  1. Hi

I am prone to sea sickness and experience in any part of the ship.

The aft part of the boat is a side to side motion in the room and foreword is more up and down. I prefer forward located rooms for myself.

That said we have stayed in two aft rooms and loved them (you deal feel more, IMHO). I usually take one meclizine at bedtime and a half tablet around the mid afternoon time and I have never had problems since our first cruising.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for your feedback. This is helpful.

  2. We were in that room. There was some vibration when underway, more when pulling into port. I didn’t find it bad, but I don’t have vertigo.

Thanks for the reply FLcruisergrl. Do you remember other than the vibrations, was there much rocking/motion while traveling at sea?

  3. Our friends are currently booked in the H6 Haven Aft Suite on Deck 11 (11321) for the Mediterranean and are concerned about both motion and ship vibrations.

Both are sensitive to vertigo and want to assess whether they should consider a different cabin and location. The challenge is that pretty much anything in the Haven is either Forward or Aft so the question really applies to both areas.

    They are sailing in September.

    What were your experiences?

  4. What is available for you with miles? Depending where you want to go? I'd see that first. Then determine if it fits.

Ships unload very early in Barcelona, I'm assuming you will just take a cab to the airport? Be certain to have euros.

At minimum, you need to be in the cab 2.5 hours prior to flight time, with 3 hours better. BCN is congested, and slower in the morning with all the US flights and cruise ships dumping at similar times. Better to be early.

Thank you for your response. We are using AAdvantage miles on American. Right now I am trying to return on Sunday and looking at times around 11’ish on.

Final destination is CLT, but I am looking at segments through Miami on Iberian or American if I can make it work and can snag 2 seats. We can return on Monday if necessary. Trying to avoid British Air.

Yes, Airport transport is a cab unless there is a car service recommended that is a better alternative.

  5. First time sailing this itinerary and need help in getting flights lined up for returning flight. What do you seasoned travelers recommend for departure times returning back to the states? How long will it take to get to airport and through security? We are sailing in the Haven so hopefully this will help with debarkation time.

(footnote:) We are also attempting to book with airline miles to hopefully snag Business Class, so some times may complicate the times available but have some flexibility. Leaving from the East Coast and already with the British Airline fees on miles has been interesting to say the least. (Yikes!)

    Thanks for your help!

  6. I can’t help you on your original cabin question but I can tell you this ... if you are booked in a 2 BR with nothing in the 2 BR but your luggage ... the noise that keeps you awake all night long is the hangers in the 2nd bedroom closet so take ‘me down :) . The Epic Haven is gorgeous. Have fun !!

OMG... too funny... I thought I was the only one that does this. The first time I heard the sound, I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Kind of like trying to find a cricket in your house in the middle of the night in your jammies while crawling around on the floor,:D

  7. I've been obsessively planning a cruise for about three weeks and decided on the July 27 sailing on the Sun... the price has been dropping steadily for several days and I finally "bit the bullet" and booked a balcony this morning. What do you know, the price just dropped again! I was getting a bit antsy that it could sell out. Still a fantastic rate (I think). How do you know when it's time? So looking forward to getting away for a few days. Hurricanes stay away!

I would try for their price guarantee... see below from their site. Good luck!

Our price is the best price

If you find a lower published price for the same cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line, either on ncl.com or on a piece of communication directly from Norwegian, we will either:

    • Re-price your cruise at the lower price
    • Or, you'll receive 110% of the difference in the form of an Onboard Credit

    How To Claim Your Guarantee

Just complete the "Best Price. Guaranteed." claim form and submit it online within 48 hours of making your booking. If it meets the Guarantee criteria and you choose to receive an Onboard Credit, we will automatically attach that credit to your account. Once you are on board the ship, you can use the credit however you please.

  8. I’m sailing on the Epic in November and did a lot of research with many 2BR Suites open. I picked Dick 16 as there are less cabins, on the same floor as the courtyard. 16001/17001 are wider and more desirable. I kept checking and 16001 opened up on my sailing so keep checking as people change/cancel etc.

Hope you have a great cruise, I’m sure you will being in the Haven

Thanks for the encouragement. I will!

Safe travels and I hope you enjoy your cabin selection.

