I was at the Mariner ceremony today on the Rotterdam and asked the person responsible for Mariner matters for the answer to your question. She told me you would receive it in your cabin. Only persons receiving silver medallions and above receive it at the ceremony. Additional guests like me who are invited to the ceremony are 5 star and President's Club.

Thank you so very much!  That was incredibly kind of you to ask.

  2. I have no clue what the proper terminology is here so forgive me...is it possible to connect my iPad to the tv in the room so we can watch our saved movies on the larger tv rather than on our iPad?   We can do this at home with our smart tv without cables but I'm doubting that is possible.  Does anyone know about this?  If it is possible and if so, what is needed to do it?  Thanks so much.

  3. Hi Everyone - We are booked on the Rotterdam for 4/7 and cannot wait.  The Holland website says that only the Koningsdam has the Freestyle Coke machines but I thought I read somewhere else that the Rotterdam also has them.  I know it seems silly but this matters to my hubby.  Can anyone confirm if the Rotterdam has them and if they do, where are they located on the ship?  His only vice is Mtn. Dew Zero and if they really have those machines he will be thrilled.  Thanks!

  4. Hi Everyone - we just booked a HAL cruise for April out of Fort Lauderdale on Rotterdam.  We haven't sailed with HAL in more than 20 years.   Do they assign boarding times the way Royal and Norwegian do?   If so, how do I find out when ours is set for?   Thanks  so much!

@graceinga We're going on our first TA in November 2024 hopefully on the Epic unless it's repositioned, and if so then one of the Celebrity ships as a (way more expensive) alternative. Following along your post eagerly to gather information from more experienced cruisers. By the way, Mazel Tov on your retirement! I hear the Villages is a rocking place!

    Warmest, Amy

thank you so much Amy.   Yes, we moved to The Villages in October 2022 and we love it.

  6. I retired 3 months ago, hubby retires in 15 days...the countdown is real!  We've been on 24 cruises but always the Caribbean or Alaska.  It's time for us to branch out.

    • Is there a time of year that typically has better weather on a TA?  We are concerned with boredom on the sea days if we are needing to stay inside more due to the weather.
    • Is there additional entertainment, more than what is typically on a 7 night cruise?
    • Are there additional menu offerings in the MDR, more than what is typically on a 7 night cruise?

    Thanks for your help.

    Avoiding Windjammer on embarkation day...

Café Promenade (sandwiches and light food)

    Sorrento's Pizza (pizza)

    Solarium Bistro Buffet

Coastal Kitchen (if you are in a Grand Suite or above)

    Johnny Rockets (fee)

Playmakers Bar (bar food - fee)

    Boardwalk Dog House (hot dogs)

    Park Café (good light food)

El Local Fresh (tacos and burritos)

Thank you so much for such a comprehensive list!  I think we have decided on the Solarium Bistro Buffet.

  8. Hi Everyone - we are sailing on Wonder of the Seas this Sunday and we are so excited!  Is it true that we can stream things from our iPad onto the stateroom tv if we have an HDMI to USB to whatever the connection is on my iPad?   I know it's nuts but we like to watch a familiar show or two before falling asleep each night and would love to take advantage of using the stateroom tv vs trying to balance the iPad in-between us in the bed.  😀  Thanks!
