  1. I have not done a cruise since pre covid. I had one booked for during covid but it got cancelled and now I finally got around to booking for next year.  I noticed on my booking that gratuities were not added and nothing was asked about if I wanted to pre pay them or not.

Can I just call and ask them to add it on or do I wait and do it the old fashion way with giving to each one individually. How is it being done these days.

    Thanks for any help

  2. I had a cruise booked for Oct. 2020 and awhile back I did a lift and lock to Oct. 2021.

I paid the deposit, insurance and was making some payments on the cruise totaling $1050. I am thinking we may just cancel it.  I know I should get back insurance and payments that were made refunded to my credit card. Has anyone recently  cancelled  before final payment? How long did you have to wait to see it on your card?

    Thanks

  3. I posted this morning looking for info on doing a lift and switch and I thank everyone for your answers.

We had 3 cabins booked for Oct. 2020 for a Canada/New England 7 day cruise. We had 1B balconies.

I called Royal and after waiting almost 40 minutes I spoke with someone about it.

He was able to change all 3 cabins for me to Oct. 2021. Exact same itinerary and ship and same cabin class.

We were able to change cabin location to 3 hump cabins which are better location.

Within minutes of talking to him, I received an email showing the change with a higher price.  He also said a new email would come out in approximately 48 hours showing

    the lower price.

Hoping the situation is much better by Oct. 2021.

    Thanks again

  4. I am looking for more info about Lift and Switch.

I have a cruise to Canada?New England booked for Oct. 2020. When I booked I put a $5oo non-refundable deposit down. I was told that if i cancelled the only way I could get that back was if I bought and paid for travel protection at the same time so I did.

There are 6 of us going in 3 cabins. The other day we decided that we should cancel because we are still concerned about the virus.

I called Royal Caribbean and explained that to that. They told me that even though I purchased the insurance, they do not pay it until the cruise is paid for so no i would not get back the deposit in cash but in a Future Cruise credit.  That was never explained to me when I booked it. He said if i paid the whole cruise, the insurance would only give me back 75% of the deposit plus what i paid but only under certain circumstances. A pandemic is not a covered reason. I have not cancelled yet.

So I forgot to ask but does anyone know how long the FCC is good for?

Also looking to find out about a lift and switch. I never heard of it until i saw someone mentioning it on here. Just curious how that would work. Does that just move my deposit to another cruise? i I booked the same cruise for Oct 2021 would I get the same pricing?

thanks I appreciate any info I can get before deciding what to do.

  5. Ok. Thank you everyone.

I haven't sailed Princess for awhile and I remembered some of the balconies only had a "partial" covering.

I just wanted to get some ideas.  Is there away of telling by looking at the ship diagrams?

If going to Alaska, I for sure want a balcony so I guess I need to check them over good...

    Thanks again...

  6. I am looking at an Alaska cruise for 2021 on the Royal Princess. Are any of the balconies not covered?  I want to make sure whatever deck I choose it has a covered balcony.

Anyone been on the Royal Princess what was your favorite deck?  I am looking at a balcony or deluxe balcony.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  7. I haven't been on a cruise for the past year and a half. Went on to start looking at an Alaska cruise. I notice all the cabin codes are changed.

I always did a D1 or D2. So would the 4B be equivalent?  What is the 1G, 2G, 3G and 4G. I see it says spacious ocean view balcony but what is the difference. Why are they separated on the chart?

    Thanks for the help..
