However, most people spend most of their time in hotels in their hotel rooms, when they go out it is generally to leave the hotel.

And when they go out they generally don't go to a different country each time!

Can anyone recommend a really good PPC!   One that will go to bat for you when prices change or better offers come you way after you have already booked!  Want to book a cruise this week but with someone that’s really good!   Thanks

Sorry, it's against CC Guidelines to recommend a PCC, just as it is for TA's.

    Travel Agent Recommendations

There shall be no third-party recommendation (whether positive or negative in content) of travel agencies on any forums within Cruise Critic. General discussions regarding the TYPE of AGENCY to be used to purchase a cruise will be allowed, as long as no recommendations for any source of purchase are posted.

Touting of your personal cruise agent or cruise line "personal cruise consultant" (or any other venue by which you purchase a cruise) is not allowed on our message boards. Postings that contain "tell them John sent you" will be removed without notice.

This means you should not ask about someone's travel agent, nor should you respond in kind. Offering to email someone your travel agent's name or info is also not allowed, nor is asking members to email you for the information.

Now that they have changed the name on the new build, I think they should change the name of the NIEUW STATENDAM to just STATENDAM.   Any Reaction?

I agree wholeheartedly. Never liked having two "Nieuw" ships. Already some people are dropping the Nieuw from Statendam anyway.

The last time HAL tried to cut out the medallions there was such an uproar that they backed off.

Anyone want to get rid of their gold medallion???

Check e-bay periodically. Right now there's a silver 300-day one for under $13. A gold might show up sometime.

edit: here's one for sale for $38 on another site:

Medallions.  So, do you think HAL will also do away with the medallions?  I'm so close to getting my gold one (500 days at sea).

Might depend on how much of a supply they have on hand right now.

  6. Found this with Google:

A day after warning that it may be forced to file for bankruptcy, Norwegian Cruise Line on Wednesday announced that it had raised over $2 billion in funding to ensure that the company can withstand “well over” a year without revenue amid the coronavirus pandemic.

I hope HAL is able to at least retain the Stephen Card paintings and re-allocates them on the remaining ships?

I know I've seen pieces from the S-class Statendam and Ryndam that were moved to other ships.  I would think that the Card paintings of other HAL ships would not be desirable on the sold ships and would be removed, but ones of the same ship might stay.  (That is, a painting of the Amsterdam might stay on that ship under its new name, but a painting of Rotterdam would be removed.)  I recall on the Prinsendam there was a ship model outside the Crow's Nest with the former owner's name and colors. Can't remember what that was though!

For some reason I thought the D was for "designated" - no idea why.

    Maybe from baseball's "designated hitter"?

You may also sometimes see DD, DS, DSil, DBil, etc where the S means either son or sister

Does anyone know how these HAL ships set up connecting rooms?  Is it only removing the balcony divider?

On the 3 newer ships, besides the interior connecting doors, a small section of the balcony dividers can be opened, not removed.

and possible noise from the galley below.

On deck 4 I would choose a starboard side VB, as they are not above the galley.  We've had a couple of cabins over the MDR and never had a noise issue. At times when the MDR was busiest we were either there ourselves or elsewhere on the ship, not in our cabin.

Catl331, do you know if there is a link to Princess cabins and balconies like the HAL one you posted above?

I don't know, but I doubt it.  Halfacts is a site created by CC member richwmn and maintained by him and 3 or 4 other HAL forum habitués.  All of the content comes from Rich and us HAL fans.  If/when you have something to contribute, see the home page halfacts.com  😄

p.s. - another extremely useful site for HAL info is rogerjett-photography.com