  9. I imagined that. Many people are aware 16001 and 17001 are larger than the others and they get booked right away. You cant lose. The 2 bedroom suites on Epic are some of the fanciest suites at sea. That master bedroom with all the funky lighting with that bathroom is really something ;)

So I booked 16019 right now as a placeholder and will move after more research, specifically around Port Side or Starboard. We usually opt for Port Side, but don’t really know how this factors into the Med itinerary. I have been scouring reviews to try to get a sense of views from the sides, but not much success yet.

I think I want Port side close to the bar, but not too close.;p. I know they can dock either way, but hoping for some great sailing views as well. Thoughts?

  10. Those are ONLY the forward facing 2BRs. There are a lot with standard balconies along the side.

I understand and right now I don’t believe those are available for my sailing, but it was definitely something I was not aware of. I have seen videos and pictures of the balcony set up and always wondered how it worked with windows closed. ;p Silly me on that one.

Also, if you don’t mind, is there an opinion on Port or Starboard side cabins for the Mediterranean out of Barcelona?

  11. The center forward 2 bedroom suites on Epic are larger than the other 2 bedrooms. They are about 2 feet wider and the second bedroom is bigger too. We stayed in 16001 and loved it. The solarium was like another room and we had a lounger in there. Fantastic forward views too. The shower even has a forward view picture window. Would definitely stay there again. Here is a video of 16001 and you can see its wider than the other 2 bedroom suites. People know this and 16001 and 17001 are usually the first ones sold.

Thank you for your feedback and the video. Unfortunately it appears the forward cabins are not available. :loudcry: I will keep my eyes on them as sometimes cabins come back into inventory.

  12. We were in #17032 in May and DID hear quite a lot of chairs being moved about during the middle of the night/early morning hours and are NOT light sleepers. But we had no choice as this was the only Deluxe Owner's Suite available.

I also found it a "bit" of a drag having to go downstairs to the Concierge Desk and the Epic Club (restaurant) I know.....First World problems! But this is our third time on the Epic in the Haven and first time on deck 17. Although the Deluxe Owner's Suite was worth the walk/noise - we were not thrilled with the view from the LARGE balcony as it overlooks the pool area and you have NO way to look directly down onto the ocean.

In the future, we will go back to Deck #16 when cruising on the Epic in the Haven. Hope this makes "some" sense!

Yes , it makes perfect sense. I was also wondering about the noise from the pool area. It sounds like deck 16 may be preferred over 17.

I was confused a bit because right now the online website only shows cabins on 17 and had to call in to see what was available on 16. I always thought the sold the most preferred cabins first.

    Thank you for your reply.

  13. We selected a forward facing 2BR on Deck 17 because we love the 270 degree view. It had a Solarium balcony (enclosed) with forward windows that slide open. An air conditioned balcony! Not good if you wanted to sit out in the sun, but haven guests have the very large posh club a few feet away.

There are a few pics on our review

Oh wow!!! I didn’t know that the balcony is air conditioned. Thank you for the heads up. I am not sure how I would feel about that. I’m sure it has +/-‘s. Thanks for the pictures as well.

  14. thx.

    which promo is this?

It is tied to the 3 day Bahamas out of Port Canaveral on June 1st. This is the first time that I have seen this but I guess it may be pretty standard on shorter itineraries. I have only had the 3 day specialty package, so am unfamiliar with whether or not the meals will need to be prepaid at booking the reservation for Teppanyaki.

I am actually asking these questions on behalf of a friend on this sailing because I couldn't answer it and hoped someone who has taken the 3 day with the credit could help. They are in a balcony and got to pick 2 of the choices, but as you can see the dining package is just a credit towards the meal price.

I think from the prior answers, in order to get reservations prior to sailing, they will have to pay up front, but I do not understand what happens with the dining credit that is specifically for dining and not a *general* on board credit.

  15. what are dining credits?

    never seen them before

  16. One person makes a reservation for the total group. Just book a table for 4 or 6 or whatever your group size is.

How the meals are paid for is done when you are presented the bill. One person could charge it to their room (I.e., using on board credit). Others could use a meal package. Just like splitting the bill at a restaurant. Each person could do it differently.

These are all dining credits, so will they charge the person setting up the reservation prior to sailing upfront?

  17. any kind of cabin credit/onboard credit needs is to be onboard the ship, you can not use it book dinning in advance

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know how to make reservations for multiple people in multiple cabins in this case so that we can get reservations together as well as everyone use their credits?
