  1. Skip the Carnival tours and book a private tour. We just used Liberty Tours Jamaica last month and had the greatest tour of our lives. They offer a variety of tours, will do what you want to do and when. Aden and Ricardo are the main two drivers. They will stay with you the entire time. Very safe and secure with a clean, air conditioned van. Secret Falls is a must see, and jerk chicken is the BEST!

just got off the carnival freedom. booked liberty tours for the secret falls tour. we got off the ship right away and our tour rep was waiting. took us to the secret falls.. we were the 1st ones there and it was great. after an hour or so more people came. we really enjoyed this our and would highly recommend it.:D best tour i had off a ship...

  2. :)so i usually set up my account on the first day when you usually get bonus minutes. so you get more bonus minutes if you pre book? can i pre book with platium status? i know the minutes vary for cruise length...we are going on a 31 day and both platium, how much time are we allowed? thanks martha

  3. yes this is a very 'standard' show. seen this many times on princess and even the 'tutu'. the crew talent show is always great! nice way to end he cruise :) another tradition i have seen many times on princess is in the theatre, they hand out balloons before the show starts. people blow them up and start bouncing/volleying them around the theatre. lots of fun while u r sitting there waiting:D

  4. Just so the OP isn't mislead, parking is only free for the nights you are staying at the hotel.

If you want to leave your car while on cruise you either have to pay a nightly fee or you can book their park and cruise package rate.

there are many park/sleep and fly deals out there where the hotel includes a week or 2 in the price and often they have free shuttle service as well. check that out and airport parking sites. just make sure when you get the quotes that it has shuttles to the cruise port as well as the airport. we use ths type of parking in miami and ft lauderdale/pt eveglades. way cheaper!!

  5. Very possible. It would then be back in the same time frame as when we did it in 2009. I doubt it though, because the WC ends in LA. So I guess no Amazon for '15. Unless they use another ship other than the Pacific.

guess with this itinerary i will have to wait and see:confused:

  6. so my next question is one i cant get from princess...when have the previous amazon cruises gone? this coming year its dec 23 to jan 20/14. anyone know when it went last year or the year before?? we are from canada and we go to FL for a good part of the winter and wanted to book around approx when this cruise goes. anyway any info would be helpful, thanks martha:D

  7. The cruise to Manaus is a 14-day cruise on a smaller ship, the Pacific Princess. Highly unlikely there'll be more than a very few kids onboard, if any. I've cruised from Manaus twice... terrific cruise. If you have a choice, I'd take the cruise from Manaus to FLL rather than from FLL to Manaus, mostly because you get the long flight over with first. I'd also consider a round trip. :) Flights to/from Manaus from the US are generally infrequent and expensive. The Princess charter (if they still have it) is a cattle car made bearable by wine.

wow! got a lot quicker reply here than on the ports of call. yes it looks like my assumption was correct that kids wouldnt be an issue. and yes we will probably consider a b2b on this one. guess that one is for the next the plan, have a 31 day SA on this march on the golden right now. thanks to all who answered. martha

  8. this is for Pam or whoever has done the amazon/manaus princess cruise...i just know that pam has...anyway, some people do the return from ft lauderdale and we were thinking of just doing oneway there. but my DH brought up a good point that the one down is during christmas ans may have a lot of kids. im sure there would be more there than back but this is not your typical cruise itinery. so...questioon, are kids an issue?? thanks in advance, martha:)

(PS had this posted in SA ports of call, but dont think pam has been over there so thats why i reposted:o) had 1 response but wouldnt mind a little more imput...

  9. I did the cruise in both directions on the OLD Royal Princess and had a fabulous time with both legs although they turned out to feel different (different table of friends ) For us it was cheaper to fly return to FLL than to fly one way and one way back from S America - the journey and legs were seen to be tortourous

I do not think you would ever have many children on this type of cruise - due to the itinerary and due also to the size of the ships which do the Amazon.

We did a great private tour in Manous if you book and are interested.

thanks for the info, i didnt hardly think there would be many kids, but it is christmas time and those with the $$ may bring em. yes we would be interested in any private tour info you could give me. we much prefer private, thanks martha

  10. this is for Pam or whoever has done the amazon/manaus princess cruise...i just know that pam has...anyway, some people do the return from ft lauderdale and we were thinking of just doing oneway there. but my DH brought up a good point that the one down is during christmas ans may have a lot of kids. im sure there would be more there than back but this is not your typical cruise itinery. so...questioon, are kids an issue?? thanks in advance, martha:)

  11. I have rarely heard of ANYONE who committed suicide who was not severely depressed and unable - because of their illness - to see any way out of their situation. To expect people in the depths of real clinical depression to be able to see the impact on those around them, is simply not to understand mental illness. I feel sorry for this woman. Indeed the outcome for many people with mental illness might be better if all of us had a better understanding of how terrible this real illness is. The stigma suffered by the mentally ill costs lives too.

hi, i am another martha too...and although this may seem like a selfish act to those left behind...it at the time may feel like this is that persons only option...they are obviously not thinking clearly and probably emotionaly overwrought. it is easy to judge from the sidelines...

  12. I was wondering if you have room for two for your two day Lima tour or can we be put on a waitlist? Thanks

    Donna and Ann( 47 librarian)

hi donna and ann, sorry but we have a really full group! i think there is another group going thru lima daily tours on our rollcall. you could post there and see if there is any room... martha

  13. Yes, they are at the port as well as the airport. Just look for the representatives on the centre island. They're usually wearing either red (Primetime) or blue (Supershuttle) vests. If you don't see them, just ask the traffic control guys.

    thanks!!

  14. We have experienced Super Shuttle and Prime Time Shuttle from lax to port and in reverse. Cost without prebooking is $16 - $17 p.p. each way.

You sometimes have a bit of a wait even with prebooking if they are waiting for other passengers. We now just go outside of the terminal and look for the vans (blue or red) without prebooking. They try to group you with passengers going the same place, do a loop or so around the terminal until they get close to full or 75% full and then you are on your way. With all that, it usually has taken us less than one hour from hopping in to getting to the port.

They have a policy of no more than 20 minute delay before getting on way , even if not full.

so do you do this often? just go out and get the shuttle? no problem? thanks martha:)

  15. we originally had a HAL cruise booked that left from ft lauderdale and ended in LA, it was 68 days!!!!!!!!!! thought better of it, small ship, older ship and HAL (i prefer princess)besides after 68 days i might have jumped ship:eek:... so we are currently booked on the golden out of buenos aires to LA 31 days. dont think there will be shorter ones. perhaps the amazon one from ft laud to amazon and back, but its pricey too. good luck....
