Did you have to ask for the lounger chairs or were they already there? We'll be in 1100 on the Radiance. Can't wait. It's our first aft and our first junior suite.
Here is Jewel 1100 should be the same on Radiance

I hope someone posts photos of Mariner 7388.
Here is Mariner 7688 opposite corner

Cuizer 2 what ship and room is this?
-
Just to let everyone know this is a good site to look at for cabin photos
It is a free site I ran across, add your pictures there for everyone to see.
-
Here is 1394 from Mariner which would be very similar for view since the two ships are the same layout.

Noise will not be any issue on deck 9. We didn't have any on deck 10

side will not matter since you never know which way you will come into the port to dock. I've been to the same port on the same ship and we have docked differently, so no rhyme or reason to it as I have seen.

If you want a direct view to the sky go to the aft rooms on the back. These balconies are not fully covered. check out these pictures from JS 1100, you can see the balconies below as well.

I am noticing one problem with this site. Apparently a lot of people don't remember what room they were in when they post pictures. Some of these rooms I've been in and the beds aren't even in the right place leading me to believe they don't even know what ship they were on.
Gina
That is disappointing to hear. I know they have a spot you can let them know when you see an issue with a room. I found that they didn't have all the rooms listed on some ships. I let them know about it and they had it corrected within a couple of days.
It is better then nothing.

check this site for cabin pictures while you research rooms.
I did not start this site but it is a great resource. Don't forget to add your pictures to the site.

I hope they did something in the rooms - our OS on Navigator last November was not in a really good condition.
Back to your FS-question: I guess the Royal Familiy Suites on Voyager-ships are nearly the same as on Freedom-class (same layout, little bit bigger...) - here you can find some Pictures http://picasaweb.google.com/swisscruiser/FS8414IndependenceOfTheSeas and a short review http://swisscruiser.blogspot.com/2009/05/review-cabin-8414-cat-fs.html of cabin #8414 @ IOS. We loved the huge balcony with the big table - it was great for breakfast with an amazing view... especially the overlooking view in the ports was great. If they did some refurbishing it may be similar with one of those IOS-cabins... .
Enjoy it... ;).

Check out this site for room pictures and post some of yours if you can. This is a great resource for everyone.

Kind of resurrecting my older thread. We are booked in 9394 and I'm hoping that someone may have some newer photos of this stateroom or one of the other 3 Family Suites. I have visited the Voyager-Class.com site and would really love to see something newer if possible.

This is a great resource for room photos.

Bonnie,
Have you seen this website yet? *****
I see your pictures and they would be a great help to others.
-
Good luck,
I think you could call tonight until 9, unless your using a TA. These rooms don't last long.
-
Renee,
If the cabins are different size, I could not tell. The balconies again are identical. If you look at the picture you will see that none of the balconies have any overhang over them. So they will not have much shade at all if the sun is directly behind the ship. 8410 may get more shade due to the steel structure coming in at the corner but you lose some of ocean view from the room because of the door differences. Again I would go with 8412.
We have cruise about 20 times with RCL and have been booking AFT cabins for the last 6 cruises once we found out how nice they are with the large balconies.

I believe that I read somewhere that 8410 vs. 8412 has somewhat of an obstructed balcony view. Check RCCL website to be sure. That is the sole reason why we dropped that corner aft but won't know for sure if it was a smart move until we set sail.
Castle,
I agree with 99Florida. 8410 maybe slightly wider but it does have an obstruction due to the steel superstructure on the back of the ship. We sailed on liberty in had rooms 8414 and 8412 and the balcony is plenty big enough for two and it will have two lounge chairs as well. The connecting door was not a problem, we never heard a peep from my sister and friend who stayed in 8412.
Here is a picture looking towards 8412(person leaning over the rail). Notice the steel above curving back in towards 8410. 8410 does not have a sliding door and it likes to slam shut (we had friends in that room before)
I would go with 8412.

We were on 8712 a few weeks back now. The obstruction is really on that deck, you can see by it and all and we really enjoyed ourselves :)
I think you would prefer deck 9 because it is higher up and no one but deck 10 looks down on you.
The 2 rooms next to the Presidential suite as we noticed, had water running down on their balconies from that metal piece.
I think we are aft snobs now as well :D

Hey Donna, we had Harry show us one of the royal family suites before we left, what a great room! We also told him you booked for next year, just in case he's still with Liberty. He had only been on 2 weeks. He was a nice guy. Talk to you later, Judy
Thanks:D
Chuck still hasn't convinced you to be on next year? :)
-
Here is a photo of our room, first one in picture is 8712 which is one over from corner. We had the sliding door and wide balcony. We thought we had a tremendous amount of privacy and it is quiet back there.
We did notice the soot and they wash down the balcony every morning.
The next two you see are the two Royal Family Suites-

Donna, where are you?
Hi Judy,
I sent you an e-mail it is from my school, Peters Academy so you don't think it is a spam.:)

I'll wonder over to the meet & mingle thread

I would also assume your room would be one of the better ones, everyone says the corner afts have more balcony room.
Oh, I agree it is nice to see the ocean from your room. I don't know if this will work on RCL but on Disney they upgraded us to a room across from the elevators and we specifically said we didn't want that kind of room.
We went to the pursers desk right away during boarding and they were able to move us down several rooms because of a no show.
Maybe after you get on and take a look and determine you may not like it go ask to see if they can change you.
However, since you are looking forward to being in the aft and there are 3 of you and 2 of us, we would be happy to change with you, if RCL will let us, I doubt it would be a problem since our room has a pullman. Really:) keep that in mind.
-
Judy,
How come you think you may not like your room?
We have never had aft so, I don't know what to expect.
Our room has a pullman not that we will be using it but I wonder if it takes up a lot of space.
I didn't think you were lecturing me..........are you a teacher too?
I know what you mean about being in the right frame of mind it does make a difference. I am not a chronic complainer that was our only issue with RCL...............my hubby & I are go with the flow type of people, I think I am funny but you can form your own opinion.
I have been reading the bad passenger habit thread and have been laughing my head off.
I am pretty sure I'll need to bring a hazmat suit :D

It is a great room, perfect for 4 people. We had for Alaska and had 3 people in the room.
