Hi, we are on the Aug 6 sailing with you.

I just read yesterday on these boards that others were notified on board that they will not be going into Skagway! Sitka was substituted! Skagway is the only port we have an excursion booked (with Chilkoot) due to the itinerary changes. I emailed Chilkoot and they said the rockslide at the pier in Skagway was in June, and most cruise ships have continued to visit Skagway, but Princess did cancel some visits this week. Soooo...are they going to be honest with us about this or inform us at the last minute? And I totally agree with you, they continued to sell the original itinerary knowing that they would be changing the itinerary. We will end up spending more time on the ship then we will in the ports.

The Crown docks at a different pier than the others that were cancelled there in Skagway I believe. We should be ok there.

The simple fact is that they have known the entire season and still sell the original itinerary to this day. So people can quibble over minutiae about whatever parts she needs or whose fault it was. But the fact remains that people like myself, sailing Aug 20., are only hearing from Princess and our T. Agents 30 days prior. I found out yesterday. And nobody can say for sure until Princess makes an official decision, so.I don't fault my agent. So unless people are constantly in these forums or, like myself, decide to go on YouTube excited to learn about this cruise-- they are clueless until a month prior. Too late to cancel, although I myself wouldn't anyways. I even looked at reviews of my ship and at the time of purchase found nothing about this stuff. And most people won't delve so far as to read cruise hive or cruise radio daily. So YES there is a management problem in the form of delayed facts/communications. HOWEVER I am still SUPER excited and thankful to be cruising on her and have spent the last few weeks on pins and needles.

We sail on the Crown Princess on Aug. 6 and we were officially notified of the itinerary change on July 23. Only 2 weeks before our sailing. What Princess has done concerning the Crown Princess is bordering on Fraud. They knew well before the start of the Alaska season that there were very serious engine issues on the Crown and has done little or nothing to repair them. Yet Princess continues to sail this broken ship, canceling ports and excursions, ruining people's vacations, and is still booking passengers for it while NOT informing them of the engine problems. Princess cares more about money than it does its passengers or guests. Shame on you Princess Cruises!!

Yes, got the email notification for my August 20 cruise today.  "Because of operational reasons" (i.e., Princess would rather provide an inferior experience to the itinerary booked than take the ship out of service for repairs and rebook passengers on alternate sailings or offer refunds)...

Got my email at 12:05 this morning for our Aug 6 sailing.  What Princess is doing concerning the Crown Princess is bordering on Fraud. So we are currently on the Crown Princess to Alaska and they have just cancelled ANOTHER shore excursion!! No whale watch in Juneau now. We were notified at approx 10 am that the excursion at 4pm had been cancelled due to trouble with the propulsion system! So initially we had 4 excursions booked-we are now down to 2.  This ship should not be in service since apparently this issue has been ongoing. Our first port/excursion was cancelled due to there being an issue that limited the speed of the ship so we had to skip a port. Then our whale watching excursion was changed 4 times and finally just cancelled 😡. The entire ship is abuzz with pissed off people. And the only thing we are hearing is

“ all we can do is give you onboard credit and a free tram ride in Juneau.” Of course-every other excursion is sold out.

I will never sail with Princess again. This entire once in a lifetime cruise, except for the lovely crew members, has been a disaster.

Was checking on our Sept. Alaska cruise from Seattle, when I went to my account a new page came up. It now appears that even if fully vaccinated they are now requiring a covid test before boarding. More hoops will this madness ever end, excuse my rant just to early and have not had my coffee yet.

I'm just hoping that the pre cruise testing will be ending soon. Since passengers and crew are required to be fully vaccinated and Covid is on the decline and waning now, pre cruise testing is a moot point. We have an Alaska cruise scheduled in August and sailed this past January on the Regal. The added stress and anxiety prior to our January cruise due to pre cruise testing was not enjoyable. But we did have a blast on the cruise!

Here’s our current location. We haven’t gotten very far overnight 😬

i love my cabin here on 5. LOVE watching the water almost at sea level and on occasion the spray gets as high as my window. Definitely feel the motion which I love.

I see that yall are making about 17 knots. That's not too bad, considering. When the Crown Princess departed Long Beach/Los Angeles she started out at about 10-11 knots and slowly crept up to about 15 knots after a few days. We are enjoying your "Live from" posts. We are sailing on the Crown in August. Keep them posts coming...

Got an email about an itin change this morning but it was only that we are sailing from Seattle an hour earlier (3pm instead of 4pm).  No changes to any of our port arrival/depart times, including Ketchikan. This is for the 8/27 sailing.

Same here. We are on the 8/6 sailing.

  9. On our January cruise on the Regal Princess leaving from Ft. Lauderdale, the whole process was very smooth, easy, and fast. Upon entering the cruise terminal and after security, they directed us to the Green line. And then from there, there were 2 or 3 stations we passed through for identification and Covid and such. And then they directed us to the counter area were our Medallions were waiting for us. The whole process took maybe 15 minutes at the very most. The employees will assist you the entire way. It was very well organized, you will do fine. Enjoy your cruise!

  10. Hi Tracie... Me and my cruising buddy are sailing on the Regal Princess on Jan. 14. Our last cruise was a 10 day Panama Canal cruise on the Caribbean Princess in Jan of 2020. We can't wait until our cruise and we are very excited about it, but we know things have changed because of Covid. Can't wait to read your posts and reviews of our ship. Bon Voyage, have a great cruise, and keep those posts coming.

I was in Cartagena last week on the Disney Wonder. Definitely agree on the price before you get in the taxi. Inside the port is slightly higher than outside the port. As I approached the taxi area, a guy asked me where I wanted to go, and I said the clock tower. He told me it would be $20 for 3 people. I told him "no thanks", and he immediately said, "$15". I told him "how about $12", and he grimaced a little, and said "okay". The taxi drivers in the port area wear a blue shirt with TAXI written all over it. He took us straight to the clock tower, but he tried to get us to let him take us on a tour, that included La Popa. We did a tour like that the first time we went to Cartagena, so I told him we just needed a ride to town. Once we did our walking tour of the old town, as I got near the clock tower, a guy approached me and asked if we needed a cab ride to the port, and I said "how much", and he told me $10. We followed him outside the clock tower entrance wall to a taxi, and once we got in I asked the driver if the total price was $10, and he said "yes". That guy did not have the TAXI shirt, and his car was slightly smaller, but it was fine. I was wondering if he would drop us off outside the port, but he dropped us off inside the port. They take US dollars.......jonathan

Thanks for the great information. But a quick question if I may. What is the drive time from the port to the clock tower? Or from the clock tower back to the port? Thanks in advance.

No we did not get any lunch in the walled city. We stopped at Juan Valdez to buy a bag of coffee to go.  We honestly grabbed a taxi after we ate breakfast on the ship. And found that we didn’t need to spend that much time in the walled city as we originally thought. Number one because we were hounded so much about buying anything and everything and I mean hounded. (  and our Spanish is pretty good so it definitely wasn’t lack of communication )So we were back on the ship and had lunch. We did bring water and a few little package snacks with us but we didn’t need them on our walk.

Thank you. We are 29 days out now. So excited.
