  1. I know someone here will know the answer.  I am renting a car, from Hertz at FLL airport.  The next day I will be driving to Miami.  On the Hertz website it will not let me select the port of Miami for a return.  Where is the best/easiest location to return the car?  I have tried calling Hertz but they keep "disconnecting" me.

    TIA

We were just on The vista in September and yes we could see our bill. I don't remember the exact steps but it's a menu option and then you put the number from your sail and sign card in. I'm sure someone may have a better explanation. So sorry to hear she is still sick.

She feels so much better but her energy level isn't back to normal yet!  She spent all day atbe beach and did a little shopping.  She has a minor in ASL, as does one of her friends, so she is able to communicate without killing her voice anymore.

  3. my daughter is currently on a cruise. She wants to get a detailed copy of her bill. I told her there has to be access on the TV screen. She says there is not. I think she is wrong.

It has been years since I've been on a carnival Cruise can someone let me know if she can access her bill on the TV and if she can how does she do it.

I know she can go down a guest services but she has no voice and is absolutely exhausted from today.

On our third day while on a Magic cruise my wife came down with what the ship's doctor thought was Noro.  They immediately restricted her to the cabin and we missed an excursion (private).  Couple of days later I got sick and we missed another excursion (also private).  The doctor put us on a bland diet and room service delivered it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  It was wrapped in a red plastic container.  Can't imagine what the neighbors thought.  Anyway, because it was suspected to be Noro the ship did give us free movies and also added $100 OBC each to our account.  I can't advise you on Carnival trip insurance as I never get it but the company we used took care of the excursions quickly.  I didn't ask about getting reimbursed for the days we were sick because I was still onboard and still had fun.  I would be a bit surprised if Carnival reimbursed for the "missed" days but you never know so I would certainly ask.  Maybe it's covered under Trip Interruption.  Also, I would tip a bit over and above the normal tip for the cabin steward.   Our's did a deep cleaning every morning to get rid of any germs hanging around and that probably helped us get healthy again quickly.

**Quick Edit**  I should have mentioned the visit to the ship's doctor was free.  If it hadn't my insurance would have payed me (they actually asked if I was charged for the visit).

She just got a letter in her cabin offering her a credit towards a future Cruise.  The amount is equal to one day of this Cruise.  That was totally unexpected and I thought it was very nice.

If she is out and about, feeling better (yeah!), the vaccine and TamiFlu helped. otherwise she would still be felling awful

Exactly - without those two things she would be passed out on the bed all week.  She is exhausted after running around today and is heading to the room to take a nap.  But she is SO MUCH better today!!!

her temp was 99 and they quarantined her?   Did they do an actual flu test?  I am not sure how that all works as I have never actually had the flu (knock on wood, never the vaccine for it and I am 52).

I have had colds in the past where I just feel like crap, but take advil or Tylenol and it takes care of the symptoms, I know I have had fevers with those.

I cant imagine that I would go to the dr for that though...what made her go to the med center on board?

Hope the rest of her cruise goes well!!

They quarantined for two reasons - one, she told them she took Tylenol so they knew that reduced her fever some and two, she tested positive for the flu.  And really, she didn't mind too much being quarantined b/c she felt like crap yesterday.  I told her to go to the ships doctor.  I didn't think she had the flu and I didn't think she would get locked in her room!  I thought she just picked up a bad cold.  Last cruise she got a nasty ear infection that required rx drugs.  I didn't want her to wait and have her get worse.

She had a great day today!

Tomorrow they are booked for Sting Ray city!

So sorry to here about your daughter.  I am sure it is one bummer of a vacation.

Out of curiosity.  They just quarantine the individual with the symptoms?  What about their cabin mates?  They are hosts and carriers even when they are not exhibiting symptoms.

Her roommate, was free to come and go as she wished.  She hasn't had the flu vaccination (my daughter did in October).  I hope she is lucky and doesn't get it.  They gave my daughter Tamiflu.  They should had given some to the roommate as well.  It also helps prevent the flu.  When my daughter was living in the dorms her roommate got the flu an my daughter took her to ER.  The ER docs gave my daughter meds to take to help prevent her from getting it.

