  1. FYI, bidding higher will not ensure that you get a better or particular hotel. In fact it does the opposite, you will end up overbidding for the same you could have gotten cheaper. The cheapest hotel within that zone or above can accept your high bid. With priceline you need to understand that you could get any hotel within that zone. If ANY of them are not acceptable, then you shouldn't bid with priceline IMO. Hotwire might be a better option. Also, 4*'s can get upgraded to resorts, so again, overbidding just causes you to pay more for what you have bidded for less. Hope this helps!

    Thanks

I don't know how that could work "the opposite", but I did get a really great place, it just wasn't the one I was hoping for. Next time I will be more knowledgable. I feel like I did alright for a first time user.

  2. I know it's complete luck and chance, but it did seem like there was a run of Intercontinental wins, and now Marriott wins...

Anyway, I just went for it, and won the Marriott !! Woo Hoo !! :D:D:D:D $97.00 first bid accepted on Priceline.

Wow you did really well! I was chicken and bid $125 .:( I was afraid I would get a less desirable hotel. I'll be braver next time.

  3. To the Priceline experts - do you think NOW is a good time to bid with hopes of securing the Marriott. It looks like quite a few people are having success at the moment.....I'm hoping to get it for Sept.

I was hoping for La Concha but got Marriott, so I guess the only way to know is to just go for it. I doubt you'll do too badly if you bid for the right category. I didn't bid resort but 4 star. I went a little higher than the bids I saw on here for La Concha. I just don't want to spend almost $400 on a hotel room for one night!

  4. I always read the books I bring. I need at least 4-5 per cruise depending on how long or how light a read. One series of books that I have read and found "addicting" is The Yada Yada Prayer Group" books by Neta Jackson. The characters are so diverse and real. Loved each one.

I also like many of Jodi Picoult's novels, and a series of books by Brad Whittington... "Welcome to Fred, Living with Fred , and Escape from Fred. "

I found this series by accident. I bought the second one first on sale at a local book store chain. I couldn't wait to read the rest of the series so I orderd them from Amazon. I don't usually keep books once I've read them, but this series I did.

  5. We went to one of those lectures as well. We paid for the "analysis" and then sat for the sales pitch. Missed the last show :( . It sounds reasonable, but is so expensive, and the spa personnel told me I needed at least 18 months of use! Well, I went to the vitamin/fitness store at home and purchased a 2 week cleanse program. It started out ok, but felt like I had the flu. Then began having sudden accidents:o with lots of unpleasant accompanying side effects. So I quit using it and it took months to get things back to normal. I don't know if the Elemis would be like this but I think a good diet and drinking lots of water will do as much good for less cost.

  6. We booked online, and yes we did tip the driver a little bit at the end in addition to the cost of the tour. We had a very young man as our guide and he was very quiet, nice but not overly helpful. We had asked to go to a nice beach and then a good restaurant for lunch, but he seemed to just drive around and never really made any comments that he had a plan. We ended up going back to the ship and he dropped us off pretty far from the pier and we had to walk in a very congested area. I think he wasn't feeling well either. I think it would have been better to have more people in the van, and cheaper too. It was $40 pp for just the two of us. As far as having to book ahead of time I guess it would depend on how many tours he already had booked, and how many ships are in port that day. I think I would chance it if I were to visit Roatan again, which I don't plan to do. Not one of my favorite port visits.

  7. Always do your homework on prices with other agencies before contacting Interval. If you plan to exchange your week for the cruise, you have to do it before depositing it. They also only give you a day or so to make up your mind about accepting the rate they quote you. We have priced a cruise with them as an exchange before, and the price was not less than other agencies and not worth giving up the week.

  8. We happened to purchase a timeshare in Cuarcao when we were on a cruise several years ago:( . One of the "selling " points was that we could trade for a cruise. Well.... I don't know if all of the companies work the same way, but when we looked into trading, we had to tell them what exact cruise we were looking at, and had to use their TA. We couldn't use a week that we had banked, and had to pay total cost up front. The whole thing added up to only a few hundred dollar discount total from the brochure rate, and we ended up taking a better cruise for less total money on our own. I would suggest that you do price comparisons before you get any quotes ( we also had to let them know within a short time frame if we wanted the trade once we inquired). Do you use your timeshare often? Is it worth the cost and maintaince fees?
