  1. Fun is fun! To some it's getting tipsy, to some it's belly flops, some bake in the sun. To each his own. I never gave thought to doing my pictures this way, but.....next cruise they will have something. I'm stuck in time with my Furby collection (oh, I forgot, that's for kids), now which furby gets the honor of going with me?

You are taking this way too seriously.

  2. I just recently read the start of a review and the couple was shown with a mascot of sorts... stuffed animal in the pictures.

and... saw another review with an Angry Bird all over the ship.

then I saw one with a pirate stuffed doll of some sort.

Can I just say..... I don't get it! :) Some of it is cute, while most is a bit ridiculous.

It reminds me of "Flat Stanley" that I made my kids take to the ball park one year.

Can't we just leave the toys at home? :p

    Catrin

I'm with ya. Don't get it either. I can understand for kids but not adults.

  3. Priceline only guarantees a room with the ability to sleep two people. You will not know if the room you have will have one king or two Queens unless you call the hotel and ask after you have made your nonrefundable payment. However, the hotel does not have to provide a room with two Queens or any other special arrangements. When I need two beds in a room I book through the traditional route instead of using Priceline. People have reported being able to get what they want, but I prefer not to gamble that much.

Thanks I will give them a call.

  4. Lucy: "Wow, you can see a lot from up here. Look at that cigar floating in the water."

Helicopter Pilot: "That's no cigar, lady, that's your ship!"

The Ricardos and Mertzes were sailing to Europe on Constitution, although I think aerial shots of Independence may have been used. IMO, the funniest bit on the "ship" (sets were used) other than Lucy's arrival was when she got stuck in the porthole. :)

Saw the porthole episode yesterday. I never get tired of her. The interior shots of the ship didn't look like a ship at all.

  6. Loved your video, thanks for the memories. The Song of America for was our first cruise and celebrating our 10th anniversary. There will never be a cruise as good as that one. The food was excellent and our waiter Peter was the best. I still have a ship shape dollar, a visor and a t-shirt. We too were in awe of that ship. There was just a totally different feel to cruising in those days. Not that I still don't love cruising but it was just different and I am glad I got to experience that.

  7. For every excercise activity we participated in, we got one ShipShape dollar. At the end of the cruise, you could trade in 10 ShipShape dollars for a free SOA sun visor or tee shirt. My DW liked to sleep in, so I got up at the crack of dawn - areobics on deck, jogging laps around the deck, etc, etc. I managed to collect enough ShipShape dollars by the end of our cruise to get free sun visors and tee shirts for both of us! Man was I ever stiff after doing all that excercise! :)

This brings back memories. I think I even have a couple of ship shape dollars tucked away somewhere and I bet I still have the bright yellow t-shirt too. Wonder how much those are worth. I also remember that not only did they have formal nights and casual nights but they had a couple of "semi-formal" nights. Oh the planning that went into packing.

  8. The SOA was also my first cruise. My husband and I sailed on her in October of 1989 to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It was the ship that got us hooked. When I look back, the ship was very simple but there was just something about her. I don't know if it was the first cruise phenomenon but it was a great cruise. I think that there was more elegance back then - everyone dressed to the hilt for formal nights and all men had tuxes. Every night at dinner the waiters did something special. RCCL was the best back then. I am going on The Vison of the Seas in April and hope I won't be too disappointed.
