Cabs are also an option, or Uber if you do that. The San Diego Trolley serves the Gaslamp and Marina area, and you can use this to get to Old Town which has some old historic areas and decent places to eat as well. You can also take it to two of our larger shopping centers (Fashion Valley and Mission Valley). Parking downtown is expensive and hard to find, so best to avoid getting a rental car unless you decide to stay in Mission Valley/Hotel Circle area instead.

Thank you - we will definitely search for places in Gaslamp or Marina areas. This helps narrow it down and gives us better peace of mind that we are picking the better area for what we would like to experience.

    Thank you:)

  5. We are thinking if arriving in San Diego a few days before our cruise to see the Zoo, Seaworld, USS Midway, etc... Does anyone know where we should be looking for a hotel in San Diego? Airport shuttle, cruise shuttle, near transport to Zoo, near transport to Seaworld, reasonable price, safe neighborhood,...

  6. Has anyone done the CR46 Celebrity tour to Espiritu Santo Coffee Plantation, Sarchi, and the Ox Cart Factory?

Is the coffee plantation one of the Starbucks providers?

How much inner workings are seen, or is this just a coffee tasting & purchasing?

Is lunch in Sarchi included (what is served?) or on our own (what's available)?

How long was spent at the Ox cart factory? How much of the manufacturing process is there to be seen? Or is it just a showroom or museum?

    Thanks :)

  7. Has anyone done both? Or either? Which cruise should I choose? They leave one day apart from San Diego and they are the same price for the cabin category we are looking at?

What are the naturalists or historians or speakers like on each?

How about the shows? Activities? Common areas? Views of the canal?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

  8. We were pleasantly surprised that elegant evening was after Catalina (and not the sea day). Serenity and all hot tubs were very full (but probably since it's only a 3 day - 4 night cruise). Staff were fantastic. Brian the cruise director was very charismatic. Christmas decorations and events/show were lovely. Ditto that we enjoyed the Inspiration...