  9. I don't know what they offered him, if anything. I do know they didn't charge him for the medical visit!  He loved telling that story!

my daughter is getting ready to go to bed.  I told her to call down to room service and get some hot tea and orange juice.  The lady who answered the phone wasn't going to bring her orange juice.  She ask my daughter "are you sure you should be drinking orange juice"? Ugh. I can only assume they think she has  noro and not the flu.  I hope they bring it. I always makes her feel better when she's sick.

I know exactly what you mean - my daughter is 32 years old and recently married.  When she is really sick, she still wants her mom.  There's something about having your mother with you when you're really sick.  I am over 60 and lost my mom a few years ago - I always miss her, but if I'm sick, I really, really miss her.  I know you're not saying she can't do anything without you, she'd just love to have you there to "comfort" her.

Guess we should be thankful that our daughters still need us (lol).

Exactly!  And I wish I was there to take care of her!

I understand your worry, but need I remind you that she is an adult and can most likely go wherever she wants without having her mom with her? I know. Your worried, but she will be fine. As a mom who has raised 5 children, and have grandchildren the same age as your daughter that actually went to Fiji and Cuba on their own with friends, she will be fine. I actually caught influenza on a cruise 2 years ago, and after a few days of Tamiflu, I was fine. But I didn’t start to show symptoms until debarkation day, so no quarantine for me. By the time I arrived home that night, I had a fever of 104. No fun.

Oh I know - but she doesn't!!!  She is the one that hates leaving me.  But she does leave me to follow Harry Styles around the world and always survives.  I am really hoping the tamiflu works and she can get off the ship tomorrow.  I had the flu in 2002.  No tamiflu. It was horrible.

If she has had the flu shot, I am betting she probably has the Norovirus and not the flu.  I doubt the trip insurance would cover the time she's just stuck in her room but if she wanted to fly home she might look into that.

She does not have Noro.  She is not having any stomach issues - which is rare for her since she has gastroparesis.  She had a "fever" 99, so I wouldn't call it a fever but they did and she just felt like crap.   She is already feeling better.

Poor kid.  This is why people don't go to medical.  I got a really bad cold last cruise, no flu.  I self medicated enough to make it.  But it was not my best cruise.  Sorry for your daughter, hopefully she will be better soon.

yeah - she was pissed.  but that was the only way to get tamiflu!  i really hope she is better tomorrow.  by the time the ship docks she will have had 3 doses of tamiflu - and she did the vaccine.  I am sure she would be a lot worse if she didn't get it.

Please come back tomorrow and let us know if she is feeling better. To be 21, on a cruise and stuck in bed sucks! 😞

I will!  She is asleep now.  When she gets up she can sit on the balcony and drink some frozen drinks.  They are having a golden girls trivia contest this afternoon.  She is mad she can't go.  We are actually going on The Golden Girls cruise next month!  She would have killed at trivia!!

Sorry to hear about your daughter's bad luck. Maybe have one of her friends go to Guest Services and ask about the free movies. Or anything she can get to help pass the time, for that matter.

We were on the Valor last month and evidently someone brought the flu bug with them. I caught it, but luckily didn't start showing symptoms until debarkation day. We had an 11-hour drive home and I got progressively worse as the day went on, but thankfully my fever didn't hit until we were almost home. That laid me up for over a week.

Check out this link to see the coverage of Carnival's insurance. Their policy is underwritten by Nationwide. Scroll down to "Valid for departures on or after September 1, 2018:" and choose your daughter's home state to view coverage specific for her. They cover medical expenses from a sickness, but it doesn't look like there's any compensation for missing days due to illness (without incurring any additional expenses). https://affinitytravelcert.com/document/pdfs/CCL_Landing.html

Thank you!  I will check the link.

From reading other posts over the years I knew free movies and free room service *should* be offered.  I told her to call guest services before ordering anything.  They told her nothing was free.  She freaked.  They spoke to a manager and yes, all will be free.  Of course they have to be free!  Especially room service!

I just got off the phone with her - she just ordered some tea, soup and ginger ale.  I hope she sleeps the rest of the day and feels better tomorrow.

I am sorry your daughter came down with the flu on her cruise.  My granddaughter came down with it quite suddenly just before Christmas.  The good news is she was feeling better within 48 hours.  Your daughter may be able to enjoy a few days.

I am hoping she will be better by tomorrow.  I wish I was there.  I can guarantee you it will be a LONG time before she goes on a cruise without me!!
